Grooming includes
proper care of the parts
of the body—HAIR,
FACE, TEETH, MOUTH,
ARMS, FINGERS, NAILS,
LEGS, AND FEET.
Good Grooming- means being neat and suitably dressed. It includes
personal cleanliness, eating the right food, getting enough rest or sleep,
fresh air, sunshine and regular exercise.
DIFFERENT
GROOMING
AIDS
Hair
1.Comb- it is used to arrange
hair.
2.Hairbrush- it is used to remove
dust and dirt and to stimulate
the oil in the scalp.
Oily hair needs shampooing
every other day or more often.
Dry hair must be washed at least
twice a week.
body
1. Bath Soap- It is used to keep the body
clean.
2. Face Towel- It is used to scrub body
parts to remove dirt. Wash your face
towel after use.
3. Bath Towel-it is a rectangular piece of
absorbent cloth that is used to dry the
body.
4. Underarm and Foot deodorant- it is
used to minimize or prevent body
odor from the armpit and feet. It is
usually used after bathing.
Teeth
1. Toothbrush- it is used to clean
the teeth.
2. Toothpaste- it is used to keep
breath fresh and to protect the
teeth from decay. KEEP the
toothpaste tube tightly closed or
covered after every use.
3. Mouthwash-it is gargled to
clean and to freshen breath.
Hands and Feet
1. Nailclipper-it is used
to trim fingernails
and toenails.
2.Nail File - it is used
to smooth and shaping
the ends of the
fingernails.
3.Nail brush- it is used
to brush nails after
cleaning.
1. Wet the entire body.
2. Put a small amount of shampoo on your
hands. Make lather then apply it on your
wet hair and gently massage your scalp.
Leave the shampoo on your hair for a
while.
3. Put some soap on the face towel. Gently
scrub your whole body.
4.Wash off soap from the whole body.
Rinse your hair thoroughly and make sure
no traces of shampoo are left.
5. Dry your body with a clean towel.
6. After drying, apply deodorant if
necessary.
7. Apply baby powder on your body for a
fresher feeling. Wear clean clothes and
underwear.
STEPS
1. Wet hair thoroughly.
2. Apply small amount of shampoo.
3. Massage scalp with fingertips.
4. Rinse thoroughly.
5. Dry hair with a clean and soft towel.
When it is partly dry, gently comb
out the tangles.
6. Brush your hair with light strokes to
make it shiny. Brushing helps
distribute the natural oils of your
hair and keeps it free from dust and
dirt.
Steps
1.Make a good
lather with a mild
soap.
2.Let the lather stay
on your face for a
few minutes.
3.Rinse with
lukewarm water.
4.Finish it with cold
water.
Steps in Proper Brushing
1. Prepare a glass of water. Get your
toothbrush and put toothpaste on it.
2. Brush surface of you front, back, upper,
and lower teeth.
3. Brush the teeth with downward stokes,
and the lower teeth with upper strokes.
4. Gargle thorouhly until no trace of
toothpaste is left inside your mouth.
Smiling attracts people. It is enhanced by sparkling
clean teeth that adds charm to your bright smile.
Visit the dentist every six
months to have your teeth
examined. When cavities
appear, these should be
treated at once to save teeth
from extraction
 To have strong teeth, you must eat
rich in Vitamin C, A, and Calcium.
These helps strenghten you gums
and help prevent cavities.
 Brush your teeth immediately after
meals to keep your breath fresh and
your gums healthy.
 Choose a toothbrush with a head
that is small enough to reach all your
teeth and gum margins. Replace
toothbrush every 3 months.
 EYES- are your sense of sight and most
expressive feature.
 Be sure too have enough light when you read. Never read
in the dark or in a moving vehicle.
Use a clean handkerchief or tissue to wipe your eyes. Never
use a dirty hand or rough towel.
Do not expose your eyes to extreme light. Use an
appropriate pair of sunglasses to protect them.
CARING FOR YOUR EYES
WAYS TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR EYES
Wash your hands with soap and
water BEFORE and AFTER eating.
Do NOT allow your nails to grow
very long and pointed.
Trim your fingernails regularly.
Wash your feet with soap and
lukewarm water everyday to keep
them clean and healthy. Add salt to
the water to make a good footbath
for those feet who perspire a lot.
 Dry your feet well with a soft
cloth and towel.
Keep your toenails clean and short.
Cut your nails straight across to
prevent ingrown nails.
Wear shoes of correct size.
Change your socks everyday.
Apply foot powder/deodorant in
between your toes to prevent fungal
infections and bad odors.
It keeps you healthy and
attractive.
It affects the condition of your
hair, skin, and nails.
It makes your eyes bright and
you complexion rosy, and your
hair shiny and beautiful.
It also helps you to resist
diseases and prevent defective
teeth.
1. You should have sufficient
sleep to restore the energy you
lose during the day.
2. You are more alert and active
if you have enough sleep.
3. You need between nine (9) to
eleven (11) hours of sleep each
night in a well -ventilated room.
Regular bowel movement is important to
maintain our body’s normal functions and
promote health.
PRACTICES THAT HELP REGULATE
BOWEL MOVEMENT
1. Drink at least 8 glasses of water everyday.
2. Eat fruits and vegetables rich in fiber.
3. Have a regular time in going to the comfort
room.
4. Exercise daily.
5. Maintain general good health to avoid
tension.
Doing regular exercise is a
means of maintaining good
health.
It helps build muscles that
develops the body to a
beautiful figure.
It helps remove waste
products from the body.
Walking, running, and
playing are some activities
that you can do.
It is important that you maintain a good posture
while doing your daily activities.
Good posture helps make your organs function
properly.
STANDING
 See to it that you are standing tall.
Chest out and your head, shoulder,
waists, hips, knees, and ankles are in
straight line.
Put you weight on the bases of your
feet, not on your toes or heels.
Your feet should be slightly apart
while your toes should be pointed
forward.
Sitting
Your lower back should
touch the back of the chair.
Remember to sit tall.
Do not slouch.
Sit on a chair that is appropriate
for you.
See to it that your feet are flat on
the floor and your toes pointed
forward.
Walking
Keep your body straight as you
should for standing.
Shoulders should be straight but
relaxed.
Walk naturally and freely.
Keep your feet parallel and close
together with toes pointed forward.
Walk with even steps that are either
too long nor too short.

Chapter 1 building a pleasant personality

  • 2. Lead: Participate actively in the activity that upholds oneself. Be: A child of God that value and takes care their body as a temple of God.
  • 3. “ Do you know that you are God’s temple, and that God’s spirit is within you? If anyone destroys this temple of God, God will destroy him. God’s temple is holy, and you are this temple.” 1 Corinthians 3:16-17

  • 10. Grooming includes proper care of the parts of the body—HAIR, FACE, TEETH, MOUTH, ARMS, FINGERS, NAILS, LEGS, AND FEET. Good Grooming- means being neat and suitably dressed. It includes personal cleanliness, eating the right food, getting enough rest or sleep, fresh air, sunshine and regular exercise.
  • 11. DIFFERENT GROOMING AIDS Hair 1.Comb- it is used to arrange hair. 2.Hairbrush- it is used to remove dust and dirt and to stimulate the oil in the scalp.
  • 12. Oily hair needs shampooing every other day or more often. Dry hair must be washed at least twice a week.
  • 13. body 1. Bath Soap- It is used to keep the body clean. 2. Face Towel- It is used to scrub body parts to remove dirt. Wash your face towel after use. 3. Bath Towel-it is a rectangular piece of absorbent cloth that is used to dry the body. 4. Underarm and Foot deodorant- it is used to minimize or prevent body odor from the armpit and feet. It is usually used after bathing.
  • 14. Teeth 1. Toothbrush- it is used to clean the teeth. 2. Toothpaste- it is used to keep breath fresh and to protect the teeth from decay. KEEP the toothpaste tube tightly closed or covered after every use. 3. Mouthwash-it is gargled to clean and to freshen breath.
  • 15. Hands and Feet 1. Nailclipper-it is used to trim fingernails and toenails. 2.Nail File - it is used to smooth and shaping the ends of the fingernails. 3.Nail brush- it is used to brush nails after cleaning.
  • 16. 1. Wet the entire body. 2. Put a small amount of shampoo on your hands. Make lather then apply it on your wet hair and gently massage your scalp. Leave the shampoo on your hair for a while. 3. Put some soap on the face towel. Gently scrub your whole body.
  • 17. 4.Wash off soap from the whole body. Rinse your hair thoroughly and make sure no traces of shampoo are left. 5. Dry your body with a clean towel. 6. After drying, apply deodorant if necessary. 7. Apply baby powder on your body for a fresher feeling. Wear clean clothes and underwear.
  • 18. STEPS 1. Wet hair thoroughly. 2. Apply small amount of shampoo. 3. Massage scalp with fingertips. 4. Rinse thoroughly. 5. Dry hair with a clean and soft towel. When it is partly dry, gently comb out the tangles. 6. Brush your hair with light strokes to make it shiny. Brushing helps distribute the natural oils of your hair and keeps it free from dust and dirt.
  • 19. Steps 1.Make a good lather with a mild soap. 2.Let the lather stay on your face for a few minutes. 3.Rinse with lukewarm water. 4.Finish it with cold water.
  • 20. Steps in Proper Brushing 1. Prepare a glass of water. Get your toothbrush and put toothpaste on it. 2. Brush surface of you front, back, upper, and lower teeth. 3. Brush the teeth with downward stokes, and the lower teeth with upper strokes. 4. Gargle thorouhly until no trace of toothpaste is left inside your mouth. Smiling attracts people. It is enhanced by sparkling clean teeth that adds charm to your bright smile.
  • 21. Visit the dentist every six months to have your teeth examined. When cavities appear, these should be treated at once to save teeth from extraction  To have strong teeth, you must eat rich in Vitamin C, A, and Calcium. These helps strenghten you gums and help prevent cavities.  Brush your teeth immediately after meals to keep your breath fresh and your gums healthy.  Choose a toothbrush with a head that is small enough to reach all your teeth and gum margins. Replace toothbrush every 3 months.
  • 22.  EYES- are your sense of sight and most expressive feature.  Be sure too have enough light when you read. Never read in the dark or in a moving vehicle. Use a clean handkerchief or tissue to wipe your eyes. Never use a dirty hand or rough towel. Do not expose your eyes to extreme light. Use an appropriate pair of sunglasses to protect them. CARING FOR YOUR EYES WAYS TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR EYES
  • 23. Wash your hands with soap and water BEFORE and AFTER eating. Do NOT allow your nails to grow very long and pointed. Trim your fingernails regularly. Wash your feet with soap and lukewarm water everyday to keep them clean and healthy. Add salt to the water to make a good footbath for those feet who perspire a lot.  Dry your feet well with a soft cloth and towel.
  • 24. Keep your toenails clean and short. Cut your nails straight across to prevent ingrown nails. Wear shoes of correct size. Change your socks everyday. Apply foot powder/deodorant in between your toes to prevent fungal infections and bad odors.
  • 25. It keeps you healthy and attractive. It affects the condition of your hair, skin, and nails. It makes your eyes bright and you complexion rosy, and your hair shiny and beautiful. It also helps you to resist diseases and prevent defective teeth.
  • 26. 1. You should have sufficient sleep to restore the energy you lose during the day. 2. You are more alert and active if you have enough sleep. 3. You need between nine (9) to eleven (11) hours of sleep each night in a well -ventilated room.
  • 27. Regular bowel movement is important to maintain our body’s normal functions and promote health. PRACTICES THAT HELP REGULATE BOWEL MOVEMENT 1. Drink at least 8 glasses of water everyday. 2. Eat fruits and vegetables rich in fiber. 3. Have a regular time in going to the comfort room. 4. Exercise daily. 5. Maintain general good health to avoid tension.
  • 28. Doing regular exercise is a means of maintaining good health. It helps build muscles that develops the body to a beautiful figure. It helps remove waste products from the body. Walking, running, and playing are some activities that you can do.
  • 29. It is important that you maintain a good posture while doing your daily activities. Good posture helps make your organs function properly. STANDING  See to it that you are standing tall. Chest out and your head, shoulder, waists, hips, knees, and ankles are in straight line. Put you weight on the bases of your feet, not on your toes or heels. Your feet should be slightly apart while your toes should be pointed forward.
  • 30. Sitting Your lower back should touch the back of the chair. Remember to sit tall. Do not slouch. Sit on a chair that is appropriate for you. See to it that your feet are flat on the floor and your toes pointed forward.
  • 31. Walking Keep your body straight as you should for standing. Shoulders should be straight but relaxed. Walk naturally and freely. Keep your feet parallel and close together with toes pointed forward. Walk with even steps that are either too long nor too short.
