Problem Statement
>> The International Labor Organization (ILO) estimates that approx. 75 million young people are unemployed
in the world today. Due to financial crisis, there will be less number of new jobs. Freshers has less scope for
work in industry and getting less salary as compared to the work done.
>> According to ILO, 48% of Indian employers face difficulties in filling vacancies.
Work force is unskilled.
Causes of unemployment
>> Industries are not able to assimilate all the new pass-outs from our low standard education system, because
what business professionals want is not taught by the institutes.
>> Indian economy facing problem of financial crisis, which tends toward less investments and resulting into
unavailability of work, number of unemployed youths increasing day by day.

>> Researches conclude that, training schemes can’t increase employment rate
and income level of the unemployed youth.
>> Poor employability of the workforce due to deficit in educational attainment

>> Self employment and home based job is good option of earning. Online jobs like Data Entry, Translation and Freelancing
can provide good earning for less time and smart work.
>> Student business start ups will help in increase of employment as well as foreign money flow will increase significantly.
>> Earning through website, doing projects online, e-learning will indirectly help in skill and experience devolvement as well
as self-employement.

>> A successful businessman can teach students much more than a renowned institute, because our educational system
is lagging in providing practical knowledge, to fill this gap, Institutes have to collaborate with industrial professionals.
>> President of India says "India is a nation of young people. India's demographic dividends can be realized only if the
country invests in developing skills to make our youth employable. Through a planned investment in skill development,
the country holds the potential to account for a fourth of the global work force by 2022, when India will mark 75 years
of its independence”.
>> Employability depends on the knowledge, skills and attitudes possessed by the individual, and also the labor market
information, to enhance skills; youth themselves can come on front, Vocational training courses can be taken by youth for
youths, this will increase in skill development as well as in employment.
>> Women of our country has shown their professional skills and ability of creating employment and revenue earning
through “Women SHG’s (Saving Groups)”. Youth’s should consider this idea as role model for business startups.
>> Business startups may lead in increase of
competition among these small businesses.
>> If students get business training from industry
professionals then wastage of time and money on
training can be saved.
>> If businesses are not controlled by government
then may lead to disruption of business. Local
businesses will have to compete with international
companies doing their business in Indian market.

Business Set-up
>> The students who get degree, the friends can come together and start their own business rather than remain in
search of jobs. This idea I have implemented with myself, and I am successfully handling my business of translation with
10-15 friends and I am getting work from 10-15 well renown companies, so as my success story, any youth can utilize
his skills and can start relevant business.
>> As an example; If four friends are coming together and starting business, then initial business set-up cost can be
contributed by each one. Here, hard work is require to survive and to compete with other companies.
Utilization of Resources
>> Government can take initiative to promote student business start-ups.
>> If person is home maker, or doing online earning, then it is helpful for our economy to get foreign currency flowing
in our economy, So government can provide some resources in less money for the online earners. (like internet and
other services, less fees for bank transfer)
Funding & other factors
>> Export of developed products and earning from other outsourcing countries will be the our main earning sources .
>> Co-operation will help in growth of businesses.

Change in Life
>> Starting business is the smart way of earning and increasing employment.
>> If these business offer good packages to freshers then we can stop ‘Brain Drain’. Our minds will be used in our country
for development of our country. Managing our country of 110 Crore people, only can create many employment
opportunities.
Scalability & Sustainability
>> Food and textile business is always in boom, financial crisis not matters for these businesses.
>> There are 760+ subjects in which students can frame their carrier, so why only go for engineering and medical?
Go for the subject which you like and love to learn.
Control Mechanisms
>> To keep transparency; youth can come together and form committee which will collaborate with government bodies
and will control the business with applied rules and policies.
>> Youths will manage all the business related tasks, although government can recruit youth in army, police services etc.
These special entities will monitor the businesses.

8. Challenges and Mitigation Factors
Skill development has many challenges which include:-
a) Increasing capacity & capability of existing system to ensure equitable access to all.
b) Promoting life long learning, maintaining quality and relevance, according to changing requirement particularly of
emerging knowledge economy.
c) Creating effective convergence between school education, various skill development efforts of government and between
government and Private Sector initiative.
d) Capacity building of institutions for planning, quality assurance and involvement of stake holders.
e) Creating institutional mechanism for research development quality assurance, examinations & certification, affiliations
and accreditation.
f) Increasing participation of stakeholders, mobilizing adequate investment for financing skill development, attaining
sustainability by strengthening physical and intellectual resources.

9. Social Challenges
>> Youths of India are not getting skilled training or education, to fil this gap vocational training courses may help.
Otherwise institutes can invite the professionals for teaching students practically then only student will be able to
explore skills required in industries.
>> The recent policy emphasis on employability rests on the assumption that the economic welfare of individuals and
the competitive advantage of nations have come to depend on the knowledge, skills and enterprise of the workforce.
>> Labor force and work participation rates have fluctuated between 40 to 44 per cent during the last three and half
decades. The share of youth outside labor force increased.
>> Self help groups and micro finance institutes should be encouraged for livelihood promotion.

>> Skilled persons can only be created if the government and companies take initiative to teach unskilled work-force.
>> According to a series of OECD (www.oecd.org) studies (summarized in OECD/ILO 2011, Giving Youth a Better Start),
“high quality career guidance can help youth make better-informed decisions about their future,”
>> Without waiting for the implementation of more ambitious curriculum reform agendas, employers can use their
influence to encourage schools to adopt courses that help young people navigate the job-search process and build key
soft-skills relevant to the workplace.

>> We are the citizens of India, so we have to change the system; we have to start from our self. The student should
build their career by starting with business.
>> One approach, is "enterprise-based youth employment promotion", which will assist young people in setting up
their own businesses.
>> India is in the midst of a process where it faces the window of opportunity created by the demographic dividend.
The demographic dividend?argument ignores the fact that available workers are not automatically absorbed to deliver
high growth.
>> Employers can also cooperate with special programs and initiatives that are designed to give youth a deeper
understanding of overall career trends and opportunities.
