CarbonFree is a chrome extension that provides carbon scores for different modes of transportation for a trip. It aims to help environmentally conscious travelers choose the lowest carbon option. Based on user testing, people found the information on carbon scores to be useful but were less interested in using a chrome extension. They wanted a more interactive mobile app. One user said they would be more likely to change their travel habits with a convenient mobile option. The creators learned that speaking directly to users helped them understand what would make the product more useful and accessible.

6. Results and Hypothesis
While driving to all of his daily routine is fastest, John has decided to be more
environmentally friendly after using CarbonFree. He has decided to continue to
drive the kids to school and practice since there is a lack of public transportation
where he lives, however then take public transport to and from work.
● Overall, good response to CarbonFree and the information it gives
● Mobile application could lead to more use
● People do want to be more conscious of their carbon footprint
● Downside: not much use for the application with COVID-19

7. Lessons Learned
● Mobile Application vs Chrome Extension: For quick information for day-to-day
use, people do not want a chrome extension
○ Tester stated they thought it was annoying that they had to go into Chrome to use CarbonFree
● The difference between developers and users: It is essential to speak with
users to facilitate
