3. Refrigerated display cabinets
 Refrigerated display cabinets are used for retail purpose. They are often
used for storing and displaying food items at supermarket or at grocery
stores.
 These refrigerated display cabinets are easy to operate and require minimum
maintenance.
 They consist of a curved glass display that comes with fluorescent lighting,
electronic temperature control and a display. They also consists various
shelves for stacking the products.

4.  Customers are able to see the food displayed in the cabinets which are
mostly fresh food commodities or foods that require temperature control
like confectionary products, meat products, seafood, dairy products etc.
 They are mostly found in supermarkets, bakery, dairy outlets etc.
 These cabinets have auto defrost system and a ventilated cooling system.
They have an operating temperature of 2°C to 8°C.
 Refrigerated display cabinets are available in various types depending on
the product type and storage capacity.

5. 1. Multidecks: The Multideck Display Unit are mostly found in
big grocery shops or the supermarkets because of its gracious
capacity. These units are good for self-service. It has multiple
shelves and can store large number of food products.The
have glass fronts giving a clear vision of the products inside.

2. Serve-over Counter:
The refrigerated serve over counter displays are used widely in cafes or
sandwich shops. They are available in either flat or curved glass tops. The
curved glass tops makes the products appear more attractive and compelling
to the customers.

7. 3. Counter top display: These unit also come with excellent features
like adjustable shelves and reversible doors. It is also equipped with
a thermostat which is very helpful in keeping an eye on the
temperature of the unit.

8. 4. Bar and counter chiller display: These units are
designed especially for back bars found in bars. They have
either sliding or hinged doors.

9. 5. Upright glass door unit: These units are used very
commonly in all sorts of shops like restaurants, cafes,
convenience stores etc. They do not take up a lot of space
but have a good capacity because of their height.

10. 6. Patisserie display: These Patisserie Displays units are of
stainless steel and they have a front of curved glass. They
have special features like chill and humidity.

11. Pallet layout and stacking
 Stacking containers onto a pallet is the most common way of
loading and dispatching a number of containers to the same
location.
 There are a number of pallets which are made from different
materials and with a variety of designs.
 Wood is the most common material used but metals and plastic
is also used.

 2 – way entry
This is a low cost stable pallet and is
available in various types and sizes
 4 – way entry
This is a commonly used pallet and is
available in various sizes to meet the
needs of consumers.

13. Stacking
 One of the most important factors that needs to be considered when stacking
a pallet is the strength of the cartons to support the load.
 The stability of a stack on a pallet can be achieved by the pattern in which
the cartons are stacked
 The best stacking pattern for cartons is to have their vertical edges lined up
with other cartons so they can form vertical columns.
 Interlocking the cartons can also increase stability by holding the cartons
together but it may reduce the load bearing strength of the stack.

 The air temperature ranges from 8°C to -5°C in cold
storage rooms.
 Frozen food storage - -20°C to -30°C
 General purpose – 0°C to -30°C
 Ice-cream freezers - -18°C to -22°C
 Fruits and vegetables – 0°C to 7°C
