Home networks allow multiple computers and devices in a home to be connected. Approximately 39 million homes have more than one computer connected through a home network, which can save money and provide conveniences. There are three main types of wired home networks - Ethernet, powerline, and phone line networks. Ethernet networks require cables connecting devices to a central hub, which may require running cables through walls. Phone line networks use existing telephone lines, while powerline networks transmit data through the same power lines that supply electricity. Wireless networks transmit data via radio waves without cables and include Home RF and Wi-Fi networks, but can have interference issues from walls and other devices.
