American History X Essay
Writing an essay on the topic of "American History X" can be a challenging endeavor due to the
complexity and sensitivity of the subject matter. The film explores themes of racism, redemption,
and the impact of hate on individuals and communities. Crafting an insightful essay requires a
deep understanding of the movie's plot, characters, and the historical context it addresses.
Analyzing the characters, particularly the protagonist Derek Vinyard, demands a nuanced
exploration of his transformation and the factors that contribute to it. Addressing the underlying
causes of racism and the consequences of extremist ideologies in society is another crucial
aspect. Moreover, delving into the film's portrayal of the American social landscape necessitates
a comprehensive understanding of historical events and their relevance to the narrative.
The essay should go beyond a mere summary and critically examine the film's portrayal of racial
issues, offering thoughtful insights into its messages and implications. Balancing personal
reflections with scholarly analysis adds depth to the essay, making it more engaging and
persuasive.
Incorporating relevant historical events and contextualizing them within the film's narrative
requires thorough research. Understanding the broader historical context, such as the rise of
white supremacy groups and the impact of socioeconomic factors on racial tensions, is essential
for constructing a well-informed argument.
Addressing the cinematic elements, such as cinematography, symbolism, and character
development, adds layers to the analysis. Exploring how these elements contribute to the film's
overall message enhances the quality of the essay.
In conclusion, tackling the topic of "American History X" demands a multifaceted approach that
combines a deep understanding of the film, its characters, and the historical context it portrays. It
requires careful consideration of sensitive themes and a critical analysis that goes beyond
surface-level observations. Crafting an essay that effectively communicates these complexities
necessitates time, effort, and a commitment to presenting a well-reasoned and insightful
perspective.

Thom Yorke Research Paper
THOM YORKE Born in Wellingborough, Northhamptonshire, England , Thom
Yorke, for as long as he could remember, aspired for greatness. During his
childhood, however, he spent time drawing multiple sketches of musical
equipment, bands on stages performing, and what it meant personally to be a rock
star . He woke up each new day with assurance that he was destined to rise to the
top. GROWING UP/ALWAYS THE ODD ONE OUT Thom Yorke was born with a
paralyzed left eye, and he underwent multiple surgeries throughout his childhood and
into his career, with attempts to remedy the paralysis. Through these operations
Thom developed an extreme distaste for hospitals . He drew from recollections of
these feelings in later songs which dealt with paranoia,... Show more content on

Instead of being flattered Thom began to once again despise the sounds he once
created. Touring before and after each album caused him to strongly desire
something new, however with Kid A instead of creating more layers of sound,
Thom wanted to return to simplicity. The third studio album, OK Computer (1997) ,
had already shown signs of this simplicity; resulting in Radiohead s first number
one slot in the UK, along with a triple platinum award, but Kid A drastically
transformed Radiohead into the multi faceted band that it is today more than any
other studio album. Thom had harbored animosity toward the sound of guitars and
even his own voice. He sought to bring Radiohead through to yet another
transformation . Successfully, Thom Yorke did just that; Kid A was the first album
at number one in the US music charts, UK music charts, as well as many other
countries such as: Canada, France, Ireland, and New Zealand . During the process,
Thom forced the digitization out from his mind and through computers. None of the
other band members knew what to do at first, but Thom was adamant about having
them as a part of the process. Through a guise of a computerized voice in some
songs, and a healthy mix of key parts of the band and electronica, Thom created
another facet of Radiohead, resulting in the fifth studio album sound of Amnesiac

The Current Status Of Electronic Health Record
Electronics has become one huge complex reality. When you turn to your right
someone is using a form of electronic device and when you turn to your left
something is being controlled by some electronic. In general there are computers in
schools, prisons, hospitals and at home. It has become part of our day to day need in
our community. In this paper I will discuss the current status of electronic health
record(EHR) in United States, what needs to be done to improve EHR status in
United States and issues that affects patient confidentiality.
The current status of the EHR in United States is almost impossible to give an

To make a product be a reality one needs to discern, integrate, and disintegrate
issues that affect marketability and productivity of the product. In regard to EHR
there are various issues that have been affecting the system such as old generation
system, cost of implementing new system and adaption to adoption. In order to
make EHR a success the old must be made new (Hebda and Czar, 2013). Hebda

According to one estimate, the total median CEO pay at the nation s 350 largest
publicly owned firms grew from $2.7 million annually in 1995 to $6.8 million in
2005. The overall increase in CEO pay has outstripped inflation and the growth in
non managerial pay over the same period. Equally important is the trend in the
composition of CEO performance based pay which includes stock and stock option
grants. Median pay grew from $1.3 million in 1995 to $4.4 million in 2005 (Labonte,

WorldCom s Bernie Ebbers became very wealthy from the rising price of his
holdings in WorldCom common stock and got a $1.5 million per year pension for
bankrupting the company. All of these perks were funded with dollars that could
have gone to shareholders. The average shareholder who can t rely on a company
funded pension or government funded Social Security is funding the lavish
lifestyle of the CEO who will get a pay raise (via stock price increases) for
downsizing that worker s job (Beatie, 2008). There are many other ways that a
CEO can hurt a company, but they all boil down to a CEO putting his or her own
interests before the company s. Enron, Tyco, and WorldCom are extreme examples.
They are the few bad apples that get all the headlines. For these CEOs, it is apparent
how easy it is to forget that their job is to serve the company and its shareholders, not
pad their own wallets. The Enron case is a testimonial as to the relativity and
importance implementing the top down approach for an internal control. By utilizing
the top down approach, Enron s unusual accounting methods and the detection of
major weakness in the company s financial reporting would have not been overlooked
but detected early on in the audit process.
Notwithstanding, most companies are run by ethical people. They may bend the
rules, but few take the process to the extremes of Enron or WorldCom.

Victoria Crosse s Achievements
Astoundingly, 7 of the 9 Victoria Crosses were awarded during the Battle of Lone
Pine, and the battle had succeeded its tactical objectives, despite the hellish
conditions and the fact that over 2200 men died. Many commanders as well as the
press in Australia perceived Lone Pine as one of the greatest victories on the
peninsula and a fine display of Australian gallantry (Crawley, 2012). Bean rated it
as one of the four great achievements of the AIF. He was right but so were the Turks
when they called it Kanli Sirt Bloody Ridge. Accounts in various entries testify to
the ferocity of the action. No place on the Gallipoli Peninsula was more fiercely
contested than these few acres...known as Lone Pine, read Prime Minister Robert

The Period Of Victorian Times
Late Victorian civilians had no hope or faith left by the end of Queen Victoria s
reign. Victorian poets either attempted to change the mind and hearts of Victorian
people for the benefit of the throne or attempted to raise awareness for the benefit
of progress over the course of the era s entirety. Nineteenth century England reached
its height as a world imperial power and had changed as dramatically as it had in all
of its history combined during this time (Greenblatt 2145). The population of London
grew from two million to over six million and industrial production techniques had a
profound impact on everyone in all aspects of life in their culture (2145). Unregulated

British parliament passed a reform bill that adapted voting right in order to reflect
the population growth (2146). This Reform Bill marked the beginning of a new
age of political power. The 1830 1840s became known as the Time of Troubles
because of industrialization which caused a domino effect of trouble for the
masses (2146). Working conditions were awful, especially in the mines and
factories and for the women and children already in poverty that were forced to
work in these conditions (2146). Literature of the period focuses on the plight of the
poor and the new urban reality of industrial England (2148). Writers often
commented that there were two England s... Wealthy England and Poor England
(2149). As of 1837 just half of England s population was literate, however that figure
continued to grow because of an imperial push for education even though in the early
and mid Victorian periods women had very limited access to education until 1870
(2148).
Among the early Victorian poets is the very well known, Alfred (Lord) Tennyson who
offered ideas of hope in many of his works as long as trusted the crown and/or were
wealthy. The work that stands out the most addressing commoners is The Lady of
Shalott which maintained a strong influence throughout the entirety of the Victorian
era (although written and revised in the early period). As official poetic spokesman
for the reign of Victoria, Tennyson felt called

Emphasis on Health and Safety Every child care program should prioritize kids
health and safety above all else. Ask about policies on immunizations,
handwashing, dealing with sick children, and diaper changing. Whether you re
looking for a daycare center or a nanny, all potential child care providers should be
CPR and first aid certified. They should know how to handle everyday bumps and

Analysis of the Financial and the Profitability Ratios
1. Current Ratio helps us measure the ability of a company to pay off its short term
debts using its most liquid assets. 1.5 is the benchmark. If it s less than 1 that means
the company is not able to meet its current liabilities using its liquid assets.

Interpretation and Explanation
In case of BBC, we can observe a positive trend. There has been a significant
increase in the ratio. However in 2007, the company s current liabilities were
higher than the current assets. But over the next two consecutive years 2008 and
2009, the company s assets were enough to pay off the short term debts, and this is
a positive sign. Talking about the current year 2010, the current ratio is below the
benchmark, but the cash reserves are more. we can see a constant change in the
values of current assets in a positive trend for last three years, however, not for the
year 2010. Again there has been increase in current liabilities substantially. This can
be one of the reasons for a funding cut of ВЈ340m this year by BBC as George
Osborne confirms the news on Oct 20th 2010.

Wildlife includes all non domesticated plants, animals and other organisms.
Domesticating wild plant and animal species for human benefit has occurred many
times all over the planet, and has a major impact on the environment, both positive
and negative. Wildlife can be found in all ecosystems. Deserts, rain forests, plains,
and other areas including the most developed urban sites, all have distinct forms of

untouched by human factors, most scientists agree that wildlife around the world is
impacted by human activities.

The Project Elephant PE in short was launched in February 1992. It is a central
sponsored scheme that intended to provide all kinds of support to the elephant
bearing states in India, be it financial or technical for protection of elephants and
their habitats. Elephants, the gentle giants of the forests are much loved in India and
this project was launched when their numbers started decreasing at an alarming rate.
The Project Elephant in India also aimed to decrease the human elephant battles and
help in the welfare of domesticated elephants in India. Though project elephant was
launched with much enthusiasm years ago, but it has still not led to as much
increase in the number of elephants as it was expected. Wildlife conservationists

The city was rebuilt and featured incredible structures such as the Hagia Sophia
which symbolize the heights the Byzantine culture reached. Specific attributes that
made living in such a city so desirable were its trade locations and transportation
between three different continents. However, what made the city desirable also made
it a target for those who wanted to take advantage of its attributes. Over the next
several hundred years, the city was subject to attacks from Persians, Arabs and
nomadic people trying to take over the city. Members of the fourth crusade, who also
governed the city for a short time, also attacked Constantinople. All these attacked
lead to an attack in 1453 by the Ottoman Turks led by Sultan Mehmet II. Due to the
constant attacks led by others, the city s defenses were severely weakened, allowing
the Ottoman Turks to conquer the city. The city was then renamed to Istanbul, which
became the third and last capital of the Ottoman Empire. The city was the center for
military campaigns aimed at enlarging the Ottoman empire in a dramatic manor.
By the mid 1500 s, the city of Istanbul had a population of nearly 500,000. With a
population this large, the city was a major cultural, political and commercial nerve
center. The Ottoman rule remained until its forces were defeated in World War I
and Istanbul was occupied by the allies. Today, this area is now known as the

The Ideas Of Kierkegaard And Pascal
There are some questions in the religious domain that reason cannot answer because
there are situations in every religion that cannot logically be explained. Religions are
not rational; therefore, reason alone is not adequate enough to validate religious
truths. In this paper, I will demonstrate how reason and faitharen t separate entities
and how both are needed in order to explain all religious truths by examining the
ideas of Kierkegaard and Pascal. I will also give a detailed explanation of fideism,
show examples of irresponsible fideism and responsible fideism and then argue in
favor of responsible fideism; faith fills in the gaps that are left void by reason.
A truly authentic faith is not one that is established upon the root of reason and
scientific facts, but rather transcends those human accomplishments and challenges to
understand God and the world as we know it, through an existentialist view. Belief
should be purely a matter of the will. To have ultimate and unwavering faith in
God, and Christian belief, is impossible to comprehend and that is exactly how the
great theological philosopher Soren Kierkegaard saw the Christian faith. He stated
that Christianity is unfeasible and is ridiculous in its claims of God becoming man.
Blaise Pascal was another philosopher who had a somewhat different view of God,
and faith. He explained that reason and faith were not enough to believe in God.
According to Pascal, it was somewhat easier to have the choice to believe.

morally responsible for their actions. He was also the first ecclesiastical author

The Sun and Its Features Essay
The Sun and Its Features
Changes in the magnetic field of the sun affect us here on earth in a number of
interesting ways. This magnetic field is caused by the flow of electrically charged
ions and electrons on the sun, and if it didn t exist, the sun would be a much more
boring star. The 11 year cycle of the sun s magnetic field accounts for many of the
cool features of the sun: sunspots, solar flares, and aurora borealis. At the beginning
of the cycle, the magnetic field is weak and there are very few sunspots; later, at the
peak of the cycle, the magnetic field is strong, and there are many sunspots.
Sunspots are relatively cool areas that appear as dark patches on the face of the sun.
They occur where magnetic field lines are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Well, when the sun is at solar maximum, the speed and density of the solar wind goes
up, and there are many more northern lights.
Another example of the way the sun interacts with the earth is solar flares.
Remember that sunspots occur when magnetic field lines are twisted below the
surface of the sun, well, solar flares occur when magnetic field lines are twisted
above the surface of the sun. Solar flares are huge explosions on the surface of the
sun that occur near sunspots. They can release as much energy as a billion
megatons of TNT. You might think that this huge a burst of energy has got to
effect the earth somehow, and it does. Big solar flares send so much electrical
energy to earth that they have been known to blow out huge portions of the power
grid, disable million dollar satellites, and even corrode metal pipelines. During a
solar maximum there are many more solar flares than normal. Because of this threat,
we have launched the SOHO satellite into space to sit between the sun and the earth
and monitor the sun s activity. It can give us some advanced warning if a solar flare
is headed our way.
A third example of how the sunspot cycle effects the earth is more interesting, but
also more controversial. Scientists have found that the 11 year solar cycle isn t the
same every time. The sun goes through this cycle like a pendulum, but the pendulum
is an unstable one. Sometimes the pendulum can

Management of Sport Development
Sports development should be focused on mass participation not elite talent
identification. Discuss. Sports development is something which by definition caters
for both the masses as well as elite athletes. However after recent spending reviews
more light has been thrown on the question, which does deserve more funding and
resources? In answering this question a lot of analysis has to go in to what it is that
the government want out of sport and what do they consider good results to be. Both
types of participation obviously have their own requirements financially and to a
degree both feed into each other. However where should we focus predominantly?

like the British Athletic Federation, that they don t know whether to adopt a policy

like the BAF have developed short sighted polices which aim to balance their

the 100 foot drop off. Clickity clack, clickity clack, the chains sang as they wheeled
the carts up the steep drop off. Before I knew it, our cart, the first cart, was at the
top of the 100 foot drop off. I could see everything from there. The swirling black
Octopus ride was t0 the right of us, the gigantic Ferris Wheel twirled around and
around to the left of us, and in front of us the old wooden roller coaster, High Roller,
roared as the carts sped around the tracks.
Stopping me from checking out the world before me, the roller coaster dropped
down the steep drop off. My stomach felt like it was torn out of me as I experienced
the steep drop off. As soon as the roller coaster was at the bottom of the drop off, the
coaster turned upwards and headed towards

Lenin Return To Petrograd Research Paper
After the February Revolution Lenin wanted to return to Russia as soon as possible.
This was a problem because he was isolated in neutral Switzerland as World War I
continued to be fought in neighboring states. The Swiss communist Fritz Platten
managed to negotiate with the German government for the safe passing of Lenin on
the sealed train. The German government clearly hoped Lenin s return would create
political unrest in Russia. The April Theses were a series of ten directives expressed
by the Lenin upon his return to Petrograd. The Theses were mostly aimed at fellow
Bolsheviks in Russia and returning to Russia from exile. He called for soviets
(workers councils) to take power, denounced liberals and social revolutionaries in the

African Arts Midterm
Midterm essay Lingyi Liu
After studying Arts of Africa for two weeks, I have learnt a lot of African arts. It is
interesting that most of them are used at funerals to honor the death of ancestors.
People use sculptures, masks, illustration and some other tools to memorize the dead
and even people from different culture have their unique ways to honor it. Death
rituals in Africa are come from the cultural beliefs, they believe that death and life
are continuous. The dead people still alive in a spirit way. Rituals in Africa ensures
the ancestor will not be disturbed and his descendant will be protected. If they fail
to do this, the ghost will remain in the world and cause some problems. The
descendant will lose the asylum from their ancestor. So, it s really important for the
African to honor the dead. According to the images in the lecture, I found the most
common purpose of these arts are wearing in performance and placing in the shrine.
The reason why people used these sculptures and masks is to represent a spirit. Here

Qin Shihunag in china. It also has the figure of cavalryman. The material of them are

Analysis Of The Bell Jar By Sylvia Plath
The Technique of Sylvia Plath: Give Her A Plath On The Back Ariel, The Bell Jar,
Daddy. Sylvia Plath had an extremely complicated lifestyle, and it very much
reflected in these books and poems she published. Each one represented a different
hardship Plath experienced, yet one in particular stood out above them all. The Bell
Jar, a novel about a young woman named Esther, living in New York City for a one
month internship, who is lost and depressed in her world, feeling like no one
understands her. The book s writing techniques include imitating personal events
Plath went through. One example of this is in the quote, I hate her , I said, and
waited for the blow to fall. . That moment where Esther confided in her doctor this
was a symbol of Sylvia Plath s hatred of her mother, Aurelia Plath. Esther had a
horrible relationship with her mom, as did the troubled author in real life.
Therefore, she included it in her novel. When young Sylvia was only eight, her
father, Otto, tragically passed away. Enraged, she believed her father left her on
purpose, and stopped believing God shortly after. It turned her whole life upside
down, and it is thought that being stuck with her strict mother all those years
fueled the fire in their rocky relationship. Eventually, she became obsessed with the
hatred of Aurelia Plath, and based many books on her. More than often, she
portrayed her mother as the evil protagonist in them. Moreover, her technique was
displayed in the following, [The Rosenbergs execution] had nothing to do with me,
but I couldn t help wondering what it would be like, being burned alive along your
nerves . Esther often had suicidal thoughts, and believed that no one understood
her, as if she was all alone in the huge city of New York. Tremendously depressed,
she decided to take her own life. However, after she derived help from Dr. Nolan,
she was able to procure a speedy recovery. Yet Esther s troubles were unmistakably
inspired by the author, as Plath, too, was diagnosed with depression at a very early
age. In fact, the novel, The Bell Jar , was written in the midst of an especially
difficult time in her life, when her husband had an affair and left her, which forced

The Pros And Cons Of Twin Metals
Copper is a common material used in our daily lives. We use it for electrical
generators and electrical wiring. It is used in our phones and other technology.
With the increase in demand for technology, the need for copper for those products
has also increased. Twin Metals is a Minnesota mining company that wants to open
an underground copper mine near the boundary waters. The Boundary Waters
Canoe Area Wilderness (BWCAW) is a Minnesota preserve in the Superior National
Forest that has hiking trails and lakes for canoeing. They do not allow motorised
vehicles on the preserve. The question I m investigating is Can Twin Metals open
and safely operate a copper mine near the BWCAW?
Twin Metals has spent more than five years conducting environmental studies that
they plan to use in their Environmental Impact Statement. The copper mine will
produce tailings which are waste left over from mining and extracting resources. Twin
Metals plans to store half of the tailings as cemented backfill in the mine. The rest
will be stored in the Tailings Storage Facility (TSF). Twin Metals also conducted
tests that show the tailings will not generate acid. Another pro is that they will create
about 650 full time jobs and 1,300 additional jobs in industries. ... Show more content

Sulfuric acid is a colorless oily liquid that is corrosive to tissue and metals. If there
is a leak from the mine, because of where the mine would be located, the sulfuric
acid could pollute the boundary waters. This could damage fish and waterfowl.
Over 1,000 acres of wetland will be destroyed for the mine. Mining by products
will put humans at higher risk for cancer and other illnesses. Almost 99% of rocks
mined for copper are waste. There have been several instances of copper mines
leaking. In the Coquimbo region, Los Pelambres dumped 13,000 liters into the

For every project or business what we have to know what should be implemented

clear and detail description about work which needs to be implemented and how it

explaining the process (ten steps to business process blueprinting, n.d.):
Develop a process inventory: which contains the inventory of all the processes where
there are known and unknown processes. This helps to make a good start with one
process and complete them in a sequential manner without failure.
Establish the foundation: which provides scope to better understand the boundaries
of the project and provides basic information about the process which is started first.
Draw Blueprint: explains the process, different departments, and tasks required in a
project from starting of the project till the end of the project.
Estimate Time and Cost: it is very crucial for every project to estimate how much
time will project takes to complete and base measurement cost for entire completion
of the project.
Verify the Process Blueprint: after the completion of the plan regarding the project

The Importance Of The Armenian Genocide
Krain (1997) purports that the presence of political opportunity was a contributing
factor to the Armenian genocide and that genocide is much more likely to occur
when there is a change in political opportunity. This finding can be supported when
one recalls that there had been many political upheavals within the Ottoman Empire
that preceded the genocide, creating a change in political opportunity. Valentino
(2000) also writes that mass killings are more likely to occur when the power of
elites is threatened and is often used to completely eliminate a group s influence. The
Ottoman elite felt threatened by the Armenians, which was the main reason for the
massacre, but it was made possible through the leadership s...promise of spoils and
plunder to cajole the public into participating in the genocidal process, (Kurt, 2015, p.
306). Academic literature pertaining to the Armenian genocidemainly attributes the
cause of the genocide to the Young Turks want to consolidate their own power,
which is in accordance with the stance of the film Aghet. A large focus of the
academic literature is an examination on how the Armenian genocide is
contemporarily viewed and depicted, as it is engulfed in cultural bias. The
widespread denial of the genocide in Turkey and among Turkish people indicates the
high level of cultural bias that exists. The Turkish government denies that this was
genocide, and it is a criminal offense in Turkey to discuss it. The denial of genocide

A Reflection Of Observation To A Magistrates Court
We attended the ACT Magistrates Court on 6th October 2017. We observed a
criminal case. This was our first time visiting the court. The historical coach wood

those that are found guilty or plead guilty to an offence. Moreover, the Magistrate
determined whether a case should go to a different court or to adjourn the case to

tasks instructed by the Magistrate. Prior to the Magistrates arrival, The Clerk
ensured that the courtroom was in order. As we sat down in the public gallery, he

included examining and assembling legal documents and materials that were required
for the proceedings to take place. In addition, the clerk reviewed and identified
documents from each party before handing them over to the Magistrate. He was

internal change during the story and novel. Static characters do not change their
attitude, their outlook on life or their personal values.
For example, Capricorn Anderson is and a Dynamic Character. This is why he is a

Theodore Roosevelt, President Of New York
Born in New York City on October 27, 1858, Theodore Roosevelt was governor of
New York before becoming U.S. vice president. At age 42, Teddy Roosevelt
became the youngest man to assume the U.S. presidency after President William
McKinley was assassinated in 1901. He won a second term in 1904. Known for his
anti monopoly policies and ecological conservationism, Roosevelt won the Nobel
Peace Prize for his part in ending the Russo Japanese War. He died in New York on

Theodore Roosevelt Jr. was born on October 27, 1858, in New York City, to
Theodore Roosevelt Sr., of Dutch heritage, and Martha Mittie Bulloch, a Southern
belle rumored to have been a prototype for the Gone with the Wind character Scarlett
O Hara. His family owned a successful plate glass import business.
As a young boy, Theodore Roosevelt as he was known to his family members Teddy

his illnesses and asthma. This gave him the opportunity to nurse his passion for
animal life, but by his teens, with the encouragement of his father, whom he revered,
Theodore developed a rigorous physical routine that included weightlifting and
boxing.
When his father died during his second year at Harvard College, Roosevelt
channeled his grief into working even harder: After graduating magna cum laude in

Anne Moody s Non-Violence
Non violence was the key to the civil rights movement. The civil rights movement
was a mass popular movement to secure for African Americans equal access and
opportunities for the basic privileges and rights of the U.S. citizenship. African
Americans used the approach of non violence to get important issues handled. A few
of the important issues was to end segregation, racial inequality, and get voting
rights. Although it took several years to get these acts handled, African Americans
were determined not to give up. Anne Moody wrote a biography on her life growing

The civil rights movement was a success was because of its religious leaders and
how they inspired people. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr was most influential on the
non violent approach. Dr. King enforced that violence was not going to get
anything solved. Anne did not agree with Dr. King on the nonviolent approach
because she did not see anything positive coming from it in a timely manner. Little
did she know, Dr. King s nonviolence resistance would be what got noticed? Anne
Moody was brought up in the church, and was very active while she was there.
Anne lost her faith, after the bombing of the church, which killed four innocent
girls. In the book Anne talked about how the older people focused on heaven, while
people her age just tried to better themselves. Religious beliefs played an important
role in African Americans lives. Although African Americans were going through so
many negative things, they never doubted their God. To African Americans church
was a place where they were considered free despite what society thought. They saw
that their skin color did not matter, but that they were all equal in God s eyes. A few
of the religious leaders who helped with the movement were Dr. Martin Luther King
Jr., Andrew Young, and Jesse Jackson. Religion is the crucial ingredient that kept the
movement alive in the face of death, poverty and large scale

Since 1994 nationwide laws have been put into an effect nationwide asking for
those convicted of a sexual crime be placed on a registered list. In the 20 years
since its implementation, the registry has added several caveats such as a tier
based registry where the violent offenders were kept at a higher more prominent
level. As well as public notice every few months of an offender relocating or living
in your area. While some low levels offenders must relinquish 15 years of their life

under the state s legislature was not required to register as an offender. Under the

Werewolves were first mentioned in 60 C.E. by Gaius Petronius Arbiter in his work

other. As highlighted by Tarique, Briscoe, and Schuler (2016) that one of the biggest
mistakes the HR management of MNE s fall in is navigating through the myriad of
local laws and regulations with assumptions that worked in their homeland will
work somewhere else. The MNE s should choose the right approaches to deal with
employment relations to ensure that will have a healthy work environment and get
the desired results. and productivity level. There are seven approaches suggested. I
think in the case of Cadbury UK, it will be beneficial to use the guide and advice
approach through which the parent company may provide
Arthrogryposis Research Paper
Arthrogryposis condition description paper Definition Arthrogryposis is a condition
that causes joints to be stiff and crooked at birth. The individual s intelligence is
relatively normal. The patient will have stiff upper and lower joints, with fixed
internal rotation of the shoulders, extension of the elbows, flexion and ulnar
deviation of the wrist. The lower extremities will exhibit external rotation of the hips
and knee flexion contracture (Reed, 2011). Etiology Arthrogryposis is caused by
impaired utero movement for longer than 3 weeks. The impaired physical movement
can be caused by uterine malformations, multiple gestations, or oligohydramnios,
which is too little amniotic fluid surrounding the baby in the womb. Lack of

For example, if the child uses their forearms in a pronated position to carry items,
stretching the muscles may reduce the ability to functionally performing tasks. The
biomechanical theory is the typical frame of reference used in the treatment sessions.
Biomechanical treatment of stretching, positioning, and proper joint alignment can
be beneficial for increased joint ROM. The areas of occupational performance that
are affected due to limited ROM and hand grasp would include ADL s of dressing,
grooming, feeding, toileting, playing, education, and social roles. The performance
components that might be affected are restricted ROM, bones and joints that are bent
or curved in atypical position. The child s fingers and thumb may not have active
movement, joint stiffness, muscle weakness, and trouble ambulating if the child has
club feet. Psychosocially the child may have self confidence issues and dependency
behaviors (Reed, 2011). The focus for evaluation and treatment could involve use of
tests to see what the current functional ability is, in the occupational areas of their
life. One test that is used to evaluate the physical functioning of the child in the
community, is the Activity Scales for Kids. The general treatment goals are for the
child or adolescent to participate in age appropriate tasks through problem solving
and adapting to their environment (Reed,

Essay on The Grateful Dead s Effect on Counter Culture
Jacqueline Smudzinski
Thinking and Writing 1302 60
Bouchard
September 29, 2013
The Grateful Dead You ve got to listen to the heavens, you got to try to understand.
The greatness of their movement is just as small as it is grand. Most young adults of
my generation do not know who The Grateful Dead are, but they unknowingly dawn
the apparels and slang created in the counterculture of the bands following the
Deadheads. The band, The Grateful Dead, became popular in the 60s and carried out
wide spread recognition and fame into the 80s. Their calming, peace promoting
music became popular because it transported people, it took them away from
whatever they were going through in their life and set them on a new path. Fans of
the band ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In many cases, some words were adopted from Rastafarian roots. Others were
words they picked up and modified throughout their travels. An example of a
Rastafarian word adopted by the Deadhead culture is Raza Unida, meaning we are
all in everything together. That expression was particularly popular with the
Deadheads because they experienced the meaning. They all felt connected to each
other through their shared experiences and desires. Some other expressions that
became popular at the time included gully, meaning real good, and say bra, meaning
what s up. Many of the Deadheads wore tie dyed clothes, Birkenstock sandals, and
dreadlocks. Supporters of the free love, psychedelic movement, easily adopted this
look.
Due to the fact that the band was traveling around so much, the Deadheads spread
their subculture throughout the United States. Because it was such a prominent time
for hippies and peace, the way the Dead Heads lived was appealing to so many
people. People who were searching from freedom from parents, government, and
school happily joined the Deadheads on their journey when they passed through their
town. Many people even left their families behind to join the movement. The
community connected people from different places and backgrounds that wanted to
experience the music and live their lives in the same way. The band took the listeners
on a journey that they could all relate to, especially those living and moving with
Colombia Social Structure
The country of Colombia, officially referred to as the Republic of Colombia, is
situated in the northwest quadrant on the continent of South America, boarding the
Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea. The area now known as the Republic of
Colombia was settled as a Spanish colony in 1525. The Spaniard s established
Bogota as their capital city and it remains the capital today. Colombiarebelled and
proclaimed their independence from Spain in 1819.
Colombia is the fourth largest country in South America in terms of land mass. It is
the third most populous country in Latin America with a population of almost
44,000,000 people. According to World Population Review, the population is
projected to experience and sustain growth rate of 1.29 per ... Show more content on

The top segment of the population, according to Ruano, 2005, is only twenty
percent of the total population but is responsible for almost 80% of the gross
national product (GNP). Contained within the upper class are varying levels of
wealth, power and education. The original elite group within the upper class is
referred to as the oligarchy which means a small group of people who have the
majority of control. The oligarchy consumes and seizes the top political positions,
financial control and the best educational opportunities. The upper class has also
been known to inherit leadership positions within the military structure based
solely on their social status. Entry into this group is not by aptitude it is primarily
achieved by heritage and family name. In the past few years, the traditional elite of
the upper class has experienced a decline in numbers due to a loss of inherited
money, splits among estates and economic troubles. As the lineage elite dwindle
they are being replaced by a new upper class of entrepreneurs and business people
who have become very successful. The new members are not held in the same esteem
in Colombian culture as they lack the family name stature of the older elite

  • 2. Thom Yorke Research Paper THOM YORKE Born in Wellingborough, Northhamptonshire, England , Thom Yorke, for as long as he could remember, aspired for greatness. During his childhood, however, he spent time drawing multiple sketches of musical equipment, bands on stages performing, and what it meant personally to be a rock star . He woke up each new day with assurance that he was destined to rise to the top. GROWING UP/ALWAYS THE ODD ONE OUT Thom Yorke was born with a paralyzed left eye, and he underwent multiple surgeries throughout his childhood and into his career, with attempts to remedy the paralysis. Through these operations Thom developed an extreme distaste for hospitals . He drew from recollections of these feelings in later songs which dealt with paranoia,... Touring before and after each album caused him to strongly desire something new, however with Kid A instead of creating more layers of sound, Thom wanted to return to simplicity. The third studio album, OK Computer (1997) , had already shown signs of this simplicity; resulting in Radiohead s first number one slot in the UK, along with a triple platinum award, but Kid A drastically transformed Radiohead into the multi faceted band that it is today more than any other studio album. Thom had harbored animosity toward the sound of guitars and even his own voice. He sought to bring Radiohead through to yet another transformation . Successfully, Thom Yorke did just that; Kid A was the first album at number one in the US music charts, UK music charts, as well as many other countries such as: Canada, France, Ireland, and New Zealand . During the process, Thom forced the digitization out from his mind and through computers. None of the other band members knew what to do at first, but Thom was adamant about having them as a part of the process. Through a guise of a computerized voice in some songs, and a healthy mix of key parts of the band and electronica, Thom created another facet of Radiohead, resulting in the fifth studio album sound of Amnesiac (2001)

The overall increase in CEO pay has outstripped inflation and the growth in non managerial pay over the same period. The average shareholder who can t rely on a company funded pension or government funded Social Security is funding the lavish lifestyle of the CEO who will get a pay raise (via stock price increases) for downsizing that worker s job (Beatie, 2008). There are many other ways that a CEO can hurt a company, but they all boil down to a CEO putting his or her own interests before the company s. Enron, Tyco, and WorldCom are extreme examples. They are the few bad apples that get all the headlines. For these CEOs, it is apparent how easy it is to forget that their job is to serve the company and its shareholders, not pad their own wallets. The Enron case is a testimonial as to the relativity and importance implementing the top down approach for an internal control. By utilizing the top down approach, Enron s unusual accounting methods and the detection of major weakness in the company s financial reporting would have not been overlooked but detected early on in the audit process. Notwithstanding, most companies are run by ethical people. They may bend the rules, but few take the process to the extremes of Enron or WorldCom. References Anand,

Nineteenth century England reached its height as a world imperial power and had changed as dramatically as it had in all of its history combined during this time (Greenblatt 2145). Working conditions were awful, especially in the mines and factories and for the women and children already in poverty that were forced to work in these conditions (2146). Literature of the period focuses on the plight of the poor and the new urban reality of industrial England (2148). Writers often commented that there were two England s... As of 1837 just half of England s population was literate, however that figure continued to grow because of an imperial push for education even though in the early and mid Victorian periods women had very limited access to education until 1870 (2148). Among the early Victorian poets is the very well known, Alfred (Lord) Tennyson who offered ideas of hope in many of his works as long as trusted the crown and/or were wealthy. The work that stands out the most addressing commoners is The Lady of Shalott which maintained a strong influence throughout the entirety of the Victorian era (although written and revised in the early period). • 14. The Ideas Of Kierkegaard And Pascal There are some questions in the religious domain that reason cannot answer because there are situations in every religion that cannot logically be explained. Religions are not rational; therefore, reason alone is not adequate enough to validate religious truths. In this paper, I will demonstrate how reason and faitharen t separate entities and how both are needed in order to explain all religious truths by examining the ideas of Kierkegaard and Pascal. I will also give a detailed explanation of fideism, show examples of irresponsible fideism and responsible fideism and then argue in favor of responsible fideism; faith fills in the gaps that are left void by reason. A truly authentic faith is not one that is established upon the root of reason and scientific facts, but rather transcends those human accomplishments and challenges to understand God and the world as we know it, through an existentialist view. Belief should be purely a matter of the will. To have ultimate and unwavering faith in God, and Christian belief, is impossible to comprehend and that is exactly how the great theological philosopher Soren Kierkegaard saw the Christian faith. He stated that Christianity is unfeasible and is ridiculous in its claims of God becoming man. Blaise Pascal was another philosopher who had a somewhat different view of God, and faith. He explained that reason and faith were not enough to believe in God. According to Pascal, it was somewhat easier to have the choice to believe.

The 11 year cycle of the sun s magnetic field accounts for many of the cool features of the sun: sunspots, solar flares, and aurora borealis. Remember that sunspots occur when magnetic field lines are twisted below the surface of the sun, well, solar flares occur when magnetic field lines are twisted above the surface of the sun. Solar flares are huge explosions on the surface of the sun that occur near sunspots. They can release as much energy as a billion megatons of TNT. You might think that this huge a burst of energy has got to effect the earth somehow, and it does. Big solar flares send so much electrical energy to earth that they have been known to blow out huge portions of the power grid, disable million dollar satellites, and even corrode metal pipelines. Sylvia Plath had an extremely complicated lifestyle, and it very much reflected in these books and poems she published. Each one represented a different hardship Plath experienced, yet one in particular stood out above them all. The Bell Jar, a novel about a young woman named Esther, living in New York City for a one month internship, who is lost and depressed in her world, feeling like no one understands her. The book s writing techniques include imitating personal events Plath went through. One example of this is in the quote, I hate her , I said, and waited for the blow to fall. . That moment where Esther confided in her doctor this was a symbol of Sylvia Plath s hatred of her mother, Aurelia Plath. Esther had a horrible relationship with her mom, as did the troubled author in real life. Therefore, she included it in her novel. When young Sylvia was only eight, her father, Otto, tragically passed away. Enraged, she believed her father left her on purpose, and stopped believing God shortly after. It turned her whole life upside down, and it is thought that being stuck with her strict mother all those years fueled the fire in their rocky relationship. Eventually, she became obsessed with the hatred of Aurelia Plath, and based many books on her. More than often, she portrayed her mother as the evil protagonist in them. Moreover, her technique was displayed in the following, [The Rosenbergs execution] had nothing to do with me, but I couldn t help wondering what it would be like, being burned alive along your nerves . Esther often had suicidal thoughts, and believed that no one understood her, as if she was all alone in the huge city of New York. Tremendously depressed, she decided to take her own life. However, after she derived help from Dr. Nolan, she was able to procure a speedy recovery. Yet Esther s troubles were unmistakably inspired by the author, as Plath, too, was diagnosed with depression at a very early age. In fact, the novel, The Bell Jar , was written in the midst of an especially difficult time in her life, when her husband had an affair and left her, which forced Plath and

This finding can be supported when one recalls that there had been many political upheavals within the Ottoman Empire that preceded the genocide, creating a change in political opportunity.
