The camel is a large mammal that lives in the hot desert climates of North Africa, the Middle East, and Australia. Camels can grow up to 11 feet tall and weigh over 1,500 pounds. They have thick fur to protect them from the sun and small ears to prevent sand from entering. Camels eat tough desert plants and can go weeks without drinking water by storing water in their humps. They are well-adapted to survive in arid environments.

2. Physical Features/Description Head , neck and body will grow to 11 feet tall. weigh up to 1,520 pounds. The smooth coat is beige to light brown short coarse hair. Undersides slightly lighter in color. Ears are small to make it harder for sand to get them.

4. Diet/Behavior eat grass and rarely eats carrion. Will feed on any vegation they can find. Large , tough lips enable them to pick at dry plants. Its has been shown that camels on a completely dry diet can go several weeks without drinking. come out at night when it cooler.

5. Interesting Facts Can drink 30 gallons of water in only 13 minutes eat grass and rarely eats carrion can breed at 5 years old During the summer a camel excretes less urine and doesn’t sweat much to save water Baby camels have soft fur, no humps
