Each player begins the game of chess with 16 pieces: one king, one queen, two rooks, two knights, two bishops, and eight pawns. The objective is to checkmate the opponent's king by placing it under an inescapable threat of capture. A game can also result in a draw or be won by resignation. Each piece type moves differently and can be used to attack and capture the opponent's pieces. The game is divided into three phases: opening, middlegame, and endgame.

. The pawn has two special moves.

8. Knight
The knight moves to any of the
closest squares that are not on
the same rank, file, or diagonal,
thus the move forms an "L"shape: two squares vertically and
one square horizontally, or two
squares horizontally and one
square vertically. The knight is the
only piece that can leap over
other pieces.

The bishop can move any
number of squares
diagonally, but may not
leap over other pieces.

10. Rook
The rook can move any
number of squares along
any rank or file, but may
not leap over other
pieces. Along with the
king, the rook is involved
during the king's castling
move.

11. Queen
The queen combines the
power of the rook and
bishop and can move any
number of squares along
rank, file, or diagonal, but it
may not leap over other
pieces.

12. King
The king moves one
square in any direction.
The king has also a special
move which is called
castling and involves also
moving a rook.

13. Chess games may also be played with a time
control, mostly by club and professional players.

14. MY OPINION
I think it is an interesting
sport to be played in family,
to compete in tournaments
or to play when you are
bored. It is a mental sport
too. This type of sports help
you to train your brain and
that is so good. During 3
years I took part in the chess
club and I don´t like it but I´m
truly bad at it.
