Cinema Paradiso Essay
Writing an essay on the topic of "Cinema Paradiso" can be both challenging and rewarding. On
one hand, the film is rich with themes, symbolism, and emotional depth, providing ample
material for analysis and interpretation. On the other hand, this richness can also make it difficult
to narrow down a specific focus and craft a coherent argument.
To effectively tackle this topic, one must delve deep into the film's narrative, characters,
cinematography, and cultural context. It requires careful viewing and critical thinking to uncover
the layers of meaning embedded within the story of friendship, love, loss, and the power of
cinema.
Moreover, conveying one's thoughts and insights in a well-structured and articulate essay
demands time and effort. From outlining key points to crafting a compelling thesis statement,
every step requires attention to detail and clarity of expression.
However, despite its challenges, writing an essay on "Cinema Paradiso" offers a unique
opportunity to engage with a timeless piece of cinematic art and explore its significance in the
broader landscape of film history and culture.
In conclusion, while it may pose certain difficulties, delving into the world of "Cinema Paradiso"
through an essay can be a fulfilling intellectual endeavor for those passionate about cinema and
storytelling.

The warrant can be issued under section 1 of the magistrates courts act (1980) and
must contain the name of the suspect and the offence they are alleged to have
committed. The decision to issue a warrant rests soley with the magistrate.
If the magistrate issues a warrant, the police officer may then make the arrest, even if
they have to use reasonable force to enter premises where they think the suspect
might be. The majority of warrants issued in England and Wales are for matters such
as matters such as:
Failure to appear in court
Breach of bail conditions
Failing to pay fines.
In reality, many arrests are carried out without a warrant. This is either because the
Police are called to the scene of a crime and must act rapidly, or because they do not
know who is about to be arrested before they deal with an incident and therefore
could not get a warrant.
Section 24 of PACE (1984) sets out the general powers of arrest which may be
exercised by the Police as well as the public. However, S24 of PACE was
substantially changed by the Serious Organised Crime and Police Act (SOCPA,
2005). Section 110 of SOCPA replaced most of the existing powers of arrest with a
new general power of arrest. It also created Code G of PACE which sets out when an
officer might arrest. This power of arrest is only exercisable if the officer has
reasonable grounds for believing that it is necessary.

Pre-Calculus Research Paper
Prior to taking Pre Calculus I had taken College Algebra which has helped me
tremendously with the objectives of Pre Calculus. I learned basic algebra skills that
helped me advance in solving the objectives needed for the advancement of the
course. I am currently working for a construction framing business in which some
math skills are required. I plan on obtaining a major in structural engineering and a
minor in mechanical. The CollegeAlgebra class thought me how to add, subtract,
divide, and multiply fractions which I had always had difficulty with. I have yet to
master the skill, but because of Pre CalculusI am receiving a lot of practice, which
has helped me comprehend how to solve the math. College Algebra helped me
understand that math is basically a puzzle that needs to be solved with steps, because
of this understanding the math has become fun to solve. After solving a problem in

in the future was never important to me. Since deciding my future I obtained a job

building two of the hardest things to accomplish is the roof of the building which
has to have a slope, and an arc if the building were to have any luxury. The roof
requires a downward slope to get rid of water and debris, but to find the slope a
basic knowledge if trigonometry must be obtained first, which is where Pre

I, By The Audience Experienced The Journey Of Chris Ladd
In the short film i , the audience experienced the journey of Chris Ladd as he
worked to determine his true identity. His journey reflected the change in ideas and
measurement of personality over time. He ultimately concluded that there isn t a
way to label one s own identity, but rather all measurements are simply descriptors.
To arrive at this conclusion he partook in the three major methods of personality
study: Subjective, Objective and BLIS Data Inventories. Through these tests, it was
present that though major themes were continued throughout the process for Ladd,
each measurement gave a different and incomplete answer. This led me to believe
that if I were to also study my own identity, I would use similar but look at the
results through a different lens, specifically one of introspection. Ladd began his
journey with projective/subjective methods, which was completed through the use
of a psychic. He was critical of this methodology from the beginning, mainly due to
its founding in Freud and the lack of reliability in the studies. This is alluded to in
the film with the variability of answers to Rorschach Tests, which can be interpreted
differently by a patient each time, and the administrator can also interpret the
answers differently each time. When the psychic made a computing error, it acted as
a self fulfilling prophecy for Chris, and he even pointed out that her predictions for
his future fall in line with general hopes, such as living in a nice apartment in
Maya Vs Inca
Compare and Contrast
The Maya, Aztec, and Inca are different and similar in many ways. Let s start with
the Maya. The Mayans lived in Mexico and Central America, where they inhabited
lands like Yucatan, Quintana Roo, Campeche, Tabasco, and Chiapas southward in
Guatemala, Belize, El Salvador, and Honduras. The time period in which the Maya
had lived is from 1800 B.C 900 A.D. The capital of the Maya is Tikal, which was an
important place to the Maya.
Now, the Aztecare fairly similar to the Mayas in different ways. They were also
located in Mexico, which their capital is located in present day Mexico City. Built on
a series of islets in Lake Texcoco, the city plan was based on a symmetrical layout
which was divided into four sections called Campans. The time period in which the
Aztecs had lived is from 1325 A.D 1521 A.D. So, the Aztec were pretty much gone
before the Maya had started to be around. The capital of the Aztec is Tenochtitlan.
That s a long name for a capital of the Aztec.
The Inca, are pretty much the different kind of civilization out of any of them. They
are located in Peru, which is where the famous Machu Picchu was located. Cool

William Faulkner s A Rose For Emily

Emily Grierson s funeral in amongst her home. When Mr. Grierson died the family

When new mayors of the town came into action they tried to make the familypay

paying taxes had all passed away ten years before. The man everyone thought
Emily was to marry left her suddenly, the house began to smell a putrid odor, then
the judge of the town ordered for the property to have lime sprinkled around it.
Emily s father died, although for three days she refused to tell people he had died,

Summary Of Bound By Kehinde Wiley
The most influential artist to me in this exemplary in this pursuit for the
appropriated traditions is Kehinde Wiley. In his opening speech for the New
Republic gallery show he expressed that things such as his work was evolved around
the working of chance . In his case, he manipulates the chance of the representation
of the black demographic in traditional work. Modifying the figurative works to
create the chance for relating a body that is familiar. I see contemporary painter,
Kehinde Wileyas a comparable to my work in regards to the topic as well as the
manipulation of the human figure. The admirable features I see in Kehinde Wiley s
work in addition to these is the fantasy elements that are incorporated. These features
are best exhibited in his piece, Bound . The workis a bronze sculpture that stands
approximately four feet tall and two and half feet wide. The composition is inviting
as it includes busts of three identical women that have African descent features that
are placed on a rounded triangle base. The expressions on all of the facesare of a
staring and wondering nature that have a nature of regality as their faces are
turned to the right at an approximate forty five degree angle as their all have their
back facing each other to form a guard of the leaves the a laid on their base. The
bodies are cut organically as it rounds off from shoulder to shoulder, just enough to
form the upper torso to see the corset like dress that encompass the figure. Expanding
The Gentle Lena Essay
Lena s gentle, sweet, servant like behavior was a commentary on the way on the
way society saw and treated women in the early 20th century. Lena did not have an
opinion of her own, she did not know how to make decisions on her own; she was
told what to think, where to work, what to do with her money, her free time and her
future; her life was designed by someone else because she was a women and unable
to make decisions for herself. In the early 20th centurysociety treated women as
though they were not important, their duties were to have children, cook and clean
for their husbands and much like children of this timeperiod, women were to be were

Upon arrival in America Lena was made to work as a servant, while her Aunt

questioned why: why did she have to leave Germany and go to America, why did
she have to work as a servant, why did she have to go to her Aunt s house every
Sunday, why couldn t she spend the money she worked hard to make, why did she
have to get married when she enjoyed working as a servant for the family, why did
she have to marry Herman Kreder when he obviously did not want to marry her. Lena
was just expected, as women in that timeperiod were, to just submit to the whims of
the dominent member of her family. Lena was so dutiful throughout the story, dutiful
to the point where modern day readers may actually get frustrated or angry with this
character.
Lena lived her life passively and took what came her way without complaint; the
cook who scolded Lena a great deal but Lena s german patience held no suffering

she continued to go to their home every other Sunday as required by Mrs. Hoydon
...but it never came to Lena s unexpectant and unsuffering german nature to do

The Gettysburg Address Thesis
Lincoln, Gettysburg Address Analysis The Gettysburg Address was a speech given
by Abraham Lincoln at a cemetery for Union soldiers killed at the Battle of
Gettysburg during the American Civil War. While this address may not seem
controversial today, it was completely radical in 1863. When Lincoln began his
speech, he first referenced the Founding Fathers and what they had planned for the
new nation. We can easily connect this speech to previous readings, because Lincoln
drew words from the Declaration of Independence as he said that the new nation was
supposedly based on the idea that all men are created equal. Lincoln was essentially
saying that the Founding Fathers were merely the signers of the Declaration of
Independence, and not the signers of the Constitution. This speech was a message to
the Confederates who consistently pointed out that the Constitution did not prohibit
slavery. Lincoln implied that the Founding Fathers expressed what they really wanted
for the United States in the Declaration of Independence. My questions for the class

equal? and, Do you believe that the Constitution did not prohibit slavery? ... Show

Deep Ecology Essay
Whether its watching a whale jump up in the air and seeing him crashing back into
the water, or looking at all of the trees leafs changing colors in the fall time; nature
is a beautiful thing. In the past, traditional Native Americans once cared about the
land. The grass, trees, rocks, and everything else had value. Nowadays most people
are moving away from these ideas and moving towards a capitalist mindset, only
caring about their own personal gain. Deep ecologyis defined as an environmental
movement and philosophy that regards humanlife as just one of many equal
components of a global ecosystem (Google). Arne Naess was a Norwegian

This could potentially lead to the human population becoming extinct. I m not saying
this is going to actually happen or be an immediate result of our actions but this is
what the world is coming to. The companies are the indirect problem in this issue. It s
the population s demand that keeps these companies going which makes us the direct
source to the problem. Almost everyone is caught up in the capitalist mentality, only
caring about themselves and seeing how much money they can make. And when that
happens they go out and buy more products which have negatively affected the
environment. It s a vicious cycle that doesn t seem like it is coming to a stop anytime
soon.

Religious Experience Analysis
In William James s The Varieties of Religious Experience: A Study in Human
Nature and Г‰mile Durkheim s Elementary Forms of Religious life, the societal
implications of religion are examined and analyzed. James and Durkheim possess
fairly similar methodologies in their approaches to religion. Both scholars examine
religious phenomena based on the experience on the participants. For both of them
the religious experience is the point of departure for formulating a theory of religion
(Joas). James refutes medical materialism (James, 19) and argues that it is the
extreme cases of religious fervor where true religious experiences will be found and

One of Durkheim s key concepts is found in his analysis of moral life and that the
most fundamental structure for human belief was the distinction between the sacred
and profane (Lynch). The sacred things set apart and forbidden and the profane
mundane, ordinary, quotidian represent Durkheim s demonstration society s
tendency to develop categories for concepts and organizations in life. A version of
the sacred and profane can also be found in James s philosophy within his discussion
of solemnity . James says the sort of happiness in the absolute and everlasting is
what we find nowhere but in religion. It is parted off from all mere animal
happiness, all mere enjoyment of the present, by that element of solemnity of which I
have already made so much account. Solemnity is a hard thing to define abstractly,
but certain marks are patent enough. A solemn state of mind is never cruel or simple
it seems to contain a certain measure of its own opposite in solution (James 45) These

what define societies and demonstrate collective individual will (Seligman). This

behavior modification involves the manipulation reinforcing stimuli so as to reward
the desired activity. The aim is to reward immediately all instance of the wanted
behavior, but to ignore all instances of unexpected behavior (because even negative
recognition can act as reinforcer). This is based on the principle of extinction:
behavior will stop eventually if it is not rewarded. Not surprisingly given the period
when it is emerged, the Behaviorist approach faces in many respects that of the
Classical School representing human as machine responding only to external stimuli.

The Influences of the Brothers Grimm Essay
The Brothers Grimm were academics best known for publishing collections of
folk tales and fairy tales, which became massively popular. (Zipes p. 7) Born in
Hanau, Germany, a year apart, with Jacob Ludwig Karl Grimm born the oldest, on
January 4, 1985, and Wilhelm Karl Grimm on February 24, 1786. Their family
consisted of nine other siblings, six of which survived infancy, and their parents.
(Zipes p. 9) Their early childhood was described as idyllic with them living in a
beautiful countryside home while their father, Philip Wilhelm, was employed by the
Prince of Hessen. However, when Jacob was eleven years and Wilhelm only ten,
their father died, and their fortune dramatically declined to nothing. Their family was

This entire collection helped establish the science of folklore. (Grimm New World
Encyclopedia p.1) Their established principles strongly affected the advancement of
folklore studies. They incorporated fidelity into their literature, without the use of
add ons, and though it was obvious that they didn t practice what they preached , the
style of their literature, an idealized morality , was much closer to reality then older
thought literary repetitions that were thought to be necessary. They urged fidelity to
the spoken text, without embellishments, and though it has been shown that they
did not always practice what they preached, the idealized morality of their style
was much closer to reality than the literary retellings previously thought necessary.
(Simpson Roud p. 197) Their belief of folklore was that it expressed moral and
spiritual values of a nation, preserved by the faithful uneducated population, and that
it was made up of bits and pieces of myths and religious values. Reflecting back on
their collection, though it became immensely popular, they were essentially a result
of the linguistic research, which was the Brothers goal. (Grimm New World
Encyclopedia p.1) It can be stated that they found inspiration in the form of their
professor, Friedrich von Savigny who seemed to awaken an interest in the past for the
two young men. Other influences included often in the brothers writing was the
symbolism of a young girl
My Mom Maria Castaneda Cervantes
My mom Maria Castaneda Cervantes was born on July 24, 1970 in a small town
called Maquili, Michoacan. She was born into a big family of 5 which later on
grew into a family of 9. She was Maria Cruz and Audel Cervantes s (my
grandparents) first daughter which made her the favorite little girl of the house in
her first two years of life. But later on her younger sister Araceli was born and three
years later Anna was born. After Anna was born everything changed. Due to my
grandma s asthma she wasn t able to take care of the babies as much anymore and
would get hospitalized for weeks. My grandpa was also working all night being a

Also, at the age of 12 my mom had to stop going to school even though she

But living in a small town that only had elementary school made it very hard and
almost impossible to have permission by her parents to go to a different town and

the only thing my grandpa gave her was a huge slap across her face. My mom still

Organic Food Social Justice Issue
operations to heavily processed foods are making their way onto store shelves and
passing off as USDA organic. The regulations that are in place are keeping small
farmers out of the loop. The price to register as organic with the USDA is too
much for small farmers to afford. The low prices offered by corporations are out
competing the small farmers. In addition to this, many foods that are pre frozen,
packaged, and full of dozens of ingredients are labeled organic. And if this was not
enough, an enormous quantity of organic foods is being shipped to the United States
from overseas. These shipped foods come with very low prices that the local farmer
cannot match. The social justice issue is the suppression of the true organic

What is healthier, a frozen apple pie, labeled USDA organic but containing a
dozen ingredients, or an apple from your local farmer s market? The farmer may
be using pesticides and artificial fertilizer; things that were not used in the apple
pie. However, the apple pie may have been made with apples shipped from New
Zealand or across the world, and it may list ingredients that are just as perplexing as
fast food ingredients; carrageenan, xanthan gum, soy lecithin, inulin, tetrasodium
pyrophosphate. All these additives are allowed for use in USDA organic foods.
There are an increasing amount of people with interest in organic foods. However,
the actual concepts between these health foods is leading to confusion and
frustration. My first goal is to define the terms used in the health food industry. For
example, the term organic can be misleading. It can be defined by the USDA, or by
other organizations by state or by other countries. The terms sustainable or fair trade
are often combined on organic food labels, but the common consumer does not
comprehend what they mean. Even the term whole foods has lost its true meaning,
due to conjuring up the image of Whole Foods
Annie Between The States Analysis
Annie Between the States Imagine You were in the Civil War and you were a
southern girl and you admired a Northern Guy, what would that be like? Annie
Between the States is a story about how people in and out of the Civil War change.
L.M. Elliott the author uses the raids of the houses to show how much supplies,
goods, and food is stolen or taken from houses and families during the Civil War.
In one of the raids in Annie Between the States, people called Yankees raided a
town called Manassas. In the raid a lot of things were stolen from just one house,
so imagine how much they stole from the whole town! This time when they
squabbled over Manassas, the Yankees took everything, Annie. They cut down all
my corn for their horses, chopped down my apple trees for their campfires. They
took off with my gobblers, even though poor Will stood outside the pen and
begged them not to take the turkeys. (pg. 218) This shows that there was a lot of
goods, supplies and food stolen from houses in the civil war. In another raid that
was lead by union troops raided a house called hickory heights. look under the

Civil war in with the book. I think that a lot of the book was accurate. It was just a
little confusing with the characters, but it was a good
Allusions In History
Reference to History in Pop Culture
All throughout modern and pop culture there are many different allusions that lead
and reference back to ancient times. Many of these reference are not where you
would expect them to be either while watching a movie, or TV show, or even
listening to music. For example, Achilles Last Stand by Robert Plant of Led
Zeppelin, Moon Knight by Marvel Comics, and Aladdin by Walt Disney Features
Animation all have some type of allusion to the past in the Ancient world. In the song
Achilles Last Stand, Robert Plant writes about many different aspects of Greek
Mythology. He refers not only to the mythological warrior Achilles but he also
describes the Atlas Mountains. But as he describes Atlas Mountain there is a double
meaning behind his lyric The mighty arms of Atlas hold the heavens from the Earth.

The Moon Knight is based on the Egyptian moon god Khonshu. Before the Moon
Knight became who he is, Khonshu appeared to him in a dream and asked him to
become his earthly avatar. After becoming the Moon knight, he decides to become
a crime fighter. Even though the Comic is not well known it does have influence
from the Egyptian gods. A more common and well known movie that had an
allusion into ancient Rome is that of Aladdin by Walt Disney Features Animation.
During the scene when Genie is transforms Aladdin into a prince he is looking

Fair Value Accounting Is Worth Being Used
There have been many debates in previous decades amongst the investors, users of
the financial statements, on whether fair value accounting is worth being used.
According to IFRS 13, fair value is the price that would be received to sell an asset
or paid to transfer a liability in an orderly transaction between market participants at
the measurement date . Usage of fair valuehas advantages, however, it has
disadvantages as well. This essay will discuss how fair value is more advantageous
than disadvantageous and how it is carried out. It will also examine how fair value
led Lehman Brothers, an American investment bank, into bankruptcy during the
global financial crisis and why the trend of fair value has emerged in the recent
decades.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is beneficial for the investors as it means that they can be confident that their
decisions are correct and that the finances of the business will not suddenly change.
Bubble prices can be an issue for investors as it may mislead them into making poor
investing decisions. There is plenty of empirical evidence to show that bubble prices
exist (Ryan, 2008). These price bubbles, according to Penman (2007), are introduced
into financial statements through the usage of fair value accounting. He goes on to
say that this causes bubble gains to reflect on the income statement, and these may,
falsely, show the company as being healthy which could lull investors into a false
sense of security. These bubbles also result in the investor receiving ineffective
financial statements which will impair their decision making. An example of this
would be where investors pay prices that far exceed their own valuation (Scheinkman
and Xiong, 2003). This would make it tough for investors to earn a reasonable return
on their investments. However, the research fails to consider the difficulties locating
price bubbles or how investors can prevent themselves from being misled. It also fails
to consider that bubble prices show the current trading price, albeit inflated, and
therefore show the true value of the investment according to current prices.

Artemisia Gentileschi Madonna And Child
The bond between mother and child has been a constant theme in the world of the
humanities. While that bond has been the same throughout history, its portrayal in art
has varied from decade to decade. Two artists, Artemisia Gentileschi and Mary
Cassatt, chose to create pieces based on this bond, but the use of mediums and the
influence from religion (or the lack thereof) help to distinguish between the artists
and their time periods. Artemisia Gentileschi s Madonnaand Child, was created during
the Baroque Period, c. 1609 (Brash), when the Catholic Church was sponsoring the
arts to return to traditions Protestantism had disregarded (Baroque Artists). Created in
Rome, this painting shows the mother, Madonna, holding her child, the young... Show

Even with the difference in periods of time, both women chose to paint a mother and
child in a tender moment. One, Artemisia s show the mother preparing to feed her
young, while Mary Cassatt chose to depict a mother s embrace. Both show the unity
in the maternal bond. The mothers in each of the images appears relaxed, content
with her child. In Madonna and Child (Brash) , the mother s face is serene as she
looks down at her hungry child. Her body is relaxed and leaning in. In The Young
Mother ( The Young Mother ), the mother sits, with a slight smile, giving her the
appearance of bliss and contentment in the simple act of holding her child. The
child in each painting is an older baby, instead of a newborn, allowing the artists to
show the child being old enough to hold himself up and be aware of his
surroundings. By doing this, the artists were able to show the connection between the
mother and child is mutual, that the child is aware of his mother s love in holding or
feeding, and feels love in return. both artists use light to spotlight the mother and
child. While the Baroque Period used bolder light and shadow (Baroque and the Age
of Enlightenment 2.14), and Impressionists focused more on the way light fell across
surfaces (Gersh Nesic), both utilized light to call attention to the mother and child.
Finally, both images focus on only the mother and child with no other beings or
distractions in the portraits. Doing this allows the viewer to become immersed in the
moment and the bond

Antidepressant Properties of Crocus sativus
Introduction: Crocus sativus is a perennial flowering plant that is commonly known
as saffron crocus or sometimes autumn crocus. The taxonomy of the plant is as
follows; Division: Spermatophyta, Sub division: Angiospermae, Class:
Monocotyledonae, Sub class: Liliidae, Order: Liliales, Family: Iridaceae, Genus:
Crocus. (Saxena, R. B.) Most well known for it s culinary use, Crocus sativus is
highly sought after for the use of it s stigmas which are used for saffron. In addition to
the culinary use of the stigmas, C. sativus has long been employed as an herbal
remedy for many years and across many different cultures. Recent studies have been
focused on determining the anti depressant qualities of the plant. Depression is an
increasingly common concern in today s society. Current estimates indicate that 11%
of Americans take prescription antidepressant medication and antidepressants were
the third most common prescription drug taken by Americans (Pratt, L.A.). In
consideration of the rate of depression symptoms, and antidepressant use, the search
for alternative therapeutic methods is at the frontline of many research projects.
Current research methods include randomized trials in which the therapeutic effects
of C. sativus are compared with common prescription medications such as fluoxetine
(selective serotonin re uptake inhibitor) and imipramine (tricyclic antidepressant).

What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of ISDN
ISDN
ISDN means integrated services digital network.
Defenation
It is just a communicational standard used for transmitting video and data digital
telephone lines or normal telephone wires. This standard support data transfer rates
of 64 kbps. It is the initial high speed internet service. [1]
ISDN internet service is simply a telephone based network system that operates by a
circuit switch, or dedicated line. It can transmit data and phone conversations
digitally over normal telephone wires. This makes it both faster and of higher quality
than dial up internet service.[2]

Advantages of ISDN Lines:[7]
1.The primary advantage of ISDN line is it is a Digital Line and hence the voice
quality is preferable to analog circuits.
2.The ISDN line can carry voice , data , video and fax information in exactly the
same line.
3.Each ISDN line can provide a bandwidth of 128 Kbps both in the upstream direction
in addition to the downstream direction this feature enables it to carry video
communications in realtime at both ends.
4.Since ISDN is a routine switched network, there is little if any data loss while
transmitting data (In packet switched networks, there is some data loss across the
propagation path and hence information must be re transmitted, sometimes).
5.Trouble shooting a Digital Network now is easier than trouble shooting analog
circuits. Faults could be rectified faster and the network performance is very reliable
and predictable.
6.When compared to ADSL, ISDN BRI can travel for longer distances and hence
suited to remote Access to the internet.
7.With ISDN, the call set and up tear down is faster than analog
Using Data Analysis And Record Keeping
Excel and access are two different programs that are used in data analysis and
record keeping. They both have their advantages and disadvantages of using them
but over the years one has grown to dominate the field of records and analysis.
Access is made up of seven major components which are relationships, queries,
forms, reports, modules, tables and macros (Brady Monk, 2009). Due to this
complexity of divisions, using it becomes cumbersome the hence not the right tool
for data analysis unlike excel where you only enter the data in tables. Over the
years excel has proven to be the perfect platform to collect and analyze data on.
This is due to constant improvements in data analysis formulas, graphs, charts and
analysis styles the latest one being pivot tables. The greatest advantage of excel is
that it is easily compatible with other business software s hence ability to offer
better results. Giving the ease of entering data in excel the first priority in the
hierarchy of its advantages, other facts that stand out in excel include building great
charts using pie charts and graphs. This will help a lot in the presentation of data
collected. Use of conditional formatting is another fact that makes excel stand out
against access. This is because you have the ability to format orders differently
depending on customers or goods ordered. The last very important advantage of
excel is the ability to analyze data and identify different trends of different customers
or goods

There was only one officer who saw what Des did but he died in the result of the

The Soviet Union During World War II
Emerging victoriously from World War II, America became the leader of the free
market capitalist world, and proved to be a military, economic, and political
powerhouse. However, as one major war came to a close, another battle was brewing
between the democratic United States and the communist Soviet Union. As the
Soviet Unionexpanded farther West into Europe, America as well as its NATO allies
worked together in an effort to contain the USSR s expanding communist party. The
Cold War went far beyond a battle between different ideologies. Rather, it developed
into a global conflict where espionage, treason, and massive propaganda campaigns
were inflicted on all aspects of individuals lives internationally. The plausibility of
communismseeping into the confinements of the United States caused nation wide
fear to erupt. American businesses feared the idea of a communistic revolution on the
basis that it would disturb the very groundwork that holds capitalism together. As a
result, the House Un American Activities Committee(HUAC) was formed to
investigate communist and fascist organizations within America. Unfortunately, the
controversial tactics used during the HUAC hearings contributed to the fear,
blacklisting, and repression that existed from 1940 through the 1950s. In the midst of
the Cold War, several American opinions materialized concerning the role of the
HUAC, in which Americans either praised the committee for its patriotic ideals,
applauded but recognized the

The question of whether or not people with intellectual disabilities should bear
children is nothing new. Court ordered sterilizations of the intellectually disabled
were commonly practiced during the first half of the 20th century as eugenics
movements swept the globe. It was assumed that people who had intellectual
disabilities were not capable of being good parents and would conceive children who
also had a disability. This population of people was not desirable and fell victim of
eugenics, which also happened to be gaining popularity in Nazi Germany. As most

when that child grows to outsmart you? We would never consider that an 8 year old
would be an acceptable parent and I believe that the same goes for
All Over America, There Is A Growing Problem, And That
All over America, there is a growing problem, and that problem is the growing piles
of food that end up in our nation s landfills. The United States Department of
Agriculture (USDA) estimates that in 2010 alone, there was an average of 133
billion pounds of food worth an estimated $161.6 billion wasted in the United
States (St. Clair). Unfortunately, all of this food does not just break down. Because
of how tightly packed the garbage in landfills is there is almost no oxygen reaching
the food while it breaks down (Kulpinski 1), so while the food will slowly
decompose it will produce large amounts of methane. Jonathan Bloom, a published
food waste expert, warns that 23% of methane, a powerful greenhouse gaswhich has a

In a perfect world, all entities that handle food (restaurants, homes, grocery stores,
etc.) would compost their leftovers, but in reality, it is difficult or even impossible
to push regulations on all of these sources of food waste. Schools, however, are
already overseen by the local government so they are much easier to oversee.
Schools would be able to compost most food scraps. Although meats and dairy
products would not be able to be composted, the majority of food waste from
schools would work fine (foods like bread, vegetables, and fruits). Beginning a food
recycling or compost program for both middle and high schools would work
particularly well because the students are old enough to do much of the required
work involved in composting and they would be likely to volunteer to do it if it were
considered an extracurricular activity that went on their transcripts. To began,
composting would not only reduce the amount of food in landfills, it would also
reduce methane gas. Methane in landfills is produced because of lack of oxygen
that reaches the decomposing waste. But when composting is done correctly,
methane production is much smaller. In order to correctly compost, food scraps
must be turned on a semi regular basis as well as be lightly watered and the food
waste (an organic material) must be mixed with a carbon based material (paper or
wood chips) in order for it to

Up until the 20th century, America had only attained a notable relationship between
Cuba and Mexico, any other relationship between other Latin American countries
was due to small levels of trade. The majority of Latin American countries were

What I Learned From Class
Last year I came across a shocking discovery. One that made me question my
ethnic background as a whole. My biological father told me that he is originally
from Ireland and at the age of 9 he moved to America. When my dad lived in
Ireland he lived with my grandparents eventually his mother moved to America;
after the divorce. Since his father was unable to take care of him he was put in an
orphanage, since they had no knowledge on where his mother was. Eventually, after
4 years he was adopted by my grandmother who lived in Brooklyn, New York. My
grandparents were on vacation in Irelandwhen they met my father visiting an
orphanage and decided to adopt him. However, my father told me about Ireland
and how the lifestyle he was custom to in Ireland is completely different from the
lifestyle he had to grow accustom to in America. Some of the stories I was able to
draw a comparison with to what we learned from class. The first story I was told is
that he was not the only child in the orphanage moving to America from Ireland.
There was a group of eight that flew together and escaped the lonely life of being by
themselves. Shortly after moving to Brooklyn, New York, my father started to attend
public school and mentioned how public schools were completely different than the
schools he attended in Ireland. After doing research I found out that in the 1980s
schools in Ireland were receiving a large amount of funds from the government
(Carone 5). However, Ireland s school system into
Yeezus Kanye Analysis
Intro
Yeezus is probably best summed up by the first sound you hear after turning it on. A
deafening distorted synth assaults your ears while Kanye reminds us that he s
number one. This overwhelming introduction was specifically chosen by Kanye for
the purpose of conveying the themes of anger and frustration that will appear
throughout the album. It s marked by songs where Kanye declares himself a God and
moments of the most extreme egoism in modern music.
Ye is...shockingly different. It begins with a quiet passage of what I think is
manipulated vocals creating a simple, relaxed melody. Kanye starts rapping about
something we ve never really heard him discuss before: his internal monologue. It
sounds calm, like a warm summer morning. Kanye isn t yelling, he s not telling us
how much of a legend he is. Instead he s painting a picture of his struggle with
mental illness. So how the hell are these two albums related? Despite the massive
chasm between them in production, lyricism and presentation...I see them as two
sides of the same coin and together they create a beautiful narrative about who
Kanye is as a person. Let s learn more. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Titled I Thought About Killing You, it s at first a confusing listen until you consider
that the person Kanye wants to kill is his ego. He s starting to resent the manic
persona he s become known for over the years, and the whole of this rather short
eighth album is a revocation of his past transgressions as a larger than life

Elements of Religious Traditions paper In today s world, there are many religions
and, they all practice and worship in different ways. They all have certain beliefs,
certain rituals and, traditions that they carry. This paper will explain how religious
traditions describe and encourage the relationship with the divine; the relationship
with the sacred time; the relationship with sacred space or the natural world; and the
relationship with each other. This paper will also identify key critical issues in the
study of religion. The relationship with the divine is understanding of the divine such

Moslems pause through the day for prayer times, and they may even have certain
areas or a special rug and candles that they use. They pray to Ali (which is their God)
the highest spirit there is. They believe that Ali is their father and in everything
that they do has to come from or be accepted by him. There other certain holy days
and festivals these religions have. Some those are most known are Yom Kippur
and Rosh Hashanah which, is celebrated by Jews, Ramadan, which is celebrated by
Moslems, and Christmas and Easter, which is celebrated by Christians. Next these
religions have sacred space, let s see the relationship in which each religion shares
with this. Sacred space usually relates to a special place of worship and beyond
that to places within that space, for example Christian the sacred place is the
Church and within the church they go to the altar. Jews have the synagogue and
within the synagogue they have a confessional and alter. Moslems have a mosque
and within the mosque is usually a carpeted area light with candles where they pray
on their knees. Some others are burial mounds native Americans most commonly
have these. Buddhist temples and so forth. These may also be considered the
dwelling place of the religions. God We will explore the relationship they carry with
each other. The relationship to other people explains or establishes who may become

Us Containment Policy Research Paper
The U.S. Containment Policy In the World War II, two super power and allies, the
United States and Soviet Union fought together with different reasons. The United
States wanted stop Nazi German, but the Soviet Union wanted absolute control of the
Eastern Europe countries. These differences brought tension to the relationship
between them, which Americans started to concern about Joseph Stalin, the Russian
leader. First, in the Stalin speech in 1946, he stated the only key to future world
peace was for monopoly capitalism to be replaced by Communism around the world.
It became clear to the Supreme Court Justice William Douglas that Stalin was
declaring another World War based in his ideology. (Fraser 697). Based on Stalin
speech, the American embassy in Moscow, George Kennan sent the Long Telegram ,
which he explained his strategy of containment against Soviet Union, a political force
committed fanatically to the belief that with the U.S. there can be no permanent
modus vivendi [agreement between parties that disagree] ; as a result, America s only
choice... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Meanwhile, the British Prime Minister Winston Churchill stated in the Westminster
College in Fulton, Missouri with the presence of the president Truman that From
Stettin in the Baltic to Trieste in the Adriatic, an iron curtain has descended across the
continent. Also, Churchill spoke about the communist fifth columns that were
operating in the western and southern Europe. Churchill s speech promoted the Cold
War beginning. (History 2009). In sum, Americans concluded that Stalin communism
ideals were actions of an evil and tyranny leadership, which the Cold War was
Describe How The Design Of Respiratory System

DESCRIBE HOW THE DESIGN OF RESPIRATORY SYSTEM FACILITATES
GAS EXCHANGE?
SID:
Process of respiration involves supply of oxygen to blood cells (oxygen intake) and
excretion of carbon dioxide and other waste (CO2 excretion). Purified blood is
carried to all parts of the body by blood vessels in order to achieve gaseous exchange
at cell level. This process is carried out through a complex system called Respiratory
System. Organs which comprise respiratory system include mouth, nasal passage,
glottis, trachea, larynx, pharynx, bronchi, bronchioles, alveoli and last but not the
least lungs.
In the following lines, we ll discuss in details how the structures of respiratory system
accomplish exchange of gases.
The upper respiratory tract comprises those organs that bring the air in and lower
respiratory tract comprises those parts that process the air. Upper respiratory tract
starts from the nose and the mouth. They enable the air to enter through external
nares (nostrils). Behind the nostrils there are little shelves of bone called nasal
conchae (superior, middle and inferior). They divide the nasal cavity into thin
passages called meatuses. (Jahangir, 2015). Surface areas of nasal conchae creates
turbulence, forcing the air to get bounced in the nasal cavity and increase the surface
area of these cavities, thus allowing the mucus to trap the dirt, bacteria and enable
only warm, clean and moist air as it passes down to the lungs. (Rogers, 2012)

The Organisms And Its Effects On Our Daily
Environmental...
Introduction
A microbe is described in the dictionary as a microorganism, especially a bacterium
causing disease or fermentation. The thought of these bacteria make some people
shudder; the thoughts of unseen enemies crawling on surfaces and primary areas of
life. To prevent the spread an overgrowth of the organisms, we as a race have
invented and developed many innovations. Although these fears are justified, could it
be that these microbes we fear so much, exist in greater numbers within us than on
our daily environmental surfaces. If samples were taken from different areas on a
college campus that are assumed to be dense with bacteria, would the intensity of
growth be greater than samples taken from the human body?
Material and Methods
Students were provided with the following equipment in a sterilized Microbiology
Lab. Cotton Swabs Distilled Water Test Tubes with caps Petri Dishes Nutrient Agar
Blood Agar Inoculation Loop Bunsen Burner Slides Pipette Compound Light
Microscope Various Reagents.
Students were asked to gather samples from four sites on a college campus where it
was believed bacteria would be most concentrated. Students were also asked to
collect samples from their inner nose and throat. The four environments that were
supposed to have a dense congregation of microbes on campus were: the Science

The Case Of Slk V Myrick
Is there a contractual agreement on the basis of which Nick has a duty to pay John
a bonus of $1,000? RULE: These facts are from the case of Nick v John. The case
bears a remarkable similarity to Stilk v Myrick [1809] . Both cases are concerned
with fulfilling of the existing signed contract and a performance based promise made
which was ultimately denied. The problem is that the bonus is mentioned upon
unclear measures of performance, there is an intention to pay if things run smoothly.
The courts may say that there is an intention to fulfil the promised bonus based on
the consideration of the level of performing an act. APPLY: In Stilk v Myrick
[1809]1, it was held that on the evidence of the signed contract the plaintiff was
bound to do a duty under an existing contract and that duty could not be considered
valid consideration for a new contract.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nick is not obliged to pay John a promised bonus of $1,000 as it was John s duty to
provide successful, smooth running catering services in the first place. The court
may say that the extra bonus payment was initially not included in the contractual
agreement as the criteria on which the bonus would be rewarded were not clearly
mentioned when both the parties were entering into the contract. CONCLUSION:
Accordingly, there was a contract between Nick and John stating Nick was liable to
pay John $5,000 for the services and he did but not for the later. John should have
confirmed the measures on which the performance bonus would be given. 2.Nick and

Character Foils In Hamlet
In William Shakespeare s Hamlet, Hamlet has three main character foils: Laertes,
Ophelia, and Fortinbras.
Hamlet s main character foil is Laertes, son of Polonius and brother of Ophelia. At
the beginning of the play, we learn that Hamlets father is murdered by his uncle from
the ghost of his father. The ghost tells Hamlet The serpent that did sting thy father s
life now wears his crown (I.2.41 42). In Act III Scene 4 Hamlet kills Laertes father
Polonius in Gertrude s chambers. The death of Hamlet s dad had a very depressing
effect on him. He asks himself many questions before taking revenge for his father.
Laertes, on the other hand, takes immediate action. Laertes quickly returns to France
as soon as he hears about Polonius death. Once

It requires careful viewing and critical thinking to uncover the layers of meaning embedded within the story of friendship, love, loss, and the power of cinema. The warrant can be issued under section 1 of the magistrates courts act (1980) and must contain the name of the suspect and the offence they are alleged to have committed. The decision to issue a warrant rests soley with the magistrate. If the magistrate issues a warrant, the police officer may then make the arrest, even if they have to use reasonable force to enter premises where they think the suspect might be. The majority of warrants issued in England and Wales are for matters such as matters such as: Failure to appear in court Breach of bail conditions Failing to pay fines. In reality, many arrests are carried out without a warrant. This is either because the Police are called to the scene of a crime and must act rapidly, or because they do not know who is about to be arrested before they deal with an incident and therefore could not get a warrant. Section 110 of SOCPA replaced most of the existing powers of arrest with a new general power of arrest. It also created Code G of PACE which sets out when an officer might arrest. This power of arrest is only exercisable if the officer has reasonable grounds for believing that it is necessary. The following extract is taken directly from

I have yet to master the skill, but because of Pre CalculusI am receiving a lot of practice, which has helped me comprehend how to solve the math. To build a building two of the hardest things to accomplish is the roof of the building which has to have a slope, and an arc if the building were to have any luxury. The roof requires a downward slope to get rid of water and debris, but to find the slope a basic knowledge if trigonometry must be obtained first, which is where Pre Calculus helped me understand the math to create the roof of a building. His journey reflected the change in ideas and measurement of personality over time. He ultimately concluded that there isn t a way to label one s own identity, but rather all measurements are simply descriptors. To arrive at this conclusion he partook in the three major methods of personality study: Subjective, Objective and BLIS Data Inventories. Through these tests, it was present that though major themes were continued throughout the process for Ladd, each measurement gave a different and incomplete answer. This led me to believe that if I were to also study my own identity, I would use similar but look at the results through a different lens, specifically one of introspection. Ladd began his journey with projective/subjective methods, which was completed through the use of a psychic. He was critical of this methodology from the beginning, mainly due to its founding in Freud and the lack of reliability in the studies. This is alluded to in the film with the variability of answers to Rorschach Tests, which can be interpreted differently by a patient each time, and the administrator can also interpret the answers differently each time. When the psychic made a computing error, it acted as a self fulfilling prophecy for Chris, and he even pointed out that her predictions for his future fall in line with general hopes, such as living in a nice apartment in

The workis a bronze sculpture that stands approximately four feet tall and two and half feet wide. The composition is inviting as it includes busts of three identical women that have African descent features that are placed on a rounded triangle base. The expressions on all of the facesare of a staring and wondering nature that have a nature of regality as their faces are turned to the right at an approximate forty five degree angle as their all have their back facing each other to form a guard of the leaves the a laid on their base. The Gettysburg Address Thesis Lincoln, Gettysburg Address Analysis The Gettysburg Address was a speech given by Abraham Lincoln at a cemetery for Union soldiers killed at the Battle of Gettysburg during the American Civil War. While this address may not seem controversial today, it was completely radical in 1863. When Lincoln began his speech, he first referenced the Founding Fathers and what they had planned for the new nation. We can easily connect this speech to previous readings, because Lincoln drew words from the Declaration of Independence as he said that the new nation was supposedly based on the idea that all men are created equal. Lincoln was essentially saying that the Founding Fathers were merely the signers of the Declaration of Independence, and not the signers of the Constitution. This speech was a message to the Confederates who consistently pointed out that the Constitution did not prohibit slavery. Lincoln implied that the Founding Fathers expressed what they really wanted for the United States in the Declaration of Independence. • 27. Allusions In History Reference to History in Pop Culture All throughout modern and pop culture there are many different allusions that lead and reference back to ancient times. Many of these reference are not where you would expect them to be either while watching a movie, or TV show, or even listening to music. For example, Achilles Last Stand by Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin, Moon Knight by Marvel Comics, and Aladdin by Walt Disney Features Animation all have some type of allusion to the past in the Ancient world. In the song Achilles Last Stand, Robert Plant writes about many different aspects of Greek Mythology. He refers not only to the mythological warrior Achilles but he also describes the Atlas Mountains. A more common and well known movie that had an allusion into ancient Rome is that of Aladdin by Walt Disney Features Animation. During the scene when Genie is transforms Aladdin into a prince he is looking through his book and refers to a Caesar salad but instead of a salad he gets a guy with a dagger. This is an allusion to the roman story of Julius Caesar, a roman noble that was stabbed to death by men of his own. Fair Value Accounting Is Worth Being Used There have been many debates in previous decades amongst the investors, users of the financial statements, on whether fair value accounting is worth being used. According to IFRS 13, fair value is the price that would be received to sell an asset or paid to transfer a liability in an orderly transaction between market participants at the measurement date . Usage of fair valuehas advantages, however, it has disadvantages as well. This essay will discuss how fair value is more advantageous than disadvantageous and how it is carried out. It will also examine how fair value led Lehman Brothers, an American investment bank, into bankruptcy during the global financial crisis and why the trend of fair value has emerged in the recent decades.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is beneficial for the investors as it means that they can be confident that their decisions are correct and that the finances of the business will not suddenly change. Bubble prices can be an issue for investors as it may mislead them into making poor investing decisions. There is plenty of empirical evidence to show that bubble prices exist (Ryan, 2008). These price bubbles, according to Penman (2007), are introduced into financial statements through the usage of fair value accounting. He goes on to say that this causes bubble gains to reflect on the income statement, and these may, falsely, show the company as being healthy which could lull investors into a false sense of security. These bubbles also result in the investor receiving ineffective financial statements which will impair their decision making. An example of this would be where investors pay prices that far exceed their own valuation (Scheinkman and Xiong, 2003). This would make it tough for investors to earn a reasonable return on their investments. However, the research fails to consider the difficulties locating price bubbles or how investors can prevent themselves from being misled. It also fails to consider that bubble prices show the current trading price, albeit inflated, and therefore show the true value of the investment according to current prices. When there is

While that bond has been the same throughout history, its portrayal in art has varied from decade to decade. Two artists, Artemisia Gentileschi and Mary Cassatt, chose to create pieces based on this bond, but the use of mediums and the influence from religion (or the lack thereof) help to distinguish between the artists and their time periods. Artemisia Gentileschi s Madonnaand Child, was created during the Baroque Period, c. 1609 (Brash), when the Catholic Church was sponsoring the arts to return to traditions Protestantism had disregarded (Baroque Artists). The mothers in each of the images appears relaxed, content with her child. In Madonna and Child (Brash) , the mother s face is serene as she looks down at her hungry child. Her body is relaxed and leaning in. In The Young Mother ( The Young Mother ), the mother sits, with a slight smile, giving her the appearance of bliss and contentment in the simple act of holding her child. The child in each painting is an older baby, instead of a newborn, allowing the artists to show the child being old enough to hold himself up and be aware of his surroundings. By doing this, the artists were able to show the connection between the mother and child is mutual, that the child is aware of his mother s love in holding or feeding, and feels love in return. both artists use light to spotlight the mother and child. While the Baroque Period used bolder light and shadow (Baroque and the Age of Enlightenment 2.14), and Impressionists focused more on the way light fell across surfaces (Gersh Nesic), both utilized light to call attention to the mother and child. Finally, both images focus on only the mother and child with no other beings or distractions in the portraits. Doing this allows the viewer to become immersed in the moment and the bond

They both have their advantages and disadvantages of using them but over the years one has grown to dominate the field of records and analysis. Access is made up of seven major components which are relationships, queries, forms, reports, modules, tables and macros (Brady Monk, 2009). Due to this complexity of divisions, using it becomes cumbersome the hence not the right tool for data analysis unlike excel where you only enter the data in tables. Over the years excel has proven to be the perfect platform to collect and analyze data on. This is due to constant improvements in data analysis formulas, graphs, charts and analysis styles the latest one being pivot tables. The greatest advantage of excel is that it is easily compatible with other business software s hence ability to offer better results. Giving the ease of entering data in excel the first priority in the hierarchy of its advantages, other facts that stand out in excel include building great charts using pie charts and graphs. This will help a lot in the presentation of data collected. Use of conditional formatting is another fact that makes excel stand out against access. This is because you have the ability to format orders differently depending on customers or goods ordered. The last very important advantage of excel is the ability to analyze data and identify different trends of different customers or goods

SID: Process of respiration involves supply of oxygen to blood cells (oxygen intake) and excretion of carbon dioxide and other waste (CO2 excretion). Purified blood is carried to all parts of the body by blood vessels in order to achieve gaseous exchange at cell level. This process is carried out through a complex system called Respiratory System. Organs which comprise respiratory system include mouth, nasal passage, glottis, trachea, larynx, pharynx, bronchi, bronchioles, alveoli and last but not the least lungs. In the following lines, we ll discuss in details how the structures of respiratory system accomplish exchange of gases. The upper respiratory tract comprises those organs that bring the air in and lower respiratory tract comprises those parts that process the air. Upper respiratory tract starts from the nose and the mouth. They enable the air to enter through external nares (nostrils). Behind the nostrils there are little shelves of bone called nasal conchae (superior, middle and inferior). They divide the nasal cavity into thin passages called meatuses. (Jahangir, 2015). Surface areas of nasal conchae creates turbulence, forcing the air to get bounced in the nasal cavity and increase the surface area of these cavities, thus allowing the mucus to trap the dirt, bacteria and enable only warm, clean and moist air as it passes down to the lungs.
