Ray's presentation for Clackamas Community College on the panel about Transit Connections in Suburban and Mixed Land Use Environments at the Oregon Active Transportation Summit in Portland, OR on April 25, 2019.
CCC needs the Clackamas Community College Shuttle Service and Access Plan (CCCSSAP), which identifies and prioritizes feasible projects and programs to improve student access to the Oregon City and Harmony campuses via the CCC Xpress Shuttle. Improving access to the college’s campuses by shuttle will expand the pool of potential students to include those who currently have difficulty reaching campus and may also reduce transportation-related tardiness.
Clackamas Community College Shuttle Service and Access Plan Work PlanRay Atkinson
Clackamas Community College (CCC) and other community colleges aim to make education more accessible, and one aspect of achieving that mission is addressing transportation barriers. Current and potential students at CCC experience barriers in access to education due to a lack of transit options in suburban and rural Clackamas County. Improving access to the college’s campuses via transit will expand the pool of potential students to include those who currently have difficulty reaching campus and may also reduce transportation-related tardiness. CCC needs a prioritized transit plan developed with the communities it serves.

Can We Get There from Here? First and Last Miles AICP CM 1.5
Pasadena, Charlotte and Boulder have all gotten creative to connect their first and last miles. Learn how as we explore what's often the last piece of the transportation puzzle. See how bicycle and pedestrian improvements can provide access to busy corridors and enable everyone to start and complete their trips. First and last miles can take many forms: Investigate a range of solutions here.

The possibility to redesign 255 bus route in order reduce dead journeyRafhan Rifan
255 Bus Route is one of the famous bus routes in Sri Lanka, connecting Mt. Lavinia and Kottawa. We identified that there is an issue with revenue earning legs of the journey. This research identified possible re-route options for the route 255.

South Patrick Street (Formerly Route 1 South) Housing Affordability Strategy ...Ray Atkinson
In May 2017, City Council adopted its FY2018 Interdepartmental Long-Range Planning Work Program, which included the Route 1 South Housing Affordability Strategy planning effort focused on a portion of the Southwest Quadrant Small Area around Route 1 south of Duke Street. The timing of this effort is closely tied to the expiration of affordability contracts on two large rental communities in the corridor – The Heritage at Old Town and Olde Towne West III.
The Value of Place: Planning for Walkability in the Tigard TriangleRay Atkinson
The purpose of the Value of Place Project is to produce urban design recommendations that will improve the walkability, safety, comfort, and aesthetics of the built environment for those who live, work and do business in the Tigard Triangle.
Metro’s portfolio of outdoor destinations and nature programs has grown dramatically during the past two decades, laying the groundwork for a world-class regional park system.
To realize that opportunity, Metro has developed a system plan that will guide future decision-making and investments for regional parks, trails, natural areas and nature programs. Community members and partners helped shape a plan that lays out Metro's mission, role and priorities going forward – and introduces the 17,000 acres of parks, trails and natural areas that Metro manages on behalf of the public.
Health Impact Assessment: Broadway Improvement Project in Tucson, AZRay Atkinson
Tucson is the second‐largest populated city in Arizona. The city is located 108 miles southeast of Phoenix and 60 miles north of the U.S.‐Mexico border. In 2010, the U.S. Census reported the city's population at 520,116, with a metropolitan area population of 980,263.
Broadway Boulevard is a major east/west arterial in Tucson that spans 16.2 miles connecting downtown to Saguaro National Park East. The Broadway Improvement Project will be constructed in phases, with the first phase spanning two miles from Euclid Avenue to Country Club Drive. This section is primarily composed of commercial zoning with minimal residential zoning. The project is located in an area that is
diverse in its racial and ethnic makeup, as well as its socioeconomic composition.
Based on the anticipated outcomes of the roadway expansion, this health impact assessment (HIA) focuses on assessing the potential impacts of three health determinants and presents recommendations to enhance health-promoting elements and mitigate negative health elements (summarized in Table 1).
Decision‐making on the exact alignment of the expansion project is currently in progress, however this HIA is timely for informing an alignment decision to better serve the broader goals of the City in promoting health, protecting the environment, and supporting local businesses.
Evaluating the Safe Routes to School Program in NE & Outer East PortlandRay Atkinson
An issue that has impacted the constituency of the Portland African American Leadership Forum (PAALF) is gentrification of Northeast Portland neighborhoods and displacement of the African American communities residing in those neighborhoods. Many of the displaced are finding themselves in Outer East Portland, an area that has seen much less infrastructure investment in comparison to inner Portland neighborhoods. Sensing this was an important concern, our team chose to examine the extent of the disparity in investment by measuring the quality of the Safe Routes to School program in the two areas.
PHP Frameworks: I want to break free (IPC Berlin 2024)Ralf Eggert
In this presentation, we examine the challenges and limitations of relying too heavily on PHP frameworks in web development. We discuss the history of PHP and its frameworks to understand how this dependence has evolved. The focus will be on providing concrete tips and strategies to reduce reliance on these frameworks, based on real-world examples and practical considerations. The goal is to equip developers with the skills and knowledge to create more flexible and future-proof web applications. We'll explore the importance of maintaining autonomy in a rapidly changing tech landscape and how to make informed decisions in PHP development.
This talk is aimed at encouraging a more independent approach to using PHP frameworks, moving towards a more flexible and future-proof approach to PHP development.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
Speakers:
Bob Boule
Robert Boule is a technology enthusiast with PASSION for technology and making things work along with a knack for helping others understand how things work. He comes with around 20 years of solution engineering experience in application security, software continuous delivery, and SaaS platforms. He is known for his dynamic presentations in CI/CD and application security integrated in software delivery lifecycle.
Gopinath Rebala
Gopinath Rebala is the CTO of OpsMx, where he has overall responsibility for the machine learning and data processing architectures for Secure Software Delivery. Gopi also has a strong connection with our customers, leading design and architecture for strategic implementations. Gopi is a frequent speaker and well-known leader in continuous delivery and integrating security into software delivery.
