OBJECTIVES
 To Define flash card,
 To Enlist uses of flash card and
 to Know the advantages, disadvantages of
the flash cards

INTRODUCTION
 Small compact cards, which flashed before the
class to bring any idea.
 Provide variety and activity by using simple
drawing or photographs.
 They may be used for reviewing a lesson with
students.

DEFINITION
 Set of pictures with suitable
captions/ a write up prepared on
any them . Each one will represent
a particular idea and the cards are
arranged in a particular sequence
so as send out the message to the
audience

GENERAL PRINCIPLES TO USE THE
FLASH CARDS
1.Group size is 5- 15
2.Message should be brief and introduction is
brief
3.Flash the card in front of the learners by
holding chest level
4.Pictures are not covered by holding
5. Flash cards are numbered and arranged in
sequential
6.Bold lettering and illustration should be used
7. Cards not more than 15- 20
8.Size of the card depends on the size of
audience

PROCESS OF MAKING FLASH
CARDS
 select theme/ message
 collect the articles needed
 12X 17cm ( small groups) 24X28cm (
medium group) 37X50cm ( large group)
 Make drawing / cut out pictures for each
card
 Number the cards
 Height of the writing on the flash cards
shoud be 5cm
 First card- topic. Second card – content in
sequence

PREPARATION OF FLASH
CARD
Cut a chart paper into 4 equal parts
Write content with stencils and sketch
Height of writing on flash card approximately 5 cm
Make a rough card on ordinary paper first
Then transfer it on the chart paper

PRESENTATION OF FLASH
CARD
 Arrange the card serially
 Go through the each card
 Note down important teaching point
 Develop 3 or 4 questions to ask
 Rehearsal – holding the card against the chest
- looking at the audiences and at individuals
-looking at the card and indicating the objects
-keeping eyes forward

 Teacher should know the content well
 Teacher should explain the pictures to the
audience keeping the flip chart facing them
 Should go in organized and sequential manner
 Simple explanations can be given and the
message should be conveyed properly.
 Simple with relevant drawings
 Attractive not messy
 Have letters large enough to be legible easily from
the distance

  • 3. OBJECTIVES  To Define flash card,  To Enlist uses of flash card and  to Know the advantages, disadvantages of the flash cards 3 KAAVITHA DURAIRAJ ,ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR
  • 4. INTRODUCTION  Small compact cards, which flashed before the class to bring any idea.  Provide variety and activity by using simple drawing or photographs.  They may be used for reviewing a lesson with students. 4 KAAVITHA DURAIRAJ ,ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR
  • 5. FLASH CARDS DEFINITION  Set of pictures with suitable captions/ a write up prepared on any them . Each one will represent a particular idea and the cards are arranged in a particular sequence so as send out the message to the audience 5 KAAVITHA DURAIRAJ ,ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR

GENERAL PRINCIPLES TO USE THE FLASH CARDS 1.Group size is 5- 15 2.Message should be brief and introduction is brief 3.Flash the card in front of the learners by holding chest level 4.Pictures are not covered by holding 5. Flash cards are numbered and arranged in sequential 6.Bold lettering and illustration should be used 7. PROCESS OF MAKING FLASH CARDS  select theme/ message  collect the articles needed  12X 17cm ( small groups) 24X28cm ( medium group) 37X50cm ( large group)  Make drawing / cut out pictures for each card  Number the cards  Height of the writing on the flash cards shoud be 5cm  First card- topic.
