OARnet has experienced significant growth in bandwidth capacity and connections over time. Currently, bandwidth has increased to over 5,600 Mbps, which is 8 times higher than in 2002 and double that of 2006. OARnet is working to upgrade last mile connections to Ethernet and DS-3 connections to lower costs. It is also expanding co-location facilities and adding new academic members. OARnet is implementing new technologies like VMware and developing a new website with additional features. Efforts are increasing collaboration between OARnet and other Ohio education organizations.

10. Emergency Web Hosting This is a hosted service on the OSCnet State-of-the-art backbone. OARnet provides all software and hardware for basic service. Use secure FTP access to upload simple html pages to a web site with 1 GB of allotted storage space to access and maintain files. This emergency site can provide as little or as much information as you wish your viewers to have in the event of an emergency. Finally, switching to and from the emergency web site will be as easy as calling the OARnet Support Center and your web presence will available within 2 hours of your call.
