This usability test report documents includes test of the Field Form web App http://www.csl.mtu.edu/classes/cs4760/www/projects/s15/group6/www/hci/. The test was carried out in Apr.14 to 16th 2015 by Team Justice League. It adapted paper-based USDA agriculture field condition criteria and evaluation method by using Field Form website. Local farmers can upload weekly report of weather observation, assessment of crop condition as well as GPS location. Such field data collection across 3000 counties in U.S. will have incredible values for stakeholders.

SYST15892 - Interactive User Interface Design
Phase IV Usability Testing
Grade weight: 15%
Requirements
Based on your initial Storyboard / Wireframes develop an interactive
prototype with invisionapp to carry out a series of tasks to be tested with
live users. The tasks should include TWO common tasks and at least ONE
advanced task. Registering / logging in to the website / service are
considered common tasks.
You will need to conduct the usability testing on a minimum of FIVE
individuals and use the "Think Aloud" method to capture their thoughts,
actions and interaction with the prototype. During the test one group
member should be a note taker to record what the user is doing and saying
during the testing.
Note: DO NOT explain, prompt or help the user during the testing. This will
taint your results and not give you real feedback on the interface /
interaction.
Prepare a small survey with a 5-point Likert scale and open-ended
questions. Compile all the results into a report as part of your submission.
SYST15892 - Interactive User Interface Design

Negative).
c. A statement on what the group thought went well and tasks/
actions from the user feedback that surprised the group, tasks
that took longer than expected, errors or confusion from the
user.

Book Formatting: Quality Control Checks for DesignersConfidence Ago
This presentation was made to help designers who work in publishing houses or format books for printing ensure quality.
Quality control is vital to every industry. This is why every department in a company need create a method they use in ensuring quality. This, perhaps, will not only improve the quality of products and bring errors to the barest minimum, but take it to a near perfect finish.
It is beyond a moot point that a good book will somewhat be judged by its cover, but the content of the book remains king. No matter how beautiful the cover, if the quality of writing or presentation is off, that will be a reason for readers not to come back to the book or recommend it.
So, this presentation points designers to some important things that may be missed by an editor that they could eventually discover and call the attention of the editor.

Usability Test Event
Summary
A usability test was
completed to gain feedback
and knowledge of a user’s
ability to complete a task
using the app prototype.
During the usability test,
participants were given a
task scenario and asked to
complete a set of tasks.
Usability Test Plan
01 Introduction/Summary
6. 6|
Methods
The task scenario included
the situation of being on a
road trip late at night with a
group of friends where
suddenly they encounter a tire
blow out. Since the user nor
any of their friends knew how
to change a tire, the tasks
were to open up the Nissan
car manual app and from the
home page find the “changing
tire” section.
Tasks & Scenarios
The testing environment was located
at TTU usability lab. Equipment used
included eye tracking devices that
monitored the participants activity as
they navigated the app. The Lookback
app was used to record the
participant's reaction and thought
process.

Usability Test
The test sessions were recorded using the
LookBack app and analyzed from feedback
given by the users to help improve certain
areas.
According to Jakob Nielsen, five participants
are needed to ensure accuracy of results.
However, due to time constraints of the
project, we only tested three participants.

Methods
Context of Test
We completed our usability testing on Thursday,
October 20, 2016. The participants used for our
research were chosen randomly.
Before the test session, each participants
completed a pre-survey about their demographic
and what they would like from their car manuals.
We had a total of 3 participants, 2 males and 1
female, which were between the ages of 16-35.
Each participant session
lasted about 5 minutes. The
facilitator explained the task
scenario and asked each
participant to complete a
given task using the app
using think-aloud protocol.
At the end of each session,
each participant completed a
series post-test questions
about their user experience
with the app including what
they liked about the app and
what could be improved in
the design and function.
Participants

Testing Event:
Results and Findings
● 100% of the participants said that the app
was useful.
● 100% of the participants said that they
believed that the app would be useful if they
had an actual flat tire.
● 100% of the participants said that is was
better than actually using their car manual.
● 100% of the participants said they would
recommend it to a friend.
● 66.7% of the participants felt that the app
would be better if it had more pictures.
● 33.3% of the participants felt that a video
option would be a nice feature to add.
● 66.7% of the participants said that the app
was great.
04 Results and Findings
10. 10|
User Feedback
Improve User Interaction
Perhaps the most common recommendation to the
improvement of our app was to make the app more
interesting and engaging
Add Images
There were a few instructions which had no picture to indicate
which part of the tire was being worked on.
Instructions Not Clear
Sometimes, pictures did not adequately demonstrate how to
perform a certain task so instead it would be more helpful to
include a video
Text Too Small, Background Color Good
Larger text should also help make the app more readable. The
light gray background with black text makes the app easy to
read.
04 Results and Findings

Recommendations/Conclusion
Our usability research and testing demonstrates that car owners prefer a
mobile app car manual over the traditional print manual. Such an app for
the car owner manual could also be integrated into car navigation
systems. This app would also be useful for car owners or rental
companies that own vehicles where the print owner manual is missing.
Our next steps are to make final revisions based on user feedback, re-test
with a second group of participants. Final recommendations to the client
will be made after secondary revisions and testing.
