Buşteni is a small mountain town in central Romania located in the Prahova Valley at the base of the Bucegi mountains. It has a population of around 8,553 people and its average altitude is 900 meters, making it a popular mountain resort that offers spectacular views and various tourism opportunities like skiing and mountain climbing. During World War I, the town and surrounding mountains were the site of military confrontations. A large 25 meter high memorial cross now sits atop a nearby peak and can be seen from throughout Buşteni.
