Favourite horror sub-genre:
The data shows the most popular form of horror sub-genre is
‘Zombie/post-apocalyptic’, the second most popular being
‘Psychological horror’ and the third most popular being comedy
horror. As we already intended to use body/slasher horror, there
will already be psychological factors in this. However as my
group’s idea had no way of including Zombie or post-apocalyptic
we will try to include dark humour to add comedy without
losing the horror we wish to create.
Slasher –2/11
Body – 2/11
Psychological – 5/11
Comedy – 4/11
Zombie/post-apocalyptic – 6/11
Sci-fi – 2/11
Action – 0/11
Gothic – 1/11
2. Slasher Weapon
Kinfe
Axe
Chainsaw
Sythe
Other
Favourite slasher weapon:
The data shows very obviously the most popular slasher weapon
is chainsaw. Although in our group we are unable to use a
chainsaw in our film, we can use suggestive sounds and images
to create the idea this weapon will be used as a threat in our
film.
Knife – 1/11
Axe – 1/11
Chainsaw – 6/11
Scythe – 2/11
Other – 1/11
3. Main Interest

Main interest in horror films:
From the data these are the top three aspects in horror films
people find interest in in horror films. Fortunately these are
also the top three parts my group plan to work on for the film
idea and opening.
Gore – 2/11
Psychological aspects – 8/11
Characters – 1/11
4. Favourite type of body horror
Alien interference
Supernatural
Zombie/mutation
Slasher/bloody violence
Other
Favourite type of body horror:
From the results the type of horror I plan to do isn’t the most
popular. However it is the third most popular of all the responses so I
know it will appeal to some of the demographic.
Alien – 0/11
Supernatural – 6/11
Zombie/mutation – 3/11
Slasher/body violence – 2/11
Other – 0/11
5. Favourite film introduction type
Straight into the story
Confusing scene containing many aspects
to be explained at the end
Slow introduction
A mix of all above
No preference
Favourite film introduction type:
The results show the majority prefer a confusing scene where all the
aspects come together at the end to explain the story. This is also my
personal favourite and I am planning to use this type of opening to
make it more exciting. However the other results suggest there is no
preference within my demographic on favourite introduction/opening
styles.
Straight into.. - 1/11
Confusing scene.. – 6/11
Slow intro.. – 0/11
Mix – 2/11
No preference – 2/11
