The screencast should be  Fact-based, objective, and purposeful.  Four to six minutes in length.  Narrated by the speaker.  Introduced by webcam view of speaker speaking, wearing business casual attire.  Directed at peers, yet professional. The screencast is worth 80 points, or 8 percent of your final course grade. WHAT TO DO This assignment asks that you to record a narrated slideshow presentation (MS PowerPoint, Google Slides, or the equivalent) on an approved topic using a simple, free screen recorder like Screencast-o-matic (https://screencast-o-matic.com). Screen recorders can capture whatever is on your device’s screen. They can also simultaneously record audio (using built-in or external microphones) or video (using a device’s camera or webcam). In the narrated screen recording of your slideshow, begin with a webcam view of you introducing yourself and your topic. Additional webcam shots showing you speaking are optional. Usually, the setting and circumstances allow for direct interaction between the speaker and the audience. Oral presentations are a common method of evaluating the progress of a project and the progress of the individual. The ability to present oneself and one’s project in a com- petent and succinct manner enhances one’s college and career development. Multiple components make up an oral presentation: 1) the audience, 2) the content and organization, 3) visual aids, and 4) the speaker. Student design teams have control over the last three items, but little control over the audience. Thus, a presentation goal is to prepare effective visual aids and a presentation method to capture and maintain the attention of the audience. As with writing, styles of oral presentation are numerous. All good presentations rely on clarity of expression, an easily followed train of thought and well thought-out visual aids that illustrate key points in the talk. High-quality visual aids can make or break a presentation as can poor organization and a sloppy presentation style (e.g., mumbling, talking to one’s feet or failing to make eye contact with the audience). � �� Since presentations are always prepared for an audience, the presenter must evaluate the audience and determine the best way to pique its interest. Determine who will attend the presentation. Gather informaiton on the technical awareness of the audience as a whole and the degree of familiarity that the audience has in the subject. To help 'sell' the idea to the team, your boss, the Marketing Director, is planning a virtual meeting with all team members. She is aware of the concerns and knows how important the presentation will be in creating a favourable association with virtual teams, as well as a good opportunity to build engagement, trust and candour among the team members. Most essays at university are persuasive, and there is a persuasive element in at least the discussion and conclusion of a research article. Points of view in academic writing can include an argument, a recommendation, interpretation of findings or evaluation of the work of others. In persuasive writing, each claim you make needs to be supported by some evidence, for example a reference to research findings or published sources.
