Overhead Shot
Camera is positions above the character
action or object.
Used to: Something is falling, someone is
watching, something is going to happen.
Allow audience to see whether character
is isolated.

Reaction Shot:
Show the reaction of a character to
another character or an event.

Editing
Freeze frame:
Effect of seemingly stopping the movie
in order to focus on in on an element.

Eye Match:
Cuts from one character to what they
are looking at.

Cross Cutting:
Interweaving one narrative action to
another.
Used to: show parallel actions and to
compare two scenes.
Shot Reverse Shot:
Switch back and forth between two
characters interacting with each other.

Camera Movement
Pan: camera moves from left to right to
establish a scene.
Zoom: Camera getting closer to the
subject/ object or further away.
Crane: camera moves above ground
level, rises or descends.

Track: Camera follows the subject/
object. Moves on the ground forward,
backwards or side to side.
Fixed frame: character moves towards
the fixed frame or many people can pass
by from one side to the other side of the
frame.
Hand-held: a bumpy image makes the
work look authentic.
