Cloud computing provides on-demand services over the internet on a pay-per-use basis. It offers benefits like greater storage, access from any device, lower costs, and less data corruption. While network-based computing dates to the 1960s, cloud computing emerged in 2006 when Google's CEO first used it. The main types of cloud services are SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS, which respectively provide software, platforms, and infrastructure as a service on a subscription basis at lower costs while improving scalability, access, security, and productivity.
