Objectives of this workshop
• Practice the skills you will need in your role
• Get to know your fellow course reps
• Develop some methods for the passage of information
Icebreaker- Two truths and a lie
• Work with the person next to you
• Tell them two truths and a lie
• Guess which one is correct
Example
1. My favourite meal is afternoon tea
2. I am terrified of being in water
3. I have a dog called Susan
Spot the Lie
1. I spent $800 dollars in two weeks on Apple music.
2. I once set my hair on fire.
3. I ate two rows of chocolate bars from a vending machine.
Icebreaker- Two truths and a lie
• Work with the person next to you
• Tell them two truths and a lie
• Guess which one is correct
Skills
Task- Make a hat/boat
• Get into teams of 4-5 with a mix of year groups in
• You have 15 minutes for everyone in your team to have a boat
Let’s reflect….
1. What information did you need?
2. What skills did you use to achieve the task?
3. How effective were you in getting/relaying that information?
4. Did you come up with any novel approaches to the task?
5. What would you do differently next time?

  1. Why did we do that ice breaker? Immediately you have started to develop an interpersonal relationship with the person next to you. You thought on the spot and made yourself more personable.
