Colposcopy plays an important role in evaluating cervical cancer and pre-cancerous lesions. It allows doctors to closely examine the cervix with a special magnifying device called a colposcope. Colposcopy is used along with a Pap test to diagnose cervical changes and determine the need for biopsy or treatment if pre-cancer or cancer is found.
