Climax
• Until finally…
We enter the end of the story and approach the
story’s moment of truth.
• The search for Nemo intersects with Nemo’s own
adventures in the dentist’s office.
• The climax continues into the ocean, reaching its
peak when Nemo rescues the fish trapped in a net.
• What is the epiphany?
Climax
-the turning point of the story
i. things change or the
main character has an
Epiphanyor a
ah-ha moment (finally realizes
the truth)
Falling Actions
-series of actions that move down to the resolution
-actions AFTER the climax
-Nemo saves Dorie after she is knocked unconscious
Resolution
And ever since that day…
Once we know what happened, the closing scenes tell
us what the story means for the protagonist, for
others in the narrative, and (not least of all) for those
of us in the audience.
Resolution
-conflicts are resolved
a. everything is better
-outcome is clear
-the end of the plot (action)
-Now the characters will go back to the “new” normal
and continue to live their hopefully “boring” lives
now
Review-Pixar’s 4th
Rule of Storytelling
 (Exposition)Once upon a time there was a father fish,
Marlin and a son fish, Nemo.
 Every day, they swam and swam and swam together.
 (Inciting Incident) One day, Nemo was kidnapped by a
diver.
 (Rising Action)Because of that, Marlin had to leave and find
Nemo.
 (Rising Action)Because of that, Nemo made friends with the
fish in the dentist’s office.
 (Climax)Until finally Marlin found Nemo after he broke out
of the dentist’s office and (epiphany)realized how strong
and independent Nemo is.
 (Resolution) And ever since that day Nemo continues to go
to school and Marlin is the perfect father because he gives
his son independence.
