29/07/2009 to-date : Whilst working with ECC Adult Services at Chelmsford, the Isle of Wight
(Glynis Marsh) brought some allegations and wild claims against me at the GSCC for my brief
placement with the Isle of Wight, Children Services. I am a Black man and the White female
manager’s word was taken as the word of God. I was presumed guilty till it would be proven
otherwise. The GSCC placed an Interim Suspension Order (ISO) on my operational licence and
proceeded to investigate the allegations made against me. Finally, on the 05/05/2011 the GSCC
concluded their investigations and I was totally and completely exonerated and re-instated to the
GSCC register of social workers. Compensation claims for loss of earnings concluded in the High
Court in December 2014 after which I took time off to re-charge my batteries to return to work. I
am now fully rested and ready to work. The experience has added to the quality of my future
work and made me stronger as a person and a better professional.

I regularly deputised for the registered manager and acted in his

of the resources of the children’s home by ensuring that the
resident children enjoyed positive therapeutic living and education

2/10/06 – 10/12/06 Senior Practitioner/Acting Manager in a Residential Home Children &
Family Support, Bournemouth Borough Council
I managed the Children’s home, {Milton House}, just less than one month after I started working
there, while the incumbent Manager took his annual leave overseas for four weeks. Other focal
work done on this locum job included:-
Deputising for and supporting the Manager in delivering in residential service that safeguards and
promotes the well being and development potential of young people who cannot live in their
family homes or family environments. This is achieved through working within the National
Minimum Care Standard for Children’s Homes Act.
Supporting and planning the development of the skills and experience of team members through
supervision and training etc.
Ensuring that staffing levels in the home meet CSI requirements and the needs of the young
people.
Development of calming strategies when child/young person displays challenging behaviour that
could upset or harm others, to ensure a positive outcome.
Investigating systems to improve efficiency in the home to meet the needs of the young people.
Due to working with young people who have very complex needs and are constantly challenging
the status quo, there is a need to be creative and innovative almost every day in many different
ways.
Use of procedures to ensure consistency, communication and best practise amongst the staff
team. Systems ensure that young people and staff feel safe and secure in their environment.
Contact with Parents, Staff Team, Reviewing Officers, Teacher/Schools, and Employment
Agencies, Clinical Psychologists, Council Officers, Doctors/Nurses, the Finance Department and
Staff Development Unit.
Liaison with other agencies to assist young people to achieve and move into independent living in
all respects.

Durham University Business School (1983-84) and Completed the Barclays Business
Manager Training Course on Sage 50 in January, 2008. Other higher educational accolades
have been attained and several publications placed on record on national professional
debates and discussions.
Furthermore, I have attended several relevant in-service training and courses culminating
in my acquisition of a huge bank of essential transferable skills, applied knowledge and
experiences beneficial to most positions at the coal face social work or the managing of
same and elsewhere.

young people won me the Award of Community Champion by the Scarman’s Trust, London

Officer provides me with that rare insight and ability and preparedness to engage with and

Mainstay of my Diploma in Psychodynamic counselling training – placement work under the supervision of Philip Hewitt – the Team Manager. 1989 – 1991 Officer in Charge ( Manager ) of the Homeless Youth Hostel Project - London Borough of Waltham Forest Working with young people with learning disabilities and emotional challenges, Motivating disaffected youth back to school/college and other positive engagement, Encouraging apprenticeships, training and smooth transitional movement into independence Court work e.g. Report Writing etc. Inter-agency liaison with various external agencies Organising family meetings to seek the involvement of parents and other family members in the young person’s life, training and education, and turning young lives around for the better. My tenure of office marked an unprecedented period of stability of staff and management turnover. I

Other higher educational accolades have been attained and several publications placed on record on national professional debates and discussions. Furthermore, I have attended several relevant in-service training and courses culminating in my acquisition of a huge bank of essential transferable skills, applied knowledge and experiences beneficial to most positions at the coal face social work or the managing of same and elsewhere. I have considerable experience in managing residential and outreach services and projects in diverse settings.
