Civil engineering deals with designing, constructing, and maintaining infrastructure like roads, bridges, canals, dams, and buildings. According to former US President and engineer Herbert Hoover, engineers have their works out in the open for all to see. If an engineer's designs do not work properly, they will be blamed. Detailing is as important as design in engineering projects, as defective connections or details have caused some of history's worst structural collapses. Proper detailing is necessary to safely execute structures and translate mathematical designs for both steel and reinforced concrete members.
