Circulatory shock is a life-threatening condition where tissues do not receive enough blood flow resulting in cell injury. There are four types of shock: hypovolemic, distributive, cardiogenic, and obstructive. Cardiogenic shock symptoms include distended jugular veins, weakness, abnormal heart rhythms often with a fast heart rate, and reduced blood pressure. Treatment for cardiogenic shock includes blood transfusions, plasma transfusions, avoiding sedatives, and preventing overwarming of the body.
