Blackberry By Sylvia Plath Essay
Sylvia Plath s poem, Blackberrying, at first glance, suggests that the message of the poem will be
about picking blackberries. However, the poem s message is much deeper and far more complex than
that alone. By the use of expressive, colorful, and detailed imagery and language, parallels between
blackberries and Plath are made since it is evident that Plath is not only the speaker of the poem but
the only human character in the story, as well. Within these parallels, Blackberrying dramatizes
several areas of life and death such as in the emotions of loneliness and hopelessness, the struggle in
dealing with a void, as well as life s cycles and milestones. To begin with, there are seven different
colors that Plath mentions throughout the poem which add to its expressive, obviously colorful, and
detailed imagery and language. It is important to be aware of each color as they each add meaning and
message to the parallels. These colors are red blue, green, black, orange, blue green, pewter, and
white. One example of how one of these colors adds meaning and message to a parallel is, in the
poem, the dark, deep color of the blackberry is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, in the poem Plath walks down the isolated country road and around all of its bends and
turns. There are three turns that are specifically noted in the poem, each representing one of life s
distinct paths in Plath s life, as well as a specific milestone that she has reached while traveling to her
ultimate destination, the sea. Each turn and milestone signifies an important decision in which Plath
had to make in her life, which would direct her path from that point forward. Not only that, but as she
reaches each turn and bend in the road, she notices that the road continues to move forward, a parallel
that is drawn symbolizing that life, too, always moves forward, no matter

The Sixth Extinction Analysis
Today s world, meaning the 21st century, has changed significantly since the time of the early 18th
century. Yet, some ideals still hold value and importance when in reference to how people should live.
This essay will explore how Alexander Pope would interpret the actions and choices of people from
the 21st century if he were still alive. The pieces of work that will be critiqued by the perceptions of
Pope are two books The Sixth Extinction and Los Angeles against The Mountains. The piece of work
that I will be using to support Pope s interpretations and perceptions is Essay on Man , which is
written by Alexander Pope. The general message from Pope in Essay on Man is that God has created
everything to its perfection, and that the limits ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, it is this deep conservatism that brings a dilemma as to how Pope would react the the
content in The Sixth Extinction because this piece of literature sets out to make awareness of a mass
extinction that is being created by people which theoretically, would be supported by Pope. Yet, he
could also be disapproving since the end of the book sets forth to prevent an extinction, which in a
sense is trying to control nature. For example, in The Sixth Extinction Kolbert says There are all sorts
of seemingly disparate reasons that species are disappearing. But trace the process far enough and
inevitably you are led to the same culprit: one weedy species . (Kolbert 18). The weedy species that
Kolbert is referring to is the human race, and it is this species that is causing harm to other species.
Either way, the etiology is the same, without being located by someone onto a boat or a plane, it
would have been impossible for a frog carrying Bd to get from Africa to Australia ... (18). The author
goes further to depict the reason why some of these animal extinctions occur, but the most interesting
in my opinion is when she discusses how human beings interact with the habitats of certain animals.
The slice of the habitat they ve been marooned on is inadequate. A big cat that requires a range of
forty squares miles isn t likely to make it for long in an area of only twenty square miles (180). With
the weedy species cutting away and sectioning of parts of animal s habitats, it forces them to live with
restrictions and limitation. Smaller ranges to live in, less food, and cramped populations. All these
problem eventually attribute to death because these animals can t move at the same pace as humans
do, to adjust to the renewed habitat. This problem clearly would be disapproved by Alexander Pope.

Essay on Educational Goals and Philosophies
Educational Goals and Philosophies
For the past seven years, I have had the same dream to someday be a high school math teacher. I am
finally on my way to turning that dream into a reality. Along the way, I am learning a lot of things and
forming a number of opinions. One of the main areas in which I am forming new beliefs is in relation
to what methods I will use in teaching my class and what aspects of what philosophies I will employ.
First of all, however, I must reach the point where I have a class to teach.
How am I going to reach my goal of becoming a teacher? I believe I am taking the most important
step right now by attending a good college where I am gaining further knowledge in many areas, ...

I believe these subjects are necessary for a well rounded education, and as a math teacher, I will be
teaching one of these basic subjects. I do not believe there should be a curriculum that excludes one
form or another of math. It is important for our students to know math and these other basic subjects if
we want to be able to compete with the rest of the world economically and technologically. Not only
must students sit in a class where these subjects are taught, but they also need to master the material
before they move on to the next grade. This is the job of the teacher. It is up to the teacher to make
sure that his students understand the material and can do it on their own before he moves on to
something else. I believe that the grade a student makes reflects the teacher. If a student makes an F,
the teacher has failed in his teaching of that student. This does not mean that the teacher should make
his class easy. I still agree with the essentialist that academic rigor is an essential component of
education. However, I do not agree that this necessitates a great amount of homework. The level of
work can be tough and stretch the minds of the students, but if the teacher is able to teach his students
well in class and they comprehend the material and can practice it during the class period, I do not
think a lot of homework

How Does Smith Use Satire In A Modest Proposal
Jonathan Smith s A Modest Proposal uses certain literary strategies throughout his essay to portray his
opinions on the condition of the Irish Catholics. At first glance, his arguments and use of language
may seem quite ridiculous and even horrifying. However, his true intention does not seem to be to
convey a straightforward opinion. Instead, Smith employs a more ironic and satirical tone throughout
his writing in order to portray . Jonathan Smith expresses his thoughts in his writing with satirical
technique through his discussions containing exaggerated descriptions, economic reasoning, and
parodies of political messages. Smith s proposal is so distasteful that it would seem offensive;
especially during the time period in which it was written. However, this was done in order to show
how ridiculous and offensive the rich English Protestants seem with their abuses on Irish Catholics.
One such example of the mockery he uses is when he suggests that, this food will be somewhat dear,
and therefore very proper for the landlords, who as they have already devoured most of the parents,
seem to have the best title to the children, (Smith). Smith seems to be fully aware of how offensive he
sounds and wants to have his offensive plan associated with the rich in order to convey that the nature
of the rich is just as distasteful as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His proposal is so absurd that his attempt to support it with practical reasons just increases its
absurdity and irony. He does this very frequently throughout his writing, such as in his discussion of,
the money will circulate among our selves, the goods being entirely of our own growth and
manufacture, (Smith). The irony in this is contained in the fact that he is averting from writing about
the more brutal consequences of using infants for food consumption and only focusing on the benefits
when the safety of people should be placed on higher priority than

Hangover Research Paper
The problem with hangover remedies? That you re already hung over to begin with. You can have a
Bloody Mary and eggs to soothe your throbbing headache and unruly guts, but that usually means the
treacherous haul from your bed (or someone else s) to brunch. And that s just too much discomfort to
face after a good night of partying.
As has often been said, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of hangover cure. But is there any
way to actually prevent hangovers other than to, you know, not drink?
Maybe! Enter Drinkwel, an alcohol nutrition supplement that promises short term relief and long term
support against the negative effects of alcohol and claims to be approved by actual doctor types. So,

The combination of vitamins and antioxidants combat the effects of drinking on your entire body not
just your headache and they promote overall nutrition.
I decided to put the magic pills to the test over my five year college reunion because I was obviously
going to get faced there. The trick, McAdams told us, is to start taking the vitamins prior to any night
of heavy drinking. It s not about one off prevention but boosting up your system over time.
But, as ICP might ask, how does it work?
Like most pills that claim to prevent or assuage hangovers, it s a mix of natural ingredients designed to
support the organs that have to work the hardest to cleanse your body of sweet, poisonous alcohol. But
since hangovers themselves aren t an exact science ( Toxins? Dehydration? Vitamin depletion?), it s
hard to say exactly what you re curing. Thankfully, Drinkwel takes a broad spectrum approach. From
their site:

2. Amino acids to help process alcohol induced toxins.
3. Superfruits rich in antioxidants to neutralize free radicals.

Exploration of a Journal Article in Sociology This article is a report of new research on the first social
science policy architect Harry Alpert. This is because the article is basically a research that was
conducted on Harry Alpert thus giving us information about the person. The article takes the universal
format of research reports where there is an abstract in this case the summary, an introduction and the
body of the research. We can tell that this is a report of a new research conducted since there is no
reference is made from another source.in other words the article is purely about the social scientists,
his life and his views. This is not a review of any existing work but an actual article about this social
scientist. The article is all about understanding Alpert in tow basic ways; first through the examination
of the earlier development of his career and views.it talks of him being a great French scholar. He was
among US social scientists though he was not known quite well. He played an important role in the
developing U.S National science Foundation s early efforts so as to provide funds for social sciences.
The article also expresses his belief on the value that statistical work holds. This is thus the reason
why he was not shy when it came to giving critics on certain tendencies even in the public domain
(Pooley, .Solovey, 2011). Secondly the article highlights on Alpert s complex involvement in
particular tensions that existed in the mid century US

The Global Financial Crisis And Protectionism
Title: The Global Financial Crisis and Protectionism
Question: During 2008~2009 many developed nations gave subsidies to their automobile producers.
How might this have distorted international trade? Was this a reasonable thing to do given the
circumstances?
Introduction
There was an empirical research study on the effect of protectionism on the Gross Domestic Product
(GDP) in the United States (US). According to National Bureau Of Economic Research, a generalized
10 percent hike against emerging Asia improves the US current account balance as a share of GDP by
a mere 0.1 percentage point. The effect disappears after about two years, and in the absence of further
adjustment in net saving, it may even revert sign. So it implies that the protectionism has many
negative aspects on one s economy contrary to the nation s belief. I could find reasons why
protectionism affects international trade in negative ways from several research papers. In this paper, I
tried to verify those reasons by using certain economical models.
1. Protection measures benefit domestic producers and affiliated other parties, but society pays the
price.
Assumption 1) Domestic and foreign automobile products are a perfect substitution. 2) Government
offers the domestic producers subsidies by s per every produce.
In order to protect less competitive domestic automobile producers, the government offers subsidies to
them. It makes the domestic automobile producers feel that cost is reduced and

GDP and Fiscal Policy Essay
The gross domestic product (GDP) is an essential component of measuring business cycles. The most
universal description of a recession is two uninterrupted quarterly declines within the GDP, which is
basically the totality of every good and service that a country produces (Shenk, 2008). This
description may be deemed as one dimensional due to the fact that GDP is a measurement of the
national economic performance based on a sole economic statistic. By examining just one component
of the economic activities, an assessment is determined based on the entire economy. Therefore, GDP
is a critical gauge. Nonetheless, it has the capacity to foster a misleading conclusion. A more intricate
characterization of a recession has been stated by the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Appropriate government bodies make the determination of national fiscal policies. Occasionally there
are involuntary economic establishments and every now and then a discretionary fiscal policy is
necessary. These elements are established by the government bodies, which are predominately the
President or Congress. While economic activities rise and fall; both taxes and fiscal expenditures
involuntarily act in response in ways that even out the economy. For instance, during an economic
deceleration, the government s spending on benefits to the unemployed elevates automatically while
the rate of unemployment increases. This spending increase is automatic in that it does not entail
unequivocal proceedings by the President or Congress. Likewise, payments of tax decline
automatically as the economy enters a recession (Shenk, 2008). In addition to the fiscal policy s
automatic reactions, governments have the capacity to establish discretionary fiscal modifications in
order to combat an economic downturn. For instance, the stimulus package and bailouts in which
Congress recently approved is a great case in point of the discretionary fiscal policy.
Fiscal policies may potentially have a remarkable impact on both the production and employment of a
country. Expansionary fiscal policy seeks to enhance both an economy s demand and output. They do
this through enhanced governmental expenditures, or through the reductions of tax which

Thus, the area holds significant economic importance for Asia and the Pacific which is at risk with
mounting tensions and aggressive territorial claims in the South China Sea. Additionally, in regards to
the legitimacy of the conflict, The Permanent Court of Arbitration, which serves as a arbitral tribunal
to solve disputes in the international community in accordance with the UN and international law,
ruled China s nine dash line claims in the South China Sea, its occupation of Mischief Reef, its denial
of access to Scarborough Shoal, its island building in the Spratly s, and its harassment of others in the

The Defense Of Self Defense
Self Defense: The self defense claim has been around for many years and has been categorized in the
courts as an excuse or justification. One of the rarely considered premises of the excuse/justification
debate is that defenses are naturally unified. (Nourse V F, 2001). Depending on the individual cases
self defense might turn out to be both an excuse and a justification. If this is accurate then the debate
on excuses and justifications does not solve the problem of the theory of necessity or imminence. Self
defense is when a defendant states that he or she was confronted by a serious threat of bodily harm or
even death, this threat appears to be imminent, and therefore the only action for the defendant at that
moment was both necessary and proportionate. There are two factors that do not qualify under the
defense of self defense which are the defendant turned out to be the aggressor or if the defendant
failed to retreat from the threat. Self defense rules that for a defendants actions to be justified there
needed to be an imminent threat. For many years there has been a disagreement in whether the law has
become subjective or that the instructions given to the jurors are objective. Many scholars believe that
one problem involving imminent is there being too much time between the threat and the actual
killing. The self defense claim is commonly used for victims of battered women. Many facts for
women claiming battered women syndrome do not add up to self defense

I choose the topic Racism in today s society because it is a topic that dramatically effects our way of
living. I believe racism is not something that not only affects certain people, racism affects everyone.
My position on the topic of racism is that it s a negative faction in our society that results in death of

The importance of racism in America.
Racism in the U.S. is important and should be know because it is an important part in our history that
shaped America. People are not born racist, people who are racist were usually raised in an
atmosphere that embraced it. Racism is a negative faction in our society that affects you and everyone

can misuse their power.

Intertextuality Of Love
Throughout the ages, many have tried to comprehend the human experience of love and its ineffable
and mysterious force that leads us to complete euphoria or utter despair, with songs, paintings, and
stories. In Plato s Symposium, six guest including Socrates, tackle and attempt to define love amongst
each other. With each attempt, and our study of Johns gospel, the intertextuality between the
symposium and John 15:8 17 helps one better understand the portrait that John portrays of Jesus as the
ultimate lover and only way to being fully complete.
In the Farewell Discourse of Johns gospel, Jesus speaks of his abiding love and ultimate
commandment given to his disciples. He tells his disciples, As the Father loves me, so I also love you.
Remain in my love... I have told you this so that my joy might be in you and your joy might be
complete. This is my commandment: love one another as I love you (John 15:9 12). This guide he
gives to his disciples, as a way to live in relation to each other, can connect with that of Phaedrus idea
of love. In the Symposium, Phaedrus speaks of love as a great god who gives the greatest goods and
there is no greater good given to a boy than a lover. The lover is the guidance, to hold accountable the
boy, just as we are held accountable by Jesus. He gives us this commandment of simply loving each
other as he loves us and the Father him. Just as the Lover in Phaedrus definition of love, the Lover is
guiding the boy to be his companion and to love

Brandon Ingram Case Study
This article is about what kind of player Brandon Ingram will be when he starts his rookie season with
the Lakers. He is not going to cause as much drama as D Angelo Russell did last season. During his
introductory news conference on Tuesday, he did not anticipate how he might play this season instead
he promised that he would be coachable. He said this same word three times as he was questioned at
the Lakers practice facility with second round draft pick Ivica Zubac. He said that he will be
coachable enough to listen to the coach. He just expects to work hard and show up every day
aggressive. He also pointed out that no one can replace Kobe Bryant and that as long as his coach is
happy, he is happy. This sounded a little prepared and cheesy, ... Show more content on

Researchers have now found that eating pasta actually lowers chances of obesity after examining data
on thousands of Italians. According to George Pounis savoring pasta helps a healthy body mass index,
lower waist circumference, and better waist hip ratio after looking at data. Older research has
recommended the Mediterranean Diet which is a lifestyle not a meal plan. Researchers say that the
unknown about how pasta affects health has been solved by this new study. These results were
published online, July 4 in the journal Nutrition and Diabetes. Pounis added that eating pasta does not
increase body weight but actually lowers it. People have avoided pasta in these current years because
they thought it was making them fat, but this new research has caused people to look back on these
views. Two huge studies were started in Pozzilli, Italy so Pounis and the others part of IRCCS
Neuromed can analyze. This included 23,000 Italians. One of the studies was the Moli sani Project
which involved citizens part of the Molise region and the other was the Italian Nutrition and Health
Survey which looks at the eating habits in all of Italy. The research didn t include overeating pasta
which could add weight. Licia Iacoviello wrote that the obese population were older and had higher
waist and hip circumference as well as waist to hip ratio. They also ate more

Reflection On Camp Reflection
Camp Reflection This is not my fault Trey screamed as we quickly pulled up alongside one of my
friends canoe. I then jumped into their canoe and flipped them over. Camp is so fun I yelled. This year
at camp we focused a lot on who am I, who are we, and who is he. I grew a lot in my faith this year at
camp. I have a couple younger siblings and they always tell me how they cannot wait for camp. So if
you were to cancel camp they would be very disappointed, Camp was awesome. I am unique in god s
eyes and this is what i m like. I think I am great at managing my time well, also I start a project
quickly. Some surveys that we took said that I am naturalistic (likes nature) and intrapersonal (has a
ton of hobbies and likes to work by himself) I think this fits me well because I like working by myself
in a group because then I don t do all of it plus I have to trust myself to get something done instead of
another person. Another survey we took said I was a auditory learner. I do not think this is true
because I believe that I learn way better when someone is standing next to me explaining how to do
something and letting me try. Also it said that I am a morning person. This is so true because after I
wake up for about 5 minutes I have a lot of energy plus at camp when Mr. Lowe came into our cabin
at night he said that there was polar bearing at 7:15 the next morning and I thought I was definitely
going to do it and I did. So that is why I think I am a morning person. One thing at camp that I noticed
is that I like to be cheered for, because when we did the belly flop contest I stood there on top of the
diving board looking down at the water about to do a double front flip and land with a bellflop. It was
kind of nerve racking knowing you were going to hit the water from a 5 foot fast drop but when
everyone cheered I jumped and it was awesome. Were all different people but when we come together
were a giant family with a ton of different characteristics and emotions. At camp we had a couple of
campfires. At the first campfire a we all shares some struggles we have had in life so far. Then at the
second campfire we all told about how we grew in our faith since then. I really like our cabins because
at night we

Administration For Children s Services Case Study
The agency I have chosen is Administration for Children s Services (ACS). It is an agency that is a
part of the New York City government. Administration for Children s Services protects, ensures, and
promotes the wellbeing of New York City s children and families. ACS investigates child abuse and
neglect. They have numerous responsibilities such as investigations and evaluations of the safety and
well being of children. They also assess the risk of future abuse, file petitions and testify in family
court, and identify interventions that can reduce risks to children. They provide direct foster care and
adoption services, child welfare, juvenile justice, and administer head start and child care programs

Once a report meets the requirements for an investigation it is assigned to a Child Protective Specialist
and a child protective investigation must commence. An attempt to contact the reported child s family
must be conducted within 24 to 48 hours of receiving the report. They then have up to 60 days to
investigate and make a determination on the allegation or allegations made in the initial report. This
includes any other evidence of abuse or maltreatment discovered during the course of an investigation.
In the event that the Child Protective Specialist should find credible evidence of maltreatment of
abuse, it is the duty of ACS to take action based on the assessment of risk in the situation. Action can
range from removing a child from their home to providing and referring a family to preventative
services contracted through ACS. It is their duty to provide effective interventions that reduce risk to
children. There are over 1,200 Child Protective Specialists who conduct daily investigations. In 2016
the State Central Register got 64,851 reports from across the five boroughs and ACS conducted
57,160 consolidated investigations at the state s request. As of September 2016 there were an average
of 9 cases per caseworker, which is under the target of 12 cases per worker. ACS often takes
preventative measures to provide safety for children and families but there are times when they fail to
perform their duties effectively, leaving children to remain in

The English Language Examination Tests
1. Introduction
Over the last 10 years the Caribbean Examinations Council has reported that in the English Language
Examination which tests students competence in understanding and expression, there are increasing
problems. Among these are the low level of ability to differentiate between a descriptive essay and a
story , fewer candidates showed an understanding of the requirements of a descriptive essay and
organisation was weak (CXC, 2014). Although the performance the year before was more favourable,
again the report revealed the at there was a serious issue of a lack of understanding of sentence
structure and formatting. The report also revealed that there was a significant amount of interference

Swastika Significance
The Swastika went from being a great symbol that was worshiped, to being a hated symbol on a flag
that represented one of the worst things that has ever happened in history, mass genocide. The
Swastika is best known as a symbol on the flag for the National Socialist German Workers Party
(Nazi) in Germany. The Nazis were a political group of people trying to take over the world and
exterminate the Jews during WWII in 1933 1945. Adolf Hitler became their leader and led Germany
to exterminate between 5 and 6 million Jews during that time.. Hitler adopted the Swastika because of
its ancient Aryan origins. The history of the Swastika goes way back 11,000 years ago with the
Hindus. The Swastika was actually not hated but cherished. It was a religious symbol that meant good
fortune. There is still a holiday celebrated in many Eastern cultures where they shoot off fireworks in
the shape of Swastikas. It went from a loved symbol by many cultures ... Show more content on

Peter Madsen, part of the movement said, We just want people to know that the swastika comes in
many other forms, none of which have ever been used for anything bad. We are also trying to show
the right wing fascists that it s wrong to use this symbol. If we can educate the public about the true
meanings of the swastika, maybe we can take it away from the fascists (Campion, How the World
Loved the Swastika until Hitler Stole It). Despite all of this, Adolf Hitler has forever ruined the
original meaning of the Swastika. Freddie Knoller, a man who lived through the Holocaust said he
could never see it as anything but bad. He said, For the people who went through the Holocaust, we
will always remember what the swastika was like in our life a symbol of pure evil, (Campion, How
the World Loved the Swastika until Hitler Stole It). The Swastika will always be known above all else
as a symbol of that

Peter The Great s Impact On Russia With St. Petersburg
Much like Tiberius, Peter the Great had an overall auspicious impact on Russia with St. Petersburg.
During the late seventeenth century, he was a Russian czar both narcissistic and thirsty for power.
Mostly because of his reforms, Peter is known to have a positive effect on Russia, though it is
debatable. Throughout his reign and life, Peter continued struggling just to maintain power in Europe.
His reign marks a dramatic shift in the development and goal of Russia. Peter took Russia into the
European world, westernizing it, and leading him to create what is known as the the window to the
west for Russia. He did this by adopting European customs, administrative systems, architecture, and
many other ideas from Europe. He mainly focused on the navy and new technology advances Russia
could use (Whisenhunt 329). Usually overlooked, Peter the Great was also able to create St.
Petersburg, contributing to his positive effect on Russia. St. Petersburg made Russia a major European
power politically and socially, through culture and economics. However, despite his accomplishments
Peter the Great was a narcissist, but he used his power ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

was responsible for over tens of thousands of deaths during his thirty six yearlong reign. Henry
contributed to the loss of innocent people s heads, which caused a negative impact in England. In

was partially humane (Lowry 128). However, nevertheless, Henry s murders could not be forgotten

Important Technologies Of Dsp And Reason Behind Its...
Nijo John HW1 Important Technologies in DSP and reason behind its importance Digital signal
processing (DSP) is the numerical manipulation of signals, usually with the intention to measure,
filter, produce or compress continuous analog signals. It is characterized by the use of digital signals
to represent these signals as discrete time, discrete frequency, or other discrete domain signals in the
form of a sequence of numbers or symbols to permit the digital processing of these signals. In this
digital Era, Signal processing plays an important role in making our life much easier. The important
theorems and technologies used in Signal Processing are Image Processing, Biomedical Signal
Processing, Fourier Transform, Convolution, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Image processing must be approached in a manner consistent with the scientific method so that others
may reproduce, and validate, one s results. This includes recording and reporting processing actions,
and applying similar treatments to adequate control images. Image Processing helps in Medical fields
to detect severe diseases like cancer. For the security devices, Image Processing plays an important
role. So In our day to day life, Digital Signal Processing especially Digital Image processing has its
own major contributions to make it easy. 2. Biomedical Signal Processing Our bodies are constantly
communicating information about our health. This information can be captured through physiological
instruments that measure heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen saturation levels, blood glucose, nerve
conduction, brain activity and so forth. Traditionally, such measurements are taken at specific points in
time and noted on a patient s chart. Physicians actually see less than one percent of these values as
they make their rounds and treatment decisions are made based upon these isolated readings.
Biomedical signal processing involves the analysis of these measurements to provide useful
information upon which clinicians can make decisions. Engineers are discovering new ways to
process these signals using a variety of mathematical formulae and algorithms. Working with
traditional biomeasurement tools, the signals can be

Zinc Oxide Semiconductors Nanowires ( The ) For Gas Detection
Tin Oxide Semiconductors Nanowires(NW) for Gas Detection.
In the recent years nanoscale sensors have become more and more popular. When making a
nanostructure based sensor the most important aspects that have to be taken into account are:
sensitivity, selectivity and stability. The way gas sensors function is determined by the convection of
electrical conductivity due to surface reactions such as oxidation or reduction caused by the exposure
to different types of gases. Recently a great quantity of effort has been put into resolving important
issues like novel sensing material resources, data analytical method (Fast Fourier and wave transform,
pattern recognition), measurement techniques (static and dynamic), fabrication methods and ... Show

Tin oxide gas sensors have been manufactured in the form of thin foils in which nanosized grains are
screen printed onto prefabricated electrons, followed by torching at high temperatures. These sensors
can easily detect substances like hydrogen, vapour particles emitted by alcohol, oxygen, and
dangerous gases like carbon monoxide [2 3]. This technology is desirable because it has a large
number of advantages: small dimensions, low production costs, low power consumption, on line
operation and high compatibility with microelectric processing. Moreover the necessity for gas
sensors is very important due to the fact that many kinds of gases are emitted from various sources
into the places where we work, where we live or in the outdoors. Many of these gases are dangerous to
human beings and also to the environment [4]. Furthermore most gases have a very low concentration
therefore sensing devices must be able to detect the presence of this hazardous gases very effectively
and monitor them so that no life threatening problems develop. Therefore this technology has a wide
range of appliation, from industrial applications to household safety.
Nanowire sensor manufacture.
One dimensional (1 D) nanowires have found an application in the field of gas sensors due to their
high surface to volume ratio [3]. There are different ways 1 D NW can be fabricated:
The first way is to deposit slurry containing NW in a crystalline form onto an

Essay about William Blake´s Pity based on Shakespeare´s...
William Blake s colour print painting filled with watercolors and ink is known as Pity, it is one of a
large group of paintings known as Large Colour Prints . In Pity, a woman lying on the ground appears
to be deceased, while two figures riding horses fly above her with a young baby in hand. This painting
was completed in 1795, but the painting relates more to the characteristics of renaissance style
drawing. Sense the woman figure lying down does not appear in Macbeth s simile on Pity, the woman
figure lying down creates difficulties for commentators who draw conclusions on Shakespeare s text
in their interpretations of Blake s painting. By exploring the influences of Blake s own visual and
verbal imagination of which he acquires from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The women figure lying on the ground looks as if she is dead. She lies there gazing up into nowhere
with a solid glare. Instead of the angel figure giving life to the figure lying down; it seems as if the
angel figure is taking the life of a baby from her, as she is now dead and the angels are taking care of
the baby. The angel figure from the horse reaches her arms out to grasp the baby. All of the figures
have the same hair color, blonde with slight curls. Along with the curls we notice that the front angel
figure s hair is being blown straight up; this will later be explained.
There are four figures and two horses in this painting. Each of the horses are centered and facing
horizontally with very few vertical lines. The majority of the painting is smooth flowing without
jagged, sharp or straight lines. In Pity there is darkness surrounding the characters, forcing the figures
to stand out with great measure in the light. The colors in the background do not convey meaning to
the picture. The background is dark and solemn, resembling blank space. The figures in Pity seem to
carry the meaning, as opposed to the background. Because there is darkness surrounding the figures,
there does not seem to be a source of the light, yet light does outline each figure. It seems that Blake
did this to focus on the figures and not the background. In this painting the horses are painted grey.
Grey is more of a monotone color resembling peace. The figure riding on the

Women and the Media
The Perfect Female Body:
Long before beauty pageants, Barbie dolls, and extra ordinarily beautiful girls, came about the idea of
the female body. Whether you are a believer of creationalism, scientology, or evolutionism, somehow
we all came about with the perception of the perfect female. Women have always been seen, and
portrayed as a sex symbol, and usually the disobedient one. Dating back to B.C and the story of Adam
and Eve, Eve was the naked one who bit into the fruit that god told her was forbidden. Why couldn t it
have been Adam that caused such scandal, and was the cause for destruction, and crime in the world,
and not Eve? From the believed beginning of time, to present day, women have really only progressed

Everyday of their lives, people are bombarded with advertisements pushing to sell them something, or
broadcasting a new and upcoming television program. The average American sees as many as 300 500
advertisements per day. Some see as many as 1,200 a day. (Jean Kilbourne, Ed. D.) General media is
tied with public relations, and has become a source of entertainment to the public eye. Women are
usually seen as eye candy, to attract the male heterosexual audience. Men and woman are usually
portrayed in different ways, on national television, and Hollywood films. Men usually play the tough
guy, macho man roles, while the women are predominately represented as white, young, glamorous,
heterosexual, and less influential then men. (Campbell and Carilli, 2005) Attractive women are usually
displayed in both male and female advertisements, and play a double role. Women will think that if
they purchase this product, they will resemble the model advertising the product, and the men are
tricked to think that if they purchase the product, that they will attract women like the ones advertising
the product. This is the sex sells propaganda tactic. Models in the advertisements aren t supposed to
look like the average, ordinary people. To sell products, advertisers use computer generation tools, to
erase any flaws, to appeal to a consumer. The goals of print media are usually reached, and out to
target the younger audience. According to a survey conducted on

Is Diabetes Mellitus ( Dm ) Is A Serious Public Health...
Introduction : Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a serious public health problem in the world that has an
adverse effect on the quality of life of several people (Al Sarayra Khalidi, 2012; Azinge, 2013)1. It is
highlighted for morbidity and mortality (Khattab, Khader, Al Khawaldeh, Ajlouni, 2010; Sagar,
2011)2. World Health Organization (WHO) defines DM as metabolic disorder characterized by
chronic hyperglycemia with disturbances of carbohydrate, fat, and protein metabolism that results
from disturbances in insulin secretion, insulin action, or both. Diabetes is associated with reduced life
expectancy; the significant morbidity associated with diabetes arises from micro vascular
complications, increased risk of macro vascular complications (like ischemic heart disease, stroke, and
peripheral vascular disease), and diminished quality of life3 (WHO, 1999).
Jordan is one of the 19 nations of the International diabetes federation MENA region , 415 million
individuals have diabetes in the world and more than 35.4 million individuals in the MENA Region;
by 2040 this will ascend to 72.1 million, there were 374,100 affected of diabetes in Jordan in 2015,

  • 2. Blackberry By Sylvia Plath Essay Sylvia Plath s poem, Blackberrying, at first glance, suggests that the message of the poem will be about picking blackberries. However, the poem s message is much deeper and far more complex than that alone. By the use of expressive, colorful, and detailed imagery and language, parallels between blackberries and Plath are made since it is evident that Plath is not only the speaker of the poem but the only human character in the story, as well. Within these parallels, Blackberrying dramatizes several areas of life and death such as in the emotions of loneliness and hopelessness, the struggle in dealing with a void, as well as life s cycles and milestones. To begin with, there are seven different colors that Plath mentions throughout the poem which add to its expressive, obviously colorful, and detailed imagery and language. It is important to be aware of each color as they each add meaning and message to the parallels. These colors are red blue, green, black, orange, blue green, pewter, and white. One example of how one of these colors adds meaning and message to a parallel is, in the poem, the dark, deep color of the blackberry is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, in the poem Plath walks down the isolated country road and around all of its bends and turns. There are three turns that are specifically noted in the poem, each representing one of life s distinct paths in Plath s life, as well as a specific milestone that she has reached while traveling to her ultimate destination, the sea. Each turn and milestone signifies an important decision in which Plath had to make in her life, which would direct her path from that point forward. Not only that, but as she reaches each turn and bend in the road, she notices that the road continues to move forward, a parallel that is drawn symbolizing that life, too, always moves forward, no matter ... • 3. The Sixth Extinction Analysis Today s world, meaning the 21st century, has changed significantly since the time of the early 18th century. Yet, some ideals still hold value and importance when in reference to how people should live. This essay will explore how Alexander Pope would interpret the actions and choices of people from the 21st century if he were still alive. The pieces of work that will be critiqued by the perceptions of Pope are two books The Sixth Extinction and Los Angeles against The Mountains. The piece of work that I will be using to support Pope s interpretations and perceptions is Essay on Man , which is written by Alexander Pope. The general message from Pope in Essay on Man is that God has created everything to its perfection, and that the limits ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, it is this deep conservatism that brings a dilemma as to how Pope would react the the content in The Sixth Extinction because this piece of literature sets out to make awareness of a mass extinction that is being created by people which theoretically, would be supported by Pope. Yet, he could also be disapproving since the end of the book sets forth to prevent an extinction, which in a sense is trying to control nature. For example, in The Sixth Extinction Kolbert says There are all sorts of seemingly disparate reasons that species are disappearing. But trace the process far enough and inevitably you are led to the same culprit: one weedy species . (Kolbert 18). The weedy species that Kolbert is referring to is the human race, and it is this species that is causing harm to other species. Either way, the etiology is the same, without being located by someone onto a boat or a plane, it would have been impossible for a frog carrying Bd to get from Africa to Australia ... (18). The author goes further to depict the reason why some of these animal extinctions occur, but the most interesting in my opinion is when she discusses how human beings interact with the habitats of certain animals. The slice of the habitat they ve been marooned on is inadequate. A big cat that requires a range of forty squares miles isn t likely to make it for long in an area of only twenty square miles (180). With the weedy species cutting away and sectioning of parts of animal s habitats, it forces them to live with restrictions and limitation. Smaller ranges to live in, less food, and cramped populations. All these problem eventually attribute to death because these animals can t move at the same pace as humans do, to adjust to the renewed habitat. This problem clearly would be disapproved by Alexander Pope. The most ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Essay on Educational Goals and Philosophies Educational Goals and Philosophies For the past seven years, I have had the same dream to someday be a high school math teacher. I am finally on my way to turning that dream into a reality. Along the way, I am learning a lot of things and forming a number of opinions. One of the main areas in which I am forming new beliefs is in relation to what methods I will use in teaching my class and what aspects of what philosophies I will employ. First of all, however, I must reach the point where I have a class to teach. How am I going to reach my goal of becoming a teacher? I believe I am taking the most important step right now by attending a good college where I am gaining further knowledge in many areas, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I believe these subjects are necessary for a well rounded education, and as a math teacher, I will be teaching one of these basic subjects. I do not believe there should be a curriculum that excludes one form or another of math. It is important for our students to know math and these other basic subjects if we want to be able to compete with the rest of the world economically and technologically. Not only must students sit in a class where these subjects are taught, but they also need to master the material before they move on to the next grade. This is the job of the teacher. It is up to the teacher to make sure that his students understand the material and can do it on their own before he moves on to something else. I believe that the grade a student makes reflects the teacher. If a student makes an F, the teacher has failed in his teaching of that student. This does not mean that the teacher should make his class easy. I still agree with the essentialist that academic rigor is an essential component of education. However, I do not agree that this necessitates a great amount of homework. The level of work can be tough and stretch the minds of the students, but if the teacher is able to teach his students well in class and they comprehend the material and can practice it during the class period, I do not think a lot of homework ... • 5. How Does Smith Use Satire In A Modest Proposal Jonathan Smith s A Modest Proposal uses certain literary strategies throughout his essay to portray his opinions on the condition of the Irish Catholics. At first glance, his arguments and use of language may seem quite ridiculous and even horrifying. However, his true intention does not seem to be to convey a straightforward opinion. Instead, Smith employs a more ironic and satirical tone throughout his writing in order to portray . Jonathan Smith expresses his thoughts in his writing with satirical technique through his discussions containing exaggerated descriptions, economic reasoning, and parodies of political messages. Smith s proposal is so distasteful that it would seem offensive; especially during the time period in which it was written. However, this was done in order to show how ridiculous and offensive the rich English Protestants seem with their abuses on Irish Catholics. One such example of the mockery he uses is when he suggests that, this food will be somewhat dear, and therefore very proper for the landlords, who as they have already devoured most of the parents, seem to have the best title to the children, (Smith). Smith seems to be fully aware of how offensive he sounds and wants to have his offensive plan associated with the rich in order to convey that the nature of the rich is just as distasteful as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... His proposal is so absurd that his attempt to support it with practical reasons just increases its absurdity and irony. He does this very frequently throughout his writing, such as in his discussion of, the money will circulate among our selves, the goods being entirely of our own growth and manufacture, (Smith). The irony in this is contained in the fact that he is averting from writing about the more brutal consequences of using infants for food consumption and only focusing on the benefits when the safety of people should be placed on higher priority than ... • 6. Hangover Research Paper The problem with hangover remedies? That you re already hung over to begin with. You can have a Bloody Mary and eggs to soothe your throbbing headache and unruly guts, but that usually means the treacherous haul from your bed (or someone else s) to brunch. And that s just too much discomfort to face after a good night of partying. As has often been said, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of hangover cure. But is there any way to actually prevent hangovers other than to, you know, not drink? Maybe! Enter Drinkwel, an alcohol nutrition supplement that promises short term relief and long term support against the negative effects of alcohol and claims to be approved by actual doctor types. So, follow the instructions and feel less/no hangover? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The combination of vitamins and antioxidants combat the effects of drinking on your entire body not just your headache and they promote overall nutrition. I decided to put the magic pills to the test over my five year college reunion because I was obviously going to get faced there. The trick, McAdams told us, is to start taking the vitamins prior to any night of heavy drinking. It s not about one off prevention but boosting up your system over time. But, as ICP might ask, how does it work? Like most pills that claim to prevent or assuage hangovers, it s a mix of natural ingredients designed to support the organs that have to work the hardest to cleanse your body of sweet, poisonous alcohol. But since hangovers themselves aren t an exact science ( Toxins? Dehydration? Vitamin depletion?), it s hard to say exactly what you re curing. Thankfully, Drinkwel takes a broad spectrum approach. Superfruits rich in antioxidants to neutralize free radicals. 4. Vitamin B Complex to aid metabolism and maintain ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. A Research Report on the First Social Science Policy... Exploration of a Journal Article in Sociology This article is a report of new research on the first social science policy architect Harry Alpert. This is because the article is basically a research that was conducted on Harry Alpert thus giving us information about the person. The article takes the universal format of research reports where there is an abstract in this case the summary, an introduction and the body of the research. We can tell that this is a report of a new research conducted since there is no reference is made from another source.in other words the article is purely about the social scientists, his life and his views. This is not a review of any existing work but an actual article about this social scientist. The article is all about understanding Alpert in tow basic ways; first through the examination of the earlier development of his career and views.it talks of him being a great French scholar. He was among US social scientists though he was not known quite well. He played an important role in the developing U.S National science Foundation s early efforts so as to provide funds for social sciences. The article also expresses his belief on the value that statistical work holds. This is thus the reason why he was not shy when it came to giving critics on certain tendencies even in the public domain (Pooley, .Solovey, 2011). Secondly the article highlights on Alpert s complex involvement in particular tensions that existed in the mid century US ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Global Financial Crisis And Protectionism Title: The Global Financial Crisis and Protectionism Question: During 2008~2009 many developed nations gave subsidies to their automobile producers. How might this have distorted international trade? Was this a reasonable thing to do given the circumstances? Introduction There was an empirical research study on the effect of protectionism on the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in the United States (US). According to National Bureau Of Economic Research, a generalized 10 percent hike against emerging Asia improves the US current account balance as a share of GDP by a mere 0.1 percentage point. The effect disappears after about two years, and in the absence of further adjustment in net saving, it may even revert sign. So it implies that the protectionism has many negative aspects on one s economy contrary to the nation s belief. I could find reasons why protectionism affects international trade in negative ways from several research papers. In this paper, I tried to verify those reasons by using certain economical models. 1. Protection measures benefit domestic producers and affiliated other parties, but society pays the price. Assumption 1) Domestic and foreign automobile products are a perfect substitution. 2) Government offers the domestic producers subsidies by s per every produce. In order to protect less competitive domestic automobile producers, the government offers subsidies to them. It makes the domestic automobile producers feel that cost is reduced and ... • 9. GDP and Fiscal Policy Essay The gross domestic product (GDP) is an essential component of measuring business cycles. The most universal description of a recession is two uninterrupted quarterly declines within the GDP, which is basically the totality of every good and service that a country produces (Shenk, 2008). This description may be deemed as one dimensional due to the fact that GDP is a measurement of the national economic performance based on a sole economic statistic. By examining just one component of the economic activities, an assessment is determined based on the entire economy. Therefore, GDP is a critical gauge. Nonetheless, it has the capacity to foster a misleading conclusion. A more intricate characterization of a recession has been stated by the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Appropriate government bodies make the determination of national fiscal policies. Occasionally there are involuntary economic establishments and every now and then a discretionary fiscal policy is necessary. These elements are established by the government bodies, which are predominately the President or Congress. While economic activities rise and fall; both taxes and fiscal expenditures involuntarily act in response in ways that even out the economy. For instance, during an economic deceleration, the government s spending on benefits to the unemployed elevates automatically while the rate of unemployment increases. This spending increase is automatic in that it does not entail unequivocal proceedings by the President or Congress. Likewise, payments of tax decline automatically as the economy enters a recession (Shenk, 2008). In addition to the fiscal policy s automatic reactions, governments have the capacity to establish discretionary fiscal modifications in order to combat an economic downturn. For instance, the stimulus package and bailouts in which Congress recently approved is a great case in point of the discretionary fiscal policy. Fiscal policies may potentially have a remarkable impact on both the production and employment of a country. Expansionary fiscal policy seeks to enhance both an economy s demand and output. They do this through enhanced governmental expenditures, or through the reductions of tax which ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Countries in the South China Sea that lay economic and territorial claims such as the Philippines, Malaysia, and Japan have expressed security concerns regarding China s aggressive expansion unto territories such as the Spratyl Islands and Rubi Reef as China had increased security and surveillance in this territory may lead to conflict in trade, fishing, and other activities in the South China Sea. • 13. The Defense Of Self Defense Self Defense: The self defense claim has been around for many years and has been categorized in the courts as an excuse or justification. One of the rarely considered premises of the excuse/justification debate is that defenses are naturally unified. (Nourse V F, 2001). Depending on the individual cases self defense might turn out to be both an excuse and a justification. If this is accurate then the debate on excuses and justifications does not solve the problem of the theory of necessity or imminence. Self defense is when a defendant states that he or she was confronted by a serious threat of bodily harm or even death, this threat appears to be imminent, and therefore the only action for the defendant at that moment was both necessary and proportionate. There are two factors that do not qualify under the defense of self defense which are the defendant turned out to be the aggressor or if the defendant failed to retreat from the threat. Self defense rules that for a defendants actions to be justified there needed to be an imminent threat. For many years there has been a disagreement in whether the law has become subjective or that the instructions given to the jurors are objective. Many scholars believe that one problem involving imminent is there being too much time between the threat and the actual killing. The self defense claim is commonly used for victims of battered women. Many facts for women claiming battered women syndrome do not add up to self defense ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Instead of the angel figure giving life to the figure lying down; it seems as if the angel figure is taking the life of a baby from her, as she is now dead and the angels are taking care of the baby. The angel figure from the horse reaches her arms out to grasp the baby. All of the figures have the same hair color, blonde with slight curls. Along with the curls we notice that the front angel figure s hair is being blown straight up; this will later be explained. There are four figures and two horses in this painting. Each of the horses are centered and facing horizontally with very few vertical lines. The majority of the painting is smooth flowing without jagged, sharp or straight lines. In Pity there is darkness surrounding the characters, forcing the figures to stand out with great measure in the light. The colors in the background do not convey meaning to the picture. The background is dark and solemn, resembling blank space. The figures in Pity seem to carry the meaning, as opposed to the background. Whether you are a believer of creationalism, scientology, or evolutionism, somehow we all came about with the perception of the perfect female. Women have always been seen, and portrayed as a sex symbol, and usually the disobedient one. Dating back to B.C and the story of Adam and Eve, Eve was the naked one who bit into the fruit that god told her was forbidden. Why couldn t it have been Adam that caused such scandal, and was the cause for destruction, and crime in the world, and not Eve? From the believed beginning of time, to present day, women have really only progressed a small ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The average American sees as many as 300 500 advertisements per day. Some see as many as 1,200 a day. (Jean Kilbourne, Ed. D.) General media is tied with public relations, and has become a source of entertainment to the public eye. Women are usually seen as eye candy, to attract the male heterosexual audience. Men and woman are usually portrayed in different ways, on national television, and Hollywood films. Men usually play the tough guy, macho man roles, while the women are predominately represented as white, young, glamorous, heterosexual, and less influential then men. (Campbell and Carilli, 2005) Attractive women are usually displayed in both male and female advertisements, and play a double role. Women will think that if they purchase this product, they will resemble the model advertising the product, and the men are tricked to think that if they purchase the product, that they will attract women like the ones advertising the product. This is the sex sells propaganda tactic. Models in the advertisements aren t supposed to look like the average, ordinary people. To sell products, advertisers use computer generation tools, to erase any flaws, to appeal to a consumer. The goals of print media are usually reached, and out to target the younger audience.
