EDUCATION

DEFINITION
 Character Education is the deliberate effort to develop virtues that
are good for the individual and good for society. The objective
goodness of virtues is based on the fact that they develop morals,
civic duties, ethical reasoning, conflict resolution, manners,
interpersonal relations, and respect of self and others.
IMPORTANCE
 Developing morals
• By developing morals, a person can make the right decision on their
own.
 Civics
• It creates strong communities.
• Emphasizes individual and group participation.
• Teaches children to be good citizens.
 Ethical Reasoning
• Teaches kids to make the right decisions.
IMPORTANCE (CONT.)
 Conflict Resolution
• Teaches to solve problems without violence.
 Manners and Respect
• Teaches children to respect themselves and others.
• Teaches children to be polite.
 Interpersonal Relations
• It forms trust, commitment, and care for others.
• It teaches people to work together.
APPLICATION
 Character Education teaches students right from wrong in the
classroom and in everyday life.
EXAMPLE
 Student A is faced with a dilemma where he has seen Student B
take something from another student’s desk that does not belong to
him. Student A is faced with the moral dilemma of telling on Student
B or keeping it to himself. If Student A tells, he is risking his
friendship with Student B. In this situation, what should Student A
do?
TECHNOLOGY
 Blogging could be used to express your character education
 Watching a YouTube video about how to manage hard situations
when dealing with friends and the difference between right and wrong
