This document summarizes the results of recording efforts in churchyards and cemeteries across Sussex in 2016 and plans for further recording in 2017. Over 150 sites were surveyed, with 75 in East Sussex and 81 in West Sussex. The recording focused on identifying indicator species of ancient woodlands and unimproved grasslands. Several churchyards scored highly based on these indicators, including Ebernoe, Coolhurst, and Staplefield. The document discusses best practices for managing churchyards and burial grounds to encourage biodiversity. It also notes some changes observed in species presence since the 1980s and provides guidance for submitting future recording efforts.
