The document outlines a lesson plan for teaching first grade students about the five senses. It will use various media like podcasts, videos, and storyboards to engage the students. The lesson plan aims to teach students the basic functions and identities of the five senses with 95% accuracy through interactive learning activities like songs and poems. Students will be required to participate by singing along and learning actions. Their understanding and participation will be evaluated at the end to assess their learning of the five senses material.
I was asked to create a lesson using the ASSURE Method for 1 of 3 different scenarios. I had to elaborate on each letter of the acronym as it was shown in examples during class.

This Assure method is more descriptive and uses more media and materials to incorporate into the classroom while taking each learning style or disability into consideration.
1. Tuesday's ASSURE Method
A- Analyze the Learners: The class consists of 14 students: 7 boys and
7 girls. Nine if the students have been diagnosed with any
exceptionalities. 70% of the students are white, 20% are African
American, and 10% are Hispanic. The average age for students this
age are 6 and 7 years of age. The students have graduated past the
levels of pre-k and kindergarten and are assumed to know the
knowledge taught up until this grade level if not more. They are
expected to be familiar with letter and number recognition as well as
supplies that will be used in the classroom. There are multiple types of
learning styles in the classroom so the teacher will have to adjust
techniques to meet all needs. The students will already have been
introduced to the topic of this unit plan which is the five senses.
S-State objectives: Students in my first grade class will learn the basic
functions and identities of the five senses through videos, podcasts,
and story boards with 95% accuracy. Through interactive learning,
students will participate in learning songs and a poem to help them
memorize and learn the senses.
S- Select Methods, Media, and Materials: The instructor will begin the
class by reviewing with the students and introducing what will be
completed within the class period. The teacher will use a podcast, a
video, and a story board to help them visually see and hear the
explanation of the senses. The teacher will explain all three types of
media through her lecture talk and explanations along side.
U- Utilize Media and Materials: The teacher will utilize the materials by
playing a podcast that has a song recorded on it. The video has a song
acted and sang out by the teacher, and the story board has slides and
text that explain which sense and how we use it in every day life.
R- Require learner participation: The students will be required to
participate by singing along and learning the actions that go along with
the video and songs. The students will recite with the versions of
different media repeatedly which will excite them and encourage their
participation.
E- Evaluation and Revise: Students will be evaluated based on their
participation in the class and the assignments. Based on their
attitudes, their effort, and their memories, Students will be graded.
