Home networks allow multiple devices in a home to be connected together to share resources. They provide conveniences while saving money compared to individual devices. Approximately 39 million homes have more than one computer connected together in a home network. There are several options for implementing a home network, including using wired Ethernet cables which require running cables through walls, using existing phone lines, or powerline cables which transmit data through a home's existing electrical wiring. Wireless networks that transmit data via radio waves, such as HomeRF and WiFi, provide a cable-free option but can experience interference from walls and other electronic devices.
