Over my working career I have needed to develop high level communication
skills, whether this is for customer service, engagement of consumers from a
range of backgrounds to enter a therapeutic relationship, supervising staff or
presenting training sessions.
Similarly, I have highly refined written skills that I have applied to writing case
notes, grant writing and business plans. I am able to develop communication
strategies that are relevant the audience that I am targeting.
In my role as case manager at the Port Augusta Prison and Community
Corrections I was able to develop sound working relationships with people who
had a range of issues. I would work with them to discover their personal goals
and develop an action plan with them. Much of my work was using a range of
intervention techniques to ensure that they achieved the goals that they had set
themselves.
3. The majority of my working life has been working within a team environment,
both remotely or working close by. I pride myself on my abilities to ensure that
the team is working well and to shared goals as well ensuring that problems are
identified quickly and resolved to ensure a positive outcome for all parties.
Travel was a major part of my work load during 2000 to 2009 the area that I was
responsible for was Port Augusta to Northern Territory boarder, the Mid North
including the North east to Cockburn and west to Ceduna.
As a long term resident of Port Augusta, I have established great networks in this
and its surrounding communities, either by way as a well-known small business
person, a sporting member or from my previous working roles in Rural Solutions
(PIRSA) or Committee member with Country Health. Further to this, working as
case manager in both a correctional facility and community has ensured that I
have a good understanding of the resources to vulnerable people.
During the past 10 years of either working my own business or working for a
Government agencies I have worked to maintain budgets and targets. As a
project officer with the Commonwealth Government I was required to keep
accurate financial and statistical records to demonstrate that targets had been
achieved.
I believe given the opportunity I can value add to your organization, with my
broad range of skills and knowledge of our community.
