1. Barry Stanley-Wilkinson
CORE SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
I have worked for the Care Quality Commission and the predecessor
organisation Commission for Social Care Inspection for over eight years.
Whilst working for the Commission I have worked as a Legal Advisor,
Regulation Manager (Quality and Risk) and a specialist mental health
inspector. In all of my roles I have been responsible for managing projects
and leading teams with a primary focus of improving the lives of people who
use services through effective regulation.
Throughout my time at CQC I have developed my interest in mental health,
learning disability and autism. I have delivered a series of presentations to
external stakeholders such as Royal College of Psychiatry, North East
Consortium for Autism, Rethink Mental Health and also local authorities. My
presentations have included a range of topics such as Regulation of services
who provide care to adults with intellectual disabilities, developing person
centred care and health promotion for people with learning disabilities.
I have continued to update my own professional development through
research and taught study to increase my knowledge and skills within the
fields of Mental Health and Learning Disabilities and/or autism and through
this I have contributed to the improvement of services that have failed to meet
regulatory standards.
My skills are good communication, good people management, good listening
and have a positive personality with a “can do attitude”. I look for solutions to
problems in an innovative manner that keeps people who use services at the
centre focus of improvement. I continually strive to be the very best I can with
a focus on improving the lives of others.
