Global warming is caused by human activity such as burning fossil fuels which release carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. This traps heat and gradually warms the planet over time. The greenhouse effect is a natural process that contributes to warming the Earth but human activities like deforestation, use of vehicles, CFC emissions, and industrial development are enhancing the greenhouse effect and accelerating global warming. Natural factors such as volcanoes, water vapor, melting permafrost, and forest fires also impact global temperatures but human activities are the dominant cause of current global warming.
