Walmer Science College, now closed. Part of Castle Community College. No previous staff present.
• Sourced installed and configured new network costing £300k throughout entire
college, which entailed installing and configuring 12 Windows servers and 850
desktops over the six-week summer break. The desktops were configured using
Norton Ghost, allowing multiple auto image installations necessary to meet the six-
week target.
• Successfully added and fully configured a further 15 servers over the next three
years and put all servers onto UPS.
• Reviewed all software licences and set annual budgets accordingly, including
individual and site-wide licences covering servers, security software, Windows OS
and specialist software.
• Project managed the network infrastructure change from co-ax to fibre optic and
the installation and testing of HP switches. The network remains robust and has
100% up time four years on.
• Installed and updated Smoothwall firewall and Websense internet filtering and web
security software across the college.
Jan 2004 – Oct 2004 Dover Grammar School for Boys ICT Systems Technician
• Appointed to oversee the day-to-day running of the school’s RM Connect 2.4 and
Community Connect 3 network.
• Created a native 2K network to allow the school to change from RM and Windows to
Linux. Subsequently left following the successful completion of this task, returning
to a Windows environment

• Taught ICT and electronics under the supervision of a qualified teacher. Courses

• Carried out all necessary network maintenance and set and administered spares
budgets.
• Assembled circuit boards and created faults for students to identify as part of the
learning process. Students were required to investigate these faults in order to
identify and subsequently rectify them.

• Set up packaging plant and subsequently improved and upgraded it continually.
• Designed and constructed a packaging machine for filling bags with components.
This involved studying the process then designing the machine digitally, producing
manufacturing drawings and then manufacturing, assembling and testing the
machine. It was then successfully commissioned.

designing and manufacturing an additional component to increase sensitivity.
