Learning in museum, local craft
The students from I.C. 3 “Don Peppe Diana” visited the National Museum of San Martino in Naples to learn about local crafts. At the museum, they saw the Cuciniello Nativity scene which features over 600 handcrafted figurines and miniature objects. The students then had workshops where they learned about the history and symbolism of figures in the Neapolitan nativity scene from a local artisan. They also learned how to make wicker baskets and model clay into fruits and vegetables as miniatures for the nativity scenes. - 3. We do lots of different creative activities in our wider learning too which make our topics and Literacy interesting and exciting. In Art we learn to draw, paint, explore 3D sculpture, textiles, print and collage. We also learn about a range of different artists. At Cherry Grove we learn about Art, Drama, Music, Dance and Creative Writing.
- 4. Printing by Year 2 children inspired by Van Gogh’s Sunflowers. Early repeat print and pattern by Reception reinforcing Primary colours. Early exploration of texture.
- 5. Mask making Wire/tissue sculpture- endangered wild life 3D/Sculpture- mixed media Card sculpture- exploring Mayan Ceramic tiles- wild flowers Henry Moore sculptures WW2
- 6. • Creative writing based on Midsummer Night’s Dream and the Tempest, opportunities to see and work with Royal Ballet, RSC and entering RA Young Artists’ Summer Show.
- 8. The arts happen in our classrooms and in the shared spaces- small hall and larger assembly hall. We also have shared areas outside of our classrooms on 2 floors and these have sinks in them. Not all of our classes have sinks in them. We have a piano room where children have one to one lessons. We have a corridor where more children are taught to play the piano.
