3. Education- An exciting space
A lot of educational pedagogies, curriculum and processes
have their roots in the industrial revolution era.
Education was geared towards preparing individuals for the
industrial era, being able to memorize, write neatly, maintain
account books.
After 50 years as we are operating in the thick of information
age, our needs have changed. There is a declining value of a
college degree. 40 years back if you went to a good college
and got a degree you would be assured a secure job for the
rest of your life. Not anymore. In China, some estimate that
about 30% of college grads to not get jobs. BTW the situation
is the same in the US, UK and India.
Technology: has brought about a sea change in the way we
produce information and consume information. Classrooms
are being rapidly impacted by that.

exciting space for edupreneurs. Now if you look at India as a
market
4. “The Victorians were great engineers. They
engineered a [schooling] system that was so robust
that it's still with us today, continuously producing
identical people for a machine that no longer exists.”

6. “
Education is increasingly not so much about knowing the
right answers to a set of questions, but more about
continually questioning the answers.
Therefore asking the right questions is the first and most
important step.

8. Changing Expectations from
Preschools
• Prepare children for the competitive World of K-12
• Child Care as nuclear families proliferate and both
parents work long hours
• Cater to the unique learning needs of each child
9. Gurgaon- A unique ecosystem
A Micromarket characterized by
- Rapid Growth of the City
- Government Policies
- A uniquely heterogeneous parent
body
- Opportunity for schools to scale
About Gurgaon –
The city with the third highest per capita income in India
Home to 250 Fortune 500 companies
The population under the age of six is 202,000 and in Delhi it is 2 million.
10. Government Policies
• School Land Allocation - One of the few cities where nursery
school sites have been allocated ahead of time. On the one
hand, it increases the barriers to entry and on the other it
increases the cost of business.
• Preschool Regulation is round the corner – This will impact
because the land allocation has already been done.
11. A Unique Parent Body
• High Disposable Incomes
• Mix of well travelled, highly educated
discerning parents to nouveau riche aspiring
the best for their children
• Education as a commodity to be bought
(might be because of supply demand
imbalance)
• Lack of time/Parents as managers
12. Collaboration in the Preschool fraternity is
extremely important to take advantage of this
rapidly growing and changing segment and
deliver on our responsibility as the first
institution the child is introduced to .
