Mother’s Day 2019
A message for Mothers From God
The hand that rocks the cradle rules the world
Jewish proverb: God could not be everywhere so he made mothers
At the end of this short message, most of you will be able to answer these questions:
1. Who is the greatest mother in the world?
2. What are the three traits we see in God that are also in mothers?
3. What happens when we fail to honor our mothers?
______________________
Today we honor mothers and women in general.
Today we are also going to honor God. These two goals go together very nicely.
As I talked to God about this message and listened, I felt that He said the following
things to me to share with you. This is the most extensive response I have received
from God since beginning to practice what the book Listening Prayer by Mary Geegh
describes. We have copies for sale for $5. If you would read it and practice that she
says, ti could be one of the most revolutionary things you can do to hear God’s voice.
God said:
“I love mothers very much. They express my character to others, especially to their
children, in ways that men generally do not.
I have given mothers the ability:
to love their children with a sacrificial level of tenderness and persistence that
reflects my love for all people
to suffer for their children, starting with pregnancy and birth. This also describes
the kind of love I have for all people.
to identify with their children in ways that men cannot.
This bond starts in the physical connection between a mother and a child in
the womb.
The very breath of the child and every nutrient the child receives comes from
the body of the mother to the child moment-by-moment throughout the entire
pregnancy.
The mother’s lungs transfer oxygen to the child’s lungs. The mother’s
stomach transfers nutrients to the child’s stomach. The mother’s emotions
are experienced to some degree by the child in her womb. The child’s
understanding of himself and of reality starts in the womb and immediately
afterward in the physical connections with its mother. The child would not
even exist without those months of physical connection with its mother
Those second-by-second physical connections that gave life to the child from the
mother exactly parallels the moment-by-moment life I give to every human being. I
am a Father with a mother‘s heart. I create and I nurture. I protect and provide with a
deep love and tenderness that no human can fully understand
God the Holy Spirit expresses this kind of motherly love as He lives inside each of my
children every day. He watches over them with prayers too deep for words. He teaches
and guides them moment by moment— if they’re willing to listen. He comforts them in
all of their affliction. He nourishes them by revealing the truth of the scriptures to them
I am willing to suffer for the sake of everyone I have created, even though they do
not know Me nor love Me in return. My Son, Jesus, has demonstrated this kind of
suffering love for all humanity by loving people who rejected Him and and then dying a
cruel death to save his enemies.
In order for people to understand my love as God for them, I have put some of that
nurturing, sacrificial and suffering love in women who become mothers. Most
women have this capacity—and it is something to be marveled at.
The love of a mother for her child is one of the clearest demonstrations of my tender,
motherly love for all humanity, especially for those who have become my adopted
children through faith in my Son, Jesus.
For this reason, I have commanded all mankind to honor not only their fathers but also
their mothers. If people will honor their father and mother, I will bless them with a
long and good life. If they do not honor their father and mother, they will lose some of
those blessings. This is clearly stated in Ephesians 6:1-3
My Son, Jesus, honored his mother by taking care of her when his stepfather, Joseph,
died. At the end of his life, while He hung on the cross, Jesus again made provision for
his mother by giving her to John to take care of as he would his own mother.
In doing this, He was not saying that Mary is any more important than any other mother
or woman. Jesus was simply demonstrating his love and honor for his mother. This is
what I require of every person.”
Practical Ways to Honor Mothers
So here are some practical ways to honor your mothers—not only today on Mother’s
Day but throughout our lives, even after our mothers have died and gone to heaven
Communicate often with them.
Communicate tenderly with him with many expressions of gratitude
Be alert and anticipate their needs. They willing to sacrifice to meet those needs
God went on to say:
“Always speak well of your mother even if she has been disobedient to the word or
damaged by life‘s experiences. Whatever you say of her, even if the truth is unflattering,
must be said with love and forgiveness.
Thank Me often for your mother. She has been assigned to you by Me. Be grateful for
the mother you have even if she has been abusive or neglectful. Anything bad that has
happened to you because of your mother I can turn into good if you will obey Me and
forgive her and bless her, in spite of the hurts.
If you have been hurt by your mother and you cannot establish the kind of relationship
with her that you want on earth, remember that you get a fresh start with her in
heaven. There, the two of you will be able to love each other far beyond your wildest
imagination.
Do not idolize your mother if you have had a good mother. Love her and care for her
but remember that the goodness that she has shared with you came from Me. Honor
and love Me more than you love your mother or anyone else. I require this of all people.
If you do these things, you will do well. If you honor your mother well, I will feel honored.
If you do not honor your mother well, I will be disappointed in you.
So don’t forget that I love mothers greatly because they express my tender, motherly
heart for all humanity better than most men can. When you honor your mother, you are
honoring Me who has given her to you as your mother. You are honoring My choice of
your mother for you.
I bless you today as you honor your mother!
With much love, Your heavenly Father who has a father’s and a mother’s love for
everyone He has created.”
