Alicia, thanks for inviting me for supper tonight! It was absolutely savory!
It was my pleasure. I’m glad you could finally try a traditional dish from my
country.
Have you been cooking for a long time?
Yes, I have been cooking since the age of 12. I learned a lot from my mother.
Very nice. I bet you learned a lot of cooking techniques from her.
I wish I could cook. The only thing I can cook is poutine, and it’s so unhealthy!
I sure did. For one thing, she taught me about how to use spices properly.
Johanna, I’m sure you are not that bad; however, maybe I can help you.
How is that?
I know I can teach you how to cook some really nutritious meals.

I would love that! When can we start?
Let’s get together next Saturday night.
Ok, why don’t we meet at my house? I will pick up any ingredients or spices
that we need.
Not really. I can’t bake either.
That sounds good. Now, do you have anything in mind for dessert?
Don’t worry about that. I will bring a dessert for us. See you next week!
Ok, that sounds good, Johanna. What time should I be at your house?
I think around 5:00 should work.
See you then!
Let’s learn about some common
Canadian foods!

It was my pleasure. I’m glad you could finally try a traditional dish from my country.
  • 28. Listen to a dialogue: Johanna Alicia Johanna Alicia Johanna Alicia Johanna Alicia Johanna I would love that! When can we start? Let’s get together next Saturday night. Ok, why don’t we meet at my house? I will pick up any ingredients or spices that we need. Not really. I can’t bake either. That sounds good. Now, do you have anything in mind for dessert? Don’t worry about that. I will bring a dessert for us. See you next week! Ok, that sounds good, Johanna. What time should I be at your house? I think around 5:00 should work. See you then!
