your learning community

3. Integrating curriculum
4. Retention issues
5. concerned because I feel I'm starting from scratch on the Engl/Read side of things for this new
crossing borders
6. will be a challenge to help students at different levels be successful with the work required for
the history class in crossing borders
7. challenge to create curriculum that meets the course requirements for all 3 subjects in crossing
borders
8. hope that students will sign up and not be intimidated by the course load, and will not plan on
taking other courses outside of the lc
9. Learning styles due cultural differences/Teaching styles that include awareness of diversity
10. Factors that contribute to successful learning community programs.
11. I think we already confronted these challenges last semester and have made some great
changes in order to address them. Scheduling for the students was a big challenge and I believe
our new schedule will work well for them, and allow more fluidity and coordination in the
course materials.
12. I'm anticipating that I/we may try to pack too much into the course and won't leave enough
time for student input into content.
13. I'm concerned that in assessing our learning community our students may have additional
burdens/distractions with the budget crisis that may negatively impact their progress and our
assessment of their learning.
14. Time to plan is always a challenge, and of course new and exciting ways to integrate curriculum.
15. Sorry, I really can't think of anything else. I am looking forward immensely to working with my
colleagues in English & counseling. I just wish I had more time. For example, if I had all the time
in the world, I would like to immerse myself in the English & counseling classes that I am paired
with.
