2. BLACK BOX
■ I have chosen to use the ‘black box’ drama room as a main location for filming my
music video.With the correct lighting and staging, the studio gives off a completely
black setting which enables all the attention to be focused on my performer.This
provides my music video with the performance setting as it looks very professional
and simplistic. It will be ideal to use for my performance shots as it has a good amount
of space and with the 3 point light set up it gives off a stage-like feel as well as giving
my performer a spotlight.This location is a good contrast to the outside locations I will
be using which further enhances the divide between the performer and the person.

3. BEACH
■ I have chosen to use the beach as a secondary location for my music video as I feel that
the location represents a sense of freedom and peace.As beaches are very open I think
that using this location for some interesting filler/nostalgic shots of one of my
performers would work really well as the beach represents quite a reflective, nostalgic,
childhood feel. Moreover, the beach contrasts the other locations as it is very open and
natural, not artificial like the black box or comforting and homely like the country
house/garden setting.The beach would also give more variety to my music video as it
wouldn’t be purely filmed in one location and I am using more of a narrative than just
purely performance.

4. COUNTRY HOUSE/GARDEN
■ I have chosen to use the country house/garden as an interesting secondary location
for my music video as I feel that the location represents a sense of childhood and
comfort. As country houses are very cosy and family orientated I think that using this
location for some nostalgic/natural shots of one of my performers would work really
well. Moreover, the country house reflects a more natural environment for people it
will give the video a sense of personal identity (Uses and gratifications) as well as
providing the idea of growing old and outgrowing childhood dreams.The house would
also give more emotional depth to my music video as it wouldn’t be purely filmed in
one location and I am using more of a narrative than just purely performance.
