2. Character Education
Definition: Character Education is
teaching children good values to have in
our society. It also includes having good
traits and how to properly treat others in a
respective way.
Characteristics: developing morals, civics,
ethical reasoning, conflict resolution,
manners, interpersonal relations, respect
(self)
3. Character Education
Importance: The importance of character
education is that it teaches kids how to
face difficult decisions in a polite manner.
It allows for a classroom to run smoothly
without chaos. Also parents want their kids
to grow up into well-mannered adults and
to respect others because life does not
always rely on academics.
4. Character Education
Role in 21st century: Character education
has always had an impact on peoples
lives, but in the 21st century it is important
because in order to work in groups in a
classroom or at a job, you must be able to
work with others and see their ideas as
well as yours.
5. Technology
1. Webquest – Students perform acts of kindness (different
levels) to continue.
2. Videos – Kids show their interpretations of manners and
then showing good deeds.
3. Zello – Split class into groups, have each group make their
own station on zello, and each day have a mannerly
conversation.
4. Powerpoint – Split class into groups, each group receive a
character trait (honesty, kindness, etc.), make
presentation and present to class.
5. Blog – Teacher make blog and give examples of people
not using manners, and students comment on it saying
what the person could’ve done different.
6. Promoting Character
Education Using Technology
Facebook/Snipping Tool
Split class into groups (Facebook, Twitter,
Instagram), have them find rude or
offensive comments, take a picture of
them using the snipping tool, show to
class/make poster to put around the
school explaining why it was wrong and
why an individual wouldn’t want it done
to themselves.
7. Conclusion
A classroom will not be successful without
good character education. It is a
necessity in society. Children must learn
this to become well-mannered and polite
adults in order to work with other people
and treat them how they would want to
be treated.
