This document summarizes an educational program called "Inventing Europe" that uses Europeana, a digital platform containing over 22 million cultural heritage objects, to teach modern European history. Over the past 14 years, more than 300 researchers from Europe and North America have collaborated on the program across multiple institutions. Students are assigned projects using Europeana to make new connections between textual and visual sources, developing digital and creative skills. An evaluation found that around 50% of students in one course used Europeana to find objects, including from other partners' collections. The program aims to create an interactive digital museum and online community in the future.
