Business Transformation – what a refreshing change!

1. Share specialist resource, information, data, and best practice across projects
– provide the core project team with standard templates and specialist support on demand
2. Get it right first time and set clear specifications for development and testing
– if you need to compromise, make sure you choose time, cost, or scope but not quality
3. Start your benefits realisation planning from the beginning of your initiatives
– to track progress, agree owners, establish baselines, and measure scope changes
4. Anticipate, mitigate, and address the root causes of any resistance to change
– employee buy-in should be earned and embraced, not expected or demanded
5. Introduce Change Days with a preset time each month for your new releases
– don’t underestimate the positive effect of a consistent, controlled approach
6. Capture, as you go, your lessons learnt and successes earned
– remember to highlight things that went well, not just those that didn’t
7. Spend more time on project delivery than on governance
– make it proportionate to the risk and empower the Project Board
8. Consider undertaking pilots and rolling out in phases
– so you don’t end up digging a hole that you can’t get out of!
9. Ensure your projects are aligned and coordinated
– so your processes don’t look like patchwork quilts!
10. Engage with your stakeholders throughout
– they can help you to smooth over the cracks!

Share specialist resource, information, data, and best practice across projects – provide the core project team with standard templates and specialist support on demand 2. Get it right first time and set clear specifications for development and testing – if you need to compromise, make sure you choose time, cost, or scope but not quality 3. Start your benefits realisation planning from the beginning of your initiatives – to track progress, agree owners, establish baselines, and measure scope changes 4. Anticipate, mitigate, and address the root causes of any resistance to change – employee buy-in should be earned and embraced, not expected or demanded 5. Introduce Change Days with a preset time each month for your new releases – don’t underestimate the positive effect of a consistent, controlled approach 6. Capture, as you go, your lessons learnt and successes earned – remember to highlight things that went well, not just those that didn’t 7. Spend more time on project delivery than on governance – make it proportionate to the risk and empower the Project Board 8. Consider undertaking pilots and rolling out in phases – so you don’t end up digging a hole that you can’t get out of! 9. Ensure your projects are aligned and coordinated – so your processes don’t look like patchwork quilts! 10. Engage with your stakeholders throughout – they can help you to smooth over the cracks!
