The letters to the seven churches in Revelation provide commendations, rebukes, and exhortations to each church along with promises from Christ. Specifically, Christ commends five of the churches for their hard work, perseverance, holding fast to their faith, and hating wicked practices. He rebukes three churches for losing their first love, tolerating false teachings, and being lukewarm. Christ exhorts all the churches to remember, repent of wrongdoings, remain faithful, and hold firmly to what they have received. He promises the faithful protection, rewards like eating from the tree of life, authority over nations, and being pillars in His temple.
