San Diego Beaches In Florida
San Diego is a city in California that has about 17 miles of coastline, which offers a variety of beaches
( San Diego Beaches ). Pacific Ocean is the ocean that borders coast in California. Three major rock
formations can be found in the North County beaches in San Diego, which are Bay Point Formation,
the Torrey Sandstone, and Del Mar Formation. Bay Point Formation is about 100,000 years old, which
is also the youngest rock formation, and it has a higher possibility for erosion to occur (Metzler). The
Torrey Sandstone is about 46 million years old, it has a lighter color than Bay Point Formation, and it
is hard enough to provide protection for the softer Bay Point Formation (Metzler). Del Mar Formation
is slightly older than the Torrey Sand ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The main reason for the difference is that the two places are at different sides , one in the east, the
other in the west, and because of this difference, the weather at these places can also have a big effect
on the beaches. Erosion is a process that occurs at both the beaches in San Diego and Northeast
Florida. The only difference between the two is that in San Diego, the erosion occurs on the bluffs,
while in Florida, it occurs on the dunes. Both the natural and human activities cause erosion to occur
at both places. The activities include the weather, such as the storms can wash away the sand, which
will eventually cause erosion to occur, and human building structures near the shorelines can allow
erosion to happen. Although erosion is still occurring at the shorelines, people have tried to do some
activities that can help reduce or slow the bluff and dunes erosion at both places. In San Diego, people
have built sea walls and placed riprap along the shorelines to help prevent erosion. Sea walls are
usually made up of boulders, steels, and concrete and they are more expensive to build than the riprap
(Metzler). Riprap is placed on the sand along to the shorelines of the beach, it is usually made up of
rocks, and it is less expensive than building sea walls (Metzler). The purpose of both the sea walls and
riprap is to help protect the bluffs

To be a Socially responsible person takes a lot for someone to trust you and for you to receive that

Shark Attacks
Someone at the beach is swimming out in the deeper water, and all of a sudden, a dorsal fin pops out.
For everyone on the beach who sees it, music from Jaws starts playing in their heads. The swimmer
does not even notice it, and in a few seconds, a great white shark veraciously attacks him. This is what
comes to mind when most people think of sharks, but they are not really just man eating monsters of
the sea. Sharks are a fascinating group of fishes that strike fear into the minds of humans, but they are
nothing to be afraid of. There are over 475 different species of sharks, but only a few of these are
considered to be dangerous to people. These include Great White Sharks, Tiger Sharks, and Bull
Sharks. Most species of sharks do ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Ethics And Ethics Of Ethics Essay
In this essay, I will consider several popular theories discussed by well known philosophers that will
help me decide ethical dilemma. The situation is that one of my coworker has been using work place
resource to run personal side business. She tells me a convincing story of personal adversity and
struggling to get ahead, and ask to meet next day to talk about. About the same time, I receive and
email reminding all employees that the work place ethics code forbids using work place resources for
personal financial profit. To make ethically right decision in this ethical dilemma, I will focus on the
philosophers standpoint and reasoning of ethics of care, ethics of justice, utilitarian ethics and
universal principle to analyze the situation. In this tough situation, my conclusion is that I will not
report this action to the higher authority although she is violating work place ethics code. I will
provide my reasoning why I will not report this to the higher authority in this essay.
Before I make any decision and report this to higher authority, I will use ethics tests to construct an
effective decision. There are steps on making ethical decisions. First, the viral test, what happens if I
report this? Would this make a headline news? Would this news negatively impact the reputation of
the company? Even though her action is obliviously violating professional ethics, it is important to
consider some what ifs before jumping to the conclusion. If this make it to the news, I

Victory Spirit
William Safire and James Wood are two different people, with different ideas, different views, but do
have similar writing styles. In William Safire s A Spirit Reborn he talks about the Gettysburg Address
in comparison to 9/11 and he also analyzes the Gettysburg Address in more depth and has a specific
purpose for writing his article. On the other hand in James Wood s Victory Speech he talks about how
President Obama flowed through different things, Wood also analyzes certain details of Obama s
speech, and offers some critique.
Now, as then, a national spirit rose from the ashes of destruction (Safire 41). The Gettysburg Address
was given after a horrible incident, with very tragic losses. By going through these destructive events,

He mentions some specific quotes such as The nation was conceived in liberty ... delivered into life by
our fathers (Safire 42). He also brings up death and re birth by pulling more quotes from Lincoln s
memorable speech.
Safire does not want us to listen to only Lincoln s famous words and comforting cadences (43).
Instead he wants us to remember the message Lincoln was giving to us, he wants us to appreciate the
deceased and the missing, and wants to remind us that this generation s response to the deaths of
thousands of our people leads to a new birth of freedom (Safire 43).
First he moved through the people... Then he moved through the country... then he moved through
time (Wood 611). The purpose Wood says for Obama doing this; was to bind those wounds by binding
us together (611). By bringing people from different ages, orientation and gender, from different states
and cities, Obama hopes to bring our nation back together as one nation. He also mentions how Ann
Nixon Cooper, who is one hundred and six years old, had voted using just a finger, to show how the
times have changed.
Wood analyzes some details of Obama s speech, such as how Yes we can changed to Yes we did and
Yes we may . Noticing the impact those few words had on the crowd by saying it was extraordinarily
moving in its sobriety (Wood 611). Wood also mentions how he added it to past tense, using a note of
being uncertain. He also draws attention to Obama s use of the

Columbine Film Techniques
Michael Moore is an American documentary filmmaker, who is best known for his line of
controversial documentaries exploring and addressing political and social issues in the US. Moore has
a number of films, including 9/11: Fahrenheit, Sicko and Roger and Me for example. In particular, he
has produced and directed Bowling for Columbine which I will be close viewing for my 3.9 report.
During this film he raises and explores the issue of gun violence in the United States and uses a
variety of techniques to showcase his thinking. In the two excerpts Columbine and Fear of Black Men
, I will be discussing how he uses archival footage (stock footage) and nondiegetic sound to help to
steer his audience into thinking a certain way or to make them feel connected while watching.
Excerpt one Columbine
In my first excerpt Columbine , Michael Moore made sure to keep his audience on edge and feel like
they were in the shoes of those students as they were watching the CCTV footage of the massacre that
happened at Columbine High School, April 20th of 1999. In this excerpt, he uses two effective film

Cultural Differences Of Marriage During The Colonial Times
For the Colonial families, marriage was a practical arrangement that was considered necessary for
civilization, not a source of love and affection (Cohen, 2015). In comparison to the families in today s
times, people are waiting longer to get married. Today s families are based on love and affection, and
if the love spirits perish, so does the marriage. People in today s times, not too many marriages are
arranged and if they are its cultural related reasons. Marriage should be based on your love and respect
you have for the other person, without that, I don t understand how living with someone and raising a
family would ever last, especially in today s world.
Another difference that I see is that women were basically used as property. They

Essay on Quebec Nationalism
The question of whether Quebec will secede from Canada to become an independent nation has been a
hot topic in the country for several years now. It dates back to the abortive rebellions of 1837 38. In
1980, a referendum to secede was rejected by a 60 40 margin. Since then though, the numbers of
Quebeckers that want to become sovereign has significantly increased. There is so many questions of
what will happen if this does happen. In this paper I plan to take a deeper look at this situation and try
to figure out what it would actually be like if Quebec was its own country.
The premier of Quebec, Lucien Bouchard has been attempting to separate from Canada for quite
sometime. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They take part in just about all international organizations in existence. Don t get me wrong, there are
also many problems within the Country. For instance the rocky relationship between the majority and
the indigenous people. There is also a great differential of wealth between regions, and inequalities in
personal incomes. Despite all of this, many feel that this is not the reason for Quebec secession.
Quebec has 24 percent of the total population of Canada, and 25 percent of its Gross National Product.
The majority of Quebec s population is of French descent and language. It reaches approximately 83
percent of the entire province. About 60 percent of the French voted for secession in the 1995
referendum, at a remarkably high turn out, 94 percent of the total electorate.
It is noteworthy that of those francophone Quebeckers favoring federalism were the older group over
50 years of age. However, in the younger age group pro secessionists had the majority. The
anglophones, allophones, and the indigenous people were all strongly against secession. The premier
of Quebec Lucien Bouchard has in fact stated that there will be another referendum. Although under
Quebec Law this cannot take place until another provincial election has been held. However, the
Government is now more concerned with rebounding Quebec s struggling economy which has
struggled as a result of the political

How could the Holocaust have beet prevented
COULD THE HOLOCAUST HAVE BEEN PREVENTED?
You have probably heard about a period of time, not so long ago, known as The Holocaust. A
holocaust, according to Webster s dictionary, is a complete destruction by fire (Stadtler, 1). In Europe,
during this period, there was a complete destruction by fire of Jewish homes, Jewish businesses,
Jewish neighborhoods, and Jewish people. This destruction was carried out under the direction of
Adolf Hitler, during the years 1939 1945, but it actually began earlier, in 1933, when Hitler came to
power in Germany.
In my opinion, the Holocaust, which was caused by ignorance, could very well have been prevented.
There were many powerful nations, such as the United Stated, the USSR, and Britain, whose ... Show

With Germans of all outlooks desperately seeking solutions for the nation s problems, Adolf Hitler and
the Nazi Party began their climb to power. Hitler was gifted with effective political talents. He offered
an explanation for Germany s defeat, and a vision of Germany s future destiny, that played upon the
fears, prejudices, and hopes of many Germans. He promised to rebuild Germany s power and restore
its prosperity (Isaacman, 16). This won the support of many Germans. Hitler was such an effective
speaker that anything he said was believed even if it was not true.
Hitler believed that the German people were part of an Aryan race, a superior group that should be
kept pure to fulfill their mission of ruling the world. He felt that the Jewish people were sub human,
when in actuality they were virtually the same as his Aryan race. Not only did Hitler have a personal
hatred toward the Jewish people, but he also blamed them for stabbing Germany in the back after
Germany s defeat in World War I. Hitler used them as scapegoats because they were a minority and
were easy to put the blame on. Historians agree that the Holocaust resulted from a confluence of
various factors in a complex historical situation. That anti Semitism festered throughout the centuries
in European culture is centrally important; the Jews were (and are) a minority civilization in a
majority environment. In periods of crisis, instead of searching for the solution of

The Environmental Effects Of Plastic Shopping Bags
Originally patented in 1965, the single use plastic shopping bag has since become ubiquitous in
America and around the world. Plastic bags were first introduced in grocery stores in 1977, and by the
early 2000s they constituted 80% of the market for shopping bags (Laskow). These bags caught on
because they were stronger, lighter, waterproof, and many people found them easier to carry than
paper. Most importantly though, they were cheaper, meaning retail stores had strong incentives to
make them available to customers and promote their use (Petru). In other words, plastic bags became
popular, and remain so today, because they are convenient. However, this convenience does not take
into account the environmental effects associated with their production, distribution, and disposal.
Once these aspects of their use are considered, it is clear that the convenience of plastic shopping bags
do not justify the harms to the ecosystem caused by their existence.
Plastic bags are usually made out of high density polyethylene (HDPE), a strong, durable plastic made
from ethylene monomers (Clark). 134 million metric tons of ethylene are produced each year as of
2014, with 28% of that production going towards the manufacture of HDPE (Lazonby, Ethene ).
Ethylene is produced from oil and natural gas, and in the process has significant environmental
consequences. According to a 2013 study by Ghanta, Fahey, and Subramaniam published in the
journal Applied Petrochemical Research, For ethylene produced from naphtha and ethane [the two
main sources of ethylene], the energy expended during the extraction and ocean based transportation
of fossil fuel sources (crude oil and natural gas) contributes significantly to adverse environmental
impacts such as GHG [greenhouse gas] emissions, acidification, and eco toxicity. To make ethylene,
fossil fuels must be extracted, transported, and processed (Lazonby, Ethene ). Then the ethylene must
be processed to make HDPE (Lazonby, Poly(Ethene) ). HDPE, in the form of plastic pellets, is then
transported to the plastic bag manufacturer. The manufacturing process of Novolex, a maker of plastic
packaging products that sells bags under the brand name Hilex Poly ( Company Overview ), is
described

The Magic Lantern Was Used In The Early Age Of Animation
There were many devices that were used in the early age of animation. One of them was the magic
lantern. The magic lantern was the first device to be made in the early age of animation. It was created
in the 1600 s by Athanasius Kircher. It projected images onto a wall. The magic lantern that
Athanasius Kircher created was a small box. A hole was cut into a side and a light source was placed
inside the box such as a candle. There was a curved mirror behind the light source, and in front of the
light source was a lens. The mirror reflects the light from the light source and it goes through the lens
and out of the hole in the box. If a glass slide with an image was placed in front of the hole in the box,
the image would reflect onto the wall.

What Does Yada Mean
The biblical concept comes from the use of the word Yada , which means to know. I personally really
enjoy that word or better yet, the loftiness in the way the hebrews used words. I said to myself
sometime today before I viewed the lecture that the term love has become almost dead in my
vocabulary. Our culture has abused it.
Anyway, Yada means to know, but in their culture, you don t truly know someone unless you have a a
very personal and intimate relationship. A close, warm, passionate intimacy was was a must or you
didn t know someone. Relating this concept, our knowing God, to divine revelation.
Through God s love profoundly expressed through Jesus s coming, living, and dying for us on the

The reasons that British Columbia was not a land of opportunity were the physical landscape of BC
was inhospitable for migrants, the weather in BC was terrible, and the gold source was depleting due

the gold rush many people arrived in BC, but when the gold source started to deplete, many migrants
soon found out BC was not a land of opportunity. First, the reason that made BC not a land of

Special Prison Populations
Corrections are an important part of the criminal justice system and they work in concert with law
enforcement and the courts. Citizens in the United States expect criminals to be monitored, with some
in secured facilities, so they will not fear of becoming continual victim of crime. To illustrate this
expectation further, there are 2.5 million individuals on probation or parole and 1 million individuals
in jails or prisons (Morris Tonry, 2013, p. 370). However, does every individual confined in jails and
prisons still need to be there or is there a better way to deal with certain special prison populations?
Due to the large number of prisoners within the correctional system, certain special populations of
inmates do not receive the rehabilitation or care needed to successfully reintegrate back into society.
Additionally, these special populations create an undue burden on the correctional system in terms of
financial costs associated with their confinement. There are changes that can be made to the criminal
justice system to accommodate special populations of inmates. This paper will explore the alternative

A Study of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act
FOREIGN INTELLIGENCE SURVILLANCE ACT This act was created in 1978. It proposes
methods for gaining judicial permission in order to carry out physical and technological search for a
person, who might be a terrorist threat for USA, on behalf of a foreign power. In 1970, a man named
Christopher H. Pyle discovered that the US army intelligence had hired 1500 officers whose job was
to spy on protest or public demonstration that involved more than 20 people. This shocking news
immediately captured the attention of Senator Sam Ervin, who was the chairman of a sub committee
of senate related to constitutional rights. Though Sam Ervin strongly condemned this act of US
intelligence but he had very little authority to take a step against it. It was due to brave men like
Christopher H. Pyle and Senator Sam Ervin that people came to know that how the government was
ignoring and violating the provisions to the constitution. This violation of rules and laws by the
government led towards the formulation of foreign intelligence surveillance act. The primary feature
of this act was as follows; the creation of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court ( FISA Court )
which allows the executive branch to secretly obtain warrants for electronic surveillance but only with
strict judicial review Previously there were seven members of foreign intelligence surveillance act
court but now the number has been extended to eleven. All of these members are appointed by the

rhythmic beating they were being subjected to. The less talented runners struggled to stay with the

in common; they could not wait for this run to be over. Most members of the military can relate

A military.com article by Stew Smith details, We know that hard heel strikes are a result of over
striding and can lead to many foot, knee, and shin injuries. Also the heel strike in front of the body can
limit your momentum and slow you down significantly. (Smith) The current military mindset places
much more emphasis on the do and not nearly enough on the how . Most adults have adopted poor
running form over years of drawing upon techniques that they ve heard somewhere, not knowing the
validity of the information they are trusting. There is a tendency to overthink how to run which leads
to implementation of poor mechanics and form. In comparison, watching a young child run will
typically demonstrate the unaltered natural running form that the body was designed for.
Unfortunately, it is very difficult for an adult to unlearn bad habits. Instead, it is necessary to learn
new techniques and practice them until they become natural again. There are numerous training
classes and drills becoming readily available to service members to develop, or fix their running form.
Studies have already shown a reduction in the number of injuries being sustained from physical
training at several military installations. Many physical therapy programs have adopted the POSE
running technique and are incorporating it in the Army s Master Fitness Trainer course at installations
across the world in an effort to educate the community on proper form and injury prevention. The last
key to increased performance and longevity is routine stretching drills. Along with form drills,
stretching and flexibility drills also promote greater muscular recovery and development in addition to
increased injury prevention. Essentially, if the military is going to remain steadfast in its dedication to
conducting daily physical training, they

1950: the first completely live action film, Treasure Island; the return to classic animation, Cinderella;
and the first Disney television show at Christmas time. With this Christmas special, Walt saw the
potential in television and started the Disneyland anthology series, which featured Davy Crocket the
first mini series. The series played on all three networks and went through six name changes, but it is
the longest running series, twenty nine years. The Mickey Mouse Club premiered in 1955 and
produced many stars. Walt wanted to create something new. He wanted a place where parents and
children could have fun together. This was the groundwork for Disneyland. It took many years of
planning and construction, but on July 17, 1955, Disneyland opened its gates. This was a new type of
experience It was like entering a movie screen and being able to fly with Peter Pan, explore the wild
west with Davy Crocket, and have a wild tea party with the Mad Hatter. Disneyland has been the

Interpreters Of Maladies
Literary Analysis of Interpreters of Maladies
Interpreters of Maladies by Jhumpa Lahiri is a short story that focuses on a far from average family
vacation. Mr. Das and Mrs. Das take their three children on a family vacation to explore heritage and
show the children more about Indian culture. The Das family is being chauffeured by an Indian man
named Mr. Kapasi who is a translator in India that learns more about himself and the Das family on
this journey. The trip turns out to be more than expected when Mrs. Das makes a confession and her
sons life is put in danger. Interpreters of Maladies has much symbology that foreshadow many
elements. This paper will review those symbols and analyze how they reflect in the text.

The wheels are supposed to symbolize the wheel of life. They depict the cycle of creation,
preservation, and achievement of realization. The wheel can be applied to any character. For Mrs. Das
it shows she has not preserved herself exclusively to her husband which created a illegitment son and
she is lost in the idea that her life is the perfect American dream but the realization is far from this
fantasy. Mr.Kapasi life is symbolized in the wheel with the creation of his son life who passed away.
He keeps the preservation of his son s memory by keeping the interpreting job his wife hates. Another
piece of the wheel that holds symbolism for Mr. Kapasi is the part of the wheel that is carved with
countless entwined naked bodies, making love in various positons, women clinging to the necks of
men, their knees wrapped eternally around there lovers thighs. makes him think about how he never
has seen his wife s body completely naked like the carvings in the wheel. The carvings start to
symbolize how he would like to see Mrs. Das s

Ivan Ilych By Leo Tolstoy
In The Death of Ivan Ilych by Leo Tolstoy, Ivan Ilych is a highly regarded official in the court of
justice who lives carefree most of the time. However, as the story progresses, he starts to more and
more self analyze and become emotional as he ponders the reason for his hellish illness and coming
death . Although it may seem like he has done something to deserve such a cruel fate, it is honestly
just the way life works, and all of us have to accept this fact. That is what Ivan ends up realizing and
doing. It is not a punishment of how he has lived, but instead is a natural occurrence that ends up
hitting everyone at different times in our lives. While Ivan asks himself why he has been afflicted with
his illness he also starts to learn new things just like how we learn that the larger thematic function of
his suffering is to help him reflect on himself, his life, and the people around him. First, we re not to
see Ivan Ilych s suffering and death as some sort ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Through Ivan Ilych, Tolstoy is using death to explore the question of what makes a happy and joyful
life. It s depressing to know that Ivan learns that his wife doesn t love him. Tolstoy states She pitied
herself the more she hated her husband (1006). He s totally alone. Barely anything he s done in his life
means anything to him. However, he ends up realizing that the time where he was most happiest was
during his childhood. The further he departed from childhood and the nearer he came to the present
the more worthless and doubtful were the joys (1023). Ivan Ilych s childhood is the only happy part of
his life because it is the only point at which he had any real connections to other people. Happiness is
defined differently by everyone but for Ivan Ilych having real connections to and with other people is
his definition of being

What Caused The Fall Of The Canterbury Cathedral
Have you ever heard of the Canterbury Cathedral? It was built in 1070 and founded by St. Augustine.
It got damaged several times, but one of the things that caused the damaging was a fire. In this essay I
will talk about the history of the cathedral, a biography of the founder, and modern day use of the
cathedral. The Canterbury Cathedral is one of the oldest Christian churches in England. One of the
oldest churches is St. Joseph of Arimathea. In the church, there are beautiful glass stained windows
filled with pictures of people and designs. One of the most common glass windows is the
Conversation of the Jesse Tree. The Jesse Tree is a picture of a man or woman growing branches and
having flowers out at each branch. The cathedral had some

The Myth of Equal Education Essay
America is often enamored of itself as the champion of equality in every aspect of its society;
however, this is often not the case. This is true in every aspect of life, but is very evident specifically
in the American education system. Although America claims to give an equal education to all,
regardless of any external factors, economic class often plays a role in what type and how good of an
education a student may receive. Since education is the basis for future success, this inequity resulting
from socioeconomic status implies that this is where inequality in everyday life starts, and that the
system generates this inequality. If this is true, then one might ask, what then is the purpose of
education? If economic class predetermines ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His desire for learning was baffling to his family. Rodriguez says I devoted myself to my studies. I
became bookish, puzzling to all my family. Ambition set me apart (195). Even from an early age, the
defining characteristic of Rodriguez s unusual education displays itself. That characteristic is isolation.
Isolation is what enabled Rodriguez to have such an exceptional education, and started him on the
path to believing that through hard work anyone could receive a good education. Rodriguez is isolated
from his family by his very desire to become more educated. At first he shunned his heritage, and
isolated himself further. As his education continued, so did his isolation, until eventually he realized
what had happened, and returned to his family, and found that the isolation and education had changed
him in such a way that he could not relate to them anymore. He says ...after the early relief, this return,
came suspicion, nagging until I realized that I had not neatly sidestepped the impact of schooling. My
desire to do so was precisely the measure of how much I remained an academic. (205). Because of his
education, he realizes that he has become different, and that realization is what makes his difference
real. Malcolm X, on the other hand, had significantly different experiences, though at its core, his
education shared a significant similarity with Rodriguez s. Essentially, Malcolm X grew up on the
streets as a criminal. He

The Bill Of Rights And The Constitution
Before dealing with individual amendments I would like to deal with the entire Bill of Rights and the
constitution itself. The framers of the Constitution were wary of ceding too much power to the federal
government. They rightly believed many local citizens would never make it to the capital but would
interact with local government, so the power should be kept at the most local level possible. It was
impossible to foresee in 1791 a world with video conferencing, 24 hr news and the ability to fly
around the world within 36 hours. Because of the world we live in, I believe it is more necessary to
make the Constitution and the Bill of Rights the foundational laws of the land. In 1833, the Supreme
Court ruled in Barron v. Baltimore that the Bill of rights was written out of fear by the Antifederalist
to constrain the federal government. We have given the individual States the power to make laws that
conflict and contradict with Federal law, the laws of other states and national norms. It is these
contradictions that allowed the Jim Crow laws and the doctrine of Separate but Equal to flourish in the
aftermath of the Civil War. I believe that the law should be formulated at the highest level and filter
down to the lowest. Make the Constitution and the Bill of Rights the total law of the land and no other
law in any state may contradict them to ensure the beginnings of equality among all citizens. The First
Amendment states, Congress shall make no law respecting an

Who Is Katniss Everdeen A Hero
In literature, a hero must leave their familiar life and enter an unknown area where they would endure
many obstacles faced upon her.. In the novel, The Hunger Games, Katniss Everdeen was forced into a
new adventure where she had to fight for her life, public uprising was a theme that was represented
throughout the entire novel by Katniss actions and heroic efforts.
First of all, at the District 12 reaping, a young woman from the Seam volunteered out of love for her
sister to endeavor through the unknown. That woman was Katniss Everdeen, she and her family were
of great poverty and would never expect to live the luxury like at the Capitol for even one day, but

All 24 tributes were sent, by tube, into the Arena, where 23, in this case 22, of them would reach their
inevitable demise. The Games was Katniss only chance to prove her worthiness to the world, and
herself. She fought for her life for days, and even made a few alliances, such as Rue and Peeta. Rue
was a young girl from District 11, who had been watching Katniss since training. Rue reminded
Katniss of her sister, Prim, which made Katniss trust Rue easily. Soon after their alliance formed, Rue
was killed by a tribute from District 1, Marvel. He ended up being the first tribute Katniss killed in
cold blood, yet she managed to stay true to her heart but giving Rue a proper goodbye. I can t bring
myself to leave her like this. Past harm, but seeming utterly defenseless (236). The loss of an ally was
the first emotional test in the Arena. After the loss of Rue, Katniss found Peeta down by the stream.
Katniss nurtured him back to health and they then teamed up, since they were misled to believe that
two tributes from the same district, could both win this year s game, by the head gamemaker. Katniss,
with Peeta by her side, fought until the final tribute, Cato, met his death. After threatening to both eat
poison berries, which would cause there to be no victor that year, Katniss and Peeta were named
victors. The Arena was a representation of the next step in the Hero s Journey: The Innermost Cave.
Katniss was tested intellectually and emotionally in an unknown environment. By the end of the
Games, Katniss and Peeta were celebrities in Panem. Everywhere they went, hundreds of people were
cheering and chanting their names. At this point, Katniss had become one of the most well known

The Importance of Iterative Process Groups

The Importance of Iterative Process Groups
Project management involves five groups of processes: Initiating, Planning, Executing, Monitoring
and Controlling, and Closing. The process groups are important to a project s flow throughout its
lifecycle. The processes within the groups include the tools and/or techniques involved in applying the
skills and capabilities described in the PMBOK s Knowledge Area (Project Management Institute,
2013). This paper will discuss the importance of the iterative process of these groups by
demonstrating the need for integration and how failing to iterate the processes can affect healthcare
improvement. The paper will further ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Project Managers (PMs) incorporated the doctors advice into the WTIS project plans while
setting predetermined deadlines for implementation to provide a good balance between consultation
and the planning group processes. The project team took the advice and created assessment tools that
required medical staff s judgment in the important decision for each patient (Healthcare Project
Management, 2013). The processes arrived at desired result by repeating rounds of analysis or cycles
of medical operations. The objective was to bring the desired decision closer to discovery with
iteration. The iterative process can be used where the decision is not easily revocable or where the
consequences of revocation could be costly (Business Dictionary, n.d). To maintain equilibrium in
areas of appropriateness, point of care decision support, and capacity, processes were improved after
each cycle of testing which optimized procedures ordering process.
PMs integrated the project management processes groups to successfully manage the WITS project
because healthcare projects are a part of a larger organizational environment, and many factors that
might affect the project are out of the project manager s control. One cannot simply shorten patients
wait time because it does not ensure an improvement in clinical performance. Wait time has to

Victims Of Homosexuals During The Holocaust
The holocaust started in 1933 when hitler was the ruler. At first, Hitler didn t want to kill the Jews he
just wanted them to leave. The Jews didn t want to leave their homes. When hitler start to kill them he
brought them to concentration camps. He brought them to the camps by a train. During the Holocaust,
German authorities also targeted others groups because of their race. Other groups were persecuted on
political, ideological, and behavioral grounds, among them Communists, Socialists, Jehovah s
Witnesses, and homosexuals. Although Jews, whom the Nazis deemed a priority danger to Germany,
were the primary victims of Nazi racism, other victims included some 200,000 Roma. At least 200,000
mentally or physically disabled patients, mainly Germans, living in institutional settings, were
murdered in the so called Euthanasia Program. The Nazis sent 10,000 15,000 homosexuals to
concentration camps where they were forced to wear pink triangles. The Nazis also carried out pseudo
research to find out if homosexuality was inherited by injecting them with male hormones. They
offered homosexuals their freedom if they would agree to be castrated or submit themselves to sexual
abuse and prostitution. Under these conditions, an estimated 6,000 9,000 homosexual inmates died in

Bay Point Formation is about 100,000 years old, which is also the youngest rock formation, and it has a higher possibility for erosion to occur (Metzler). The main reason for the difference is that the two places are at different sides , one in the east, the other in the west, and because of this difference, the weather at these places can also have a big effect on the beaches. Erosion is a process that occurs at both the beaches in San Diego and Northeast Florida. The only difference between the two is that in San Diego, the erosion occurs on the bluffs, while in Florida, it occurs on the dunes. Both the natural and human activities cause erosion to occur at both places. The activities include the weather, such as the storms can wash away the sand, which will eventually cause erosion to occur, and human building structures near the shorelines can allow erosion to happen. Although erosion is still occurring at the shorelines, people have tried to do some activities that can help reduce or slow the bluff and dunes erosion at both places. In San Diego, people have built sea walls and placed riprap along the shorelines to help prevent erosion. Sea walls are usually made up of boulders, steels, and concrete and they are more expensive to build than the riprap (Metzler). Since then though, the numbers of Quebeckers that want to become sovereign has significantly increased. There is so many questions of what will happen if this does happen. In Europe, during this period, there was a complete destruction by fire of Jewish homes, Jewish businesses, Jewish neighborhoods, and Jewish people. This destruction was carried out under the direction of Adolf Hitler, during the years 1939 1945, but it actually began earlier, in 1933, when Hitler came to power in Germany. He promised to rebuild Germany s power and restore its prosperity (Isaacman, 16). This won the support of many Germans. • 11. The Environmental Effects Of Plastic Shopping Bags Originally patented in 1965, the single use plastic shopping bag has since become ubiquitous in America and around the world. Plastic bags were first introduced in grocery stores in 1977, and by the early 2000s they constituted 80% of the market for shopping bags (Laskow). These bags caught on because they were stronger, lighter, waterproof, and many people found them easier to carry than paper. Most importantly though, they were cheaper, meaning retail stores had strong incentives to make them available to customers and promote their use (Petru). In other words, plastic bags became popular, and remain so today, because they are convenient. However, this convenience does not take into account the environmental effects associated with their production, distribution, and disposal. Once these aspects of their use are considered, it is clear that the convenience of plastic shopping bags do not justify the harms to the ecosystem caused by their existence. Plastic bags are usually made out of high density polyethylene (HDPE), a strong, durable plastic made from ethylene monomers (Clark). 134 million metric tons of ethylene are produced each year as of 2014, with 28% of that production going towards the manufacture of HDPE (Lazonby, Ethene ). Ethylene is produced from oil and natural gas, and in the process has significant environmental consequences. According to a 2013 study by Ghanta, Fahey, and Subramaniam published in the journal Applied Petrochemical Research, For ethylene produced from naphtha and ethane [the two main sources of ethylene], the energy expended during the extraction and ocean based transportation of fossil fuel sources (crude oil and natural gas) contributes significantly to adverse environmental impacts such as GHG [greenhouse gas] emissions, acidification, and eco toxicity. To make ethylene, fossil fuels must be extracted, transported, and processed (Lazonby, Ethene ). Then the ethylene must be processed to make HDPE (Lazonby, Poly(Ethene) ). HDPE, in the form of plastic pellets, is then transported to the plastic bag manufacturer. In 1970, a man named Christopher H. Pyle discovered that the US army intelligence had hired 1500 officers whose job was to spy on protest or public demonstration that involved more than 20 people. This shocking news immediately captured the attention of Senator Sam Ervin, who was the chairman of a sub committee of senate related to constitutional rights. (Smith) The current military mindset places much more emphasis on the do and not nearly enough on the how . Most adults have adopted poor running form over years of drawing upon techniques that they ve heard somewhere, not knowing the validity of the information they are trusting. There is a tendency to overthink how to run which leads to implementation of poor mechanics and form. In comparison, watching a young child run will typically demonstrate the unaltered natural running form that the body was designed for. Unfortunately, it is very difficult for an adult to unlearn bad habits. Instead, it is necessary to learn new techniques and practice them until they become natural again. Many physical therapy programs have adopted the POSE running technique and are incorporating it in the Army s Master Fitness Trainer course at installations across the world in an effort to educate the community on proper form and injury prevention. • 24. Ivan Ilych By Leo Tolstoy In The Death of Ivan Ilych by Leo Tolstoy, Ivan Ilych is a highly regarded official in the court of justice who lives carefree most of the time. However, as the story progresses, he starts to more and more self analyze and become emotional as he ponders the reason for his hellish illness and coming death . Although it may seem like he has done something to deserve such a cruel fate, it is honestly just the way life works, and all of us have to accept this fact. That is what Ivan ends up realizing and doing. It is not a punishment of how he has lived, but instead is a natural occurrence that ends up hitting everyone at different times in our lives. While Ivan asks himself why he has been afflicted with his illness he also starts to learn new things just like how we learn that the larger thematic function of his suffering is to help him reflect on himself, his life, and the people around him. First, we re not to see Ivan Ilych s suffering and death as some sort ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Through Ivan Ilych, Tolstoy is using death to explore the question of what makes a happy and joyful life. It s depressing to know that Ivan learns that his wife doesn t love him. Tolstoy states She pitied herself the more she hated her husband (1006). He s totally alone. Barely anything he s done in his life means anything to him. However, he ends up realizing that the time where he was most happiest was during his childhood. The further he departed from childhood and the nearer he came to the present the more worthless and doubtful were the joys (1023). Ivan Ilych s childhood is the only happy part of his life because it is the only point at which he had any real connections to other people. • 26. The Myth of Equal Education Essay America is often enamored of itself as the champion of equality in every aspect of its society; however, this is often not the case. This is true in every aspect of life, but is very evident specifically in the American education system. Although America claims to give an equal education to all, regardless of any external factors, economic class often plays a role in what type and how good of an education a student may receive. Since education is the basis for future success, this inequity resulting from socioeconomic status implies that this is where inequality in everyday life starts, and that the system generates this inequality. If this is true, then one might ask, what then is the purpose of education? If economic class predetermines ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... His desire for learning was baffling to his family. Rodriguez says I devoted myself to my studies. I became bookish, puzzling to all my family. Ambition set me apart (195). Even from an early age, the defining characteristic of Rodriguez s unusual education displays itself. That characteristic is isolation. Isolation is what enabled Rodriguez to have such an exceptional education, and started him on the path to believing that through hard work anyone could receive a good education. Rodriguez is isolated from his family by his very desire to become more educated. At first he shunned his heritage, and isolated himself further. As his education continued, so did his isolation, until eventually he realized what had happened, and returned to his family, and found that the isolation and education had changed him in such a way that he could not relate to them anymore. He says ...after the early relief, this return, came suspicion, nagging until I realized that I had not neatly sidestepped the impact of schooling. My desire to do so was precisely the measure of how much I remained an academic. (205). Because of his education, he realizes that he has become different, and that realization is what makes his difference real. Malcolm X, on the other hand, had significantly different experiences, though at its core, his education shared a significant similarity with Rodriguez s. • 27. The Bill Of Rights And The Constitution Before dealing with individual amendments I would like to deal with the entire Bill of Rights and the constitution itself. The framers of the Constitution were wary of ceding too much power to the federal government. They rightly believed many local citizens would never make it to the capital but would interact with local government, so the power should be kept at the most local level possible. It was impossible to foresee in 1791 a world with video conferencing, 24 hr news and the ability to fly around the world within 36 hours. Because of the world we live in, I believe it is more necessary to make the Constitution and the Bill of Rights the foundational laws of the land. In 1833, the Supreme Court ruled in Barron v. Baltimore that the Bill of rights was written out of fear by the Antifederalist to constrain the federal government. We have given the individual States the power to make laws that conflict and contradict with Federal law, the laws of other states and national norms. It is these contradictions that allowed the Jim Crow laws and the doctrine of Separate but Equal to flourish in the aftermath of the Civil War. I believe that the law should be formulated at the highest level and filter down to the lowest. Make the Constitution and the Bill of Rights the total law of the land and no other law in any state may contradict them to ensure the beginnings of equality among all citizens. The First Amendment states, Congress shall make no law respecting an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Soon after their alliance formed, Rue was killed by a tribute from District 1, Marvel. Past harm, but seeming utterly defenseless (236). The loss of an ally was the first emotional test in the Arena. After the loss of Rue, Katniss found Peeta down by the stream. The processes within the groups include the tools and/or techniques involved in applying the skills and capabilities described in the PMBOK s Knowledge Area (Project Management Institute, 2013). The Project Managers (PMs) incorporated the doctors advice into the WTIS project plans while setting predetermined deadlines for implementation to provide a good balance between consultation and the planning group processes. The project team took the advice and created assessment tools that required medical staff s judgment in the important decision for each patient (Healthcare Project Management, 2013). The processes arrived at desired result by repeating rounds of analysis or cycles of medical operations. The objective was to bring the desired decision closer to discovery with iteration. The iterative process can be used where the decision is not easily revocable or where the consequences of revocation could be costly (Business Dictionary, n.d). To maintain equilibrium in areas of appropriateness, point of care decision support, and capacity, processes were improved after each cycle of testing which optimized procedures ordering process. PMs integrated the project management processes groups to successfully manage the WITS project because healthcare projects are a part of a larger organizational environment, and many factors that might affect the project are out of the project manager s control.
