Personal Profile
I have a high degree of personal integrity and honesty with experience
managing a team while under pressure to meet deadlines and respond
effectively to the needs of others
experience of caring and working for people with disabilities goes back over
24 + years and includes working in education and social care. As well as
fostering children with disabilities and challenging behaviour I have cared for
my own child who has cerebral palsy and epilepsy.
I have a full clean driving licence and have a car with business insurance.
In more recent years my passion has been to support individuals on the
Autistic spectrum. I continuously update my knowledge and skills in this area.

Residential manager
I am currently managing a 51 bed home for people with disabilities(physical, learning
and sensory) which still has residents living there who moved in 60 years ago when
it opened. The age range includes older people with associated difficulties this bring
such as dementia on top of their physical disability. I manage a team of 110 staff
which includes care, domestic, kitchen, admin and advocate
For four months I managed a second home within the foundation.
I have set up quality and audit processes as well as carrying out day to day duties
such as rota’s.
I am currently working towards level 5 management as I have already many care
qualifications I wanted to expand my knowledge and understanding of business
processes.
I have supported other managers within the organisation to ensure their
documentation is current and meets legislative standards. My strengths lie in
organisational processes ensuring standards are not only met but exceeded and
enjoy seeing the positive effect this then has for not only residents but staff morale.
I feel I am ready for the next step in my career and would like to work with other
managers in a supportive manner to ensure they are achieving to the best of their
ability.

Manger of short break for children and adults and residential for adults with
disabilities
Managing 30 staff to meet the needs of 20 CQC registered short and long term beds
as well as 10 OFSTED registered beds for short term stays. The service meets the
needs of individuals with a wide range of disabilities.
This includes all day to day tasks to ensure regulations/standards are met as well as
ensure that residents enjoy their short breaks with staff enabling independence skills
to be developed to their full potential.
I am responsible for delivering moving and handling training for all St Cuthbert’s Care
learning disability services.
Manager of autism specific residential home
I was involved with setting up a 6 bedded service for young people aged over 16 who
were either diagnosed with or who had similar traits to those with Autism including
staff recruitment and working with a budget to set up the service.
I continue to deliver training for the charity as well as my role as Autism lead for The
Alan Shear Centre.
Manager of short break residential service for children and adults
As above post but working with children and adults who have a disability. Working
within OFSTED and CSCI minimum standards. Working closely with activity centre
which is located on the same premises. I increased occupancy within first 18 months
70 over 80%. Following the success of short break a residential home was added on
to the registration for individuals who were challenging with 2 of the 3 residents also

4. I have been instrumental in working with Autism Accreditation to gain recognition for
The Alan Shear Centre as their Autism lead. As part of my role with the Autism
Accreditation I have gathered evidence from other services to present to panel as
part of a decision making process for their accreditation
As well as the day to day needs of the service I also deliver autism awareness and
moving and handling training for the charity.
Manager of short break residential service for children with disabilities
Worked closely with contracting authority to ensure children received agreed over
night’s service. Increasing service users. Providing rota’s for approx. 14 staff,
managing a budget effectively (succeeded in making a number of cuts) also carried
out duties as above managers post.
Manager of domiciliary service
As above post with added responsibilities of budget management, recruiting staff and
ensuring outcomes and KPI’s were monitored and improved upon.
Liaising with regulatory service and ensuring staff worked with in minimum standards
Deputy manager of domiciliary service
Assisting the manager with the North East region of the above service. The
geographical area ran from Berwick to Redcar and Cleveland. Role included
supervising staff, organising and facilitating team meetings and training. Attending
meetings as required. Managing the salary and invoicing information. Acting as
manager in the managers absence.

Co-ordinating the project workers in the South Tyneside area of the above project.
Role included supervising staff managing a small budget attending CP conferences,
care team meetings and statutory reviews.
Project worker
Supporting families where there was at least one child who had a disability. This
included a sit in service as well as a community enabling service. Role included
keeping accurate records and managing a caseload of 15 families.

Supporting families and the LA to provide a safe and stimulating environment for
children 0 – 8 some of whom had disabilities or child protection concerns.
1995 -1999 Special Needs Auxiliary
Working in mainstream and special schools with pupils aged 3 to 19 with a variety of
special needs include physical and learning disabilities. A significant number also
had challenging behaviours. I worked on a one to one basis and as class support.

Cook in a primary school ordering, preparing, cooking and serving meals to the whole
school. On a voluntary basis I would also work with the classes providing
experiences to prepare and cook a number of dishes.
