2. INFINITIVES
Verbs are words that name actions.
The most basic form of a verb is called the infinitive. In English, you
can spot infinitives because they usually have the word ¨to¨ in front
of them: to swim, to read, to write.
IN SPANISH, infinitives don´t have a separate word in front of them.
Spanish infinitives are only one word, and always end in either –AR,
-ER or –IR.
Examples: nadar, escribir, leer
4. NEGATIVES
• To make a sentence negative in Spanish, you usually put the word
NO in front of the verb or expression. In English, you usually use
the word ¨not¨.
• To answer a question negatively in Spanish, you often use no
twice. The first no answers the question, the second one say ¨I do
not…¨. This is similar to the way you answer a question in English.
Example: ¿Te gusta escribir cuentos? – No, no me gusta.
5. NEGATIVES
• In Spanish, you might use one or more negatives after using ¨no¨.
Example: ¿Te gusta cantar? – No, no me gusta nada.
• If you want to say that you don´t like either of the two choices,
use ni…. Ni:
• Example: No me gusta ni nadar ni dibujar.
7. ACTIVIDAD:
!No, no me gusta!
Respond that you don´t like these activities.
8. EXPRESSING AGREEMENT OR DISAGREEMENT
• to agree with what a person likes, you use ¨a mí también¨
Example: -Me gusta pasar tiempo con amigos – A mí también.
• If someone tells you that he or she dislikes something, you can agree by saying
¨a mí tampoco¨. It´s like saying ¨me neither¨or ¨neither do I¨ in Ensligh.
Example: No me gusta nada cantar – A mí tampoco.
