Growth Implications of Managerial Finance in Business: Empirical Evidence fro...Premier Publishers
The effective management of business finance is critically dependent on the proper understanding of the interrelationships between different dimensions of financial management and growth performance of the business. This study examines the relationship between selected managerial finance functions and growth of business in Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria using Pearson’s Product Moment Correlation model. The results show that all the managerial functions selected for the study are positively correlated with growth, but with varying levels of significance. The implication of the results is that, given the diversity and specialized nature of managerial finance, every dimension of management relating to financial resources should be taken seriously to ensure long-term sustainable growth of business.
The debate over excellence, reputation, CSR and their impact on performance rages in the academic and professional communities.
Professionals responsible for intangible assets and those in charge of finance are a good reflection of this dual reality that frequently makes Board members and Management Committees take difficult decisions that don’t benefit both parts the same way.
In 2013, a research was held in Japan in order to shed light to explain the mechanisms that affect financial performance and, more specifically, identify which of these mechanisms are related to corporate reputation. It concluded that corporate value is constituted by four factors: organizational value, social value, business value and commercial value. Eventually, those companies that pay more attention to organizational and social value achieve greater commercial and business value.
This document analyzes the factors that constitute those values and the steps needed to improve reputation. It also explains relations between different factors of corporate reputation and financial performance in mathematical terms.
Innovation is the factor that truly relates corporate reputation to business success. The factors that improve both economic results and reputation are the ability to lure resources and expand internationally. That’s why companies need to bring best talent and state-of-the-art technologies on board.
In this document, it is explained the case of ING Direct in Australia to show the contribution of corporate reputation to financial results.
By using Net Promoter Score (NPS) (an index developed by U.S.-based Professor Reichheld which stands for a positive or negative correlation between the number of promoters and the number of detractors), ING Direct was able to measure the impact of its brand strategy on the Australian market. The company achieved a high recommendation level reflected in the exponential growth of deposits, funds and assets.
Good economic results impact reputation and sustain it over time. However, as in the example of ING Direct and many other companies, a good reputation is able to improve financial results as well as the competitive and economic position.
This document discusses a study analyzing the influence of debt to equity ratio, inventory turnover, and current ratio on return on equity for pharmaceutical companies listed on the Indonesia stock exchange. It provides background on each variable and discusses relevant literature. The study uses a sample of 8 companies and analyzes the variables using multiple linear regression. The results found that debt to equity ratio did not significantly influence return on equity individually, but inventory turnover and current ratio did significantly influence it individually. Together, the three variables were found to significantly influence return on equity.

Determinants of corporate profitability in developing economiesAlexander Decker
This document analyzes the determinants of corporate profitability in developing economies, specifically Nigeria. A study was conducted using data from 40 randomly selected companies over 5 years. The study found positive relationships between firm size and financial leverage with corporate profitability. Capital structure and cash liquidity were found to have negative relationships with corporate profitability. The study recommended using different profitability indices and including additional variables to improve the model.
The document discusses the impact of additional regulations on corporate collapses. It analyzes the advantages and disadvantages of introducing new regulations in response to corporate scandals. While additional regulations may increase accountability and prevent misconduct initially, they also motivate people to find ways around the laws, potentially resulting in more corporate failures. The best solution is a balanced approach combining necessary rules and guiding principles, focusing on ethics over just regulations. Introducing regulations without considering context or consequences is not an effective response.
This document summarizes a study analyzing the financing patterns of 300 Indian private sector companies over 1999-2008. It finds that companies on average obtain 60.54% of total funds from internal sources and 39.46% from external sources. The average debt-equity ratio was 1.12, with small companies relying more on debt than large companies. Manufacturing companies had significantly higher debt-equity ratios than service sector companies. Overall, the study concludes that while Indian companies prefer internal funds to external ones, their debt-dominated capital structures expose them to high total risk.
This study examined the impact of stock mispricing on corporate investment decisions of non-financial firms listed on the Pakistan Stock Exchange from 2008-2014. It found that both overvalued and undervalued stocks affected investment decisions, and that investment sensitivity was higher for financially constrained firms that rely more on equity financing. The findings provide implications for promoting investment in Pakistan by increasing awareness of behavioral biases that can lead to mispricing and less efficient markets.
The aim is to determine the short-term profitability of IPOs and to surrounding the evolution of this profitability on the middle/long run. Therefore, we used the raw initial returns and the adjusted initial returns methods to assess the short-term performance. We determined the long-term performance through the cumulative abnormal returns and the buy-and-hold abnormal returns, abnormal returns being adjusted to the market index and to the market model.

A non parametric analysis is performed in the banking industry in the Philippines. This study is of interest from several points of view. First, it is of use for those who are interested in understanding how Philippine banks performed prior and throughout the global financial crisis. The study will point to which banking models handled the financial crisis well. Secondly, this would be of interest for those who are interested in comparing and contrasting the performance of different types of banking models in the Asia Pacific. As more local banks consider expanding overseas, there are various options in terms of banking models to consider, branch to the subsidiary, commercial to universal, each with its strict regulatory guidelines. For a developing economy, such as the Philippines, we aim to show the impact of different models based on traditionally used inputs of measuring banking performance, and applying it to our non parametric model. The study‘s conclusions point to the universal banking model is the most consistently efficient models of banking in the Philippines.
Capital structure determinants evidence from banking sector of pakistanAlexander Decker
This study examines the determinants of capital structure for banking firms in Pakistan using panel data analysis. The key determinants identified based on prior literature include firm size, profitability, gross domestic product, and tangible fixed assets. The study uses panel data models like least squares dummy variable, fixed effects, random effects, and pooled regression to analyze the relationships. Preliminary results provide support for theories like the pecking order theory, and find size and profitability to be negatively correlated with leverage. The results also have implications for managers in determining optimal capital structure levels.
In this paper, we used financial statements as the main information to calculate the enterprise
value by discounted cash flow model. For the prediction of future cash flows in DCF model, a new method
based on the Markov chain is proposed to get the growth rates of future cash flows, instead of the fixed growth
rate method. The superior performance of it can be illustrated in empirical analysis. And the result shows that
we can improve the accuracy of the enterprise value evaluation with partial information by using the Markov

The relationship between free cash flows and agency costs levels evidence fro...Alexander Decker
This document summarizes previous research on the relationship between free cash flows and agency costs. It discusses how high levels of free cash flow can lead to agency problems as managers may invest in negative NPV projects. Previous studies found support for Jensen's free cash flow theory and showed that mechanisms like debt and dividends can help control agency costs by reducing excess cash under managers' discretion. The purpose of the current study is to examine how Iranian firms use dividends and leverage to address agency problems from free cash flows.
This document analyzes the effect of financial performance on stock prices of raw material producing companies listed on the Indonesian Stock Exchange from 2009-2013. It finds that variables like current ratio, debt to equity ratio, return on assets, and total asset turnover have a simultaneous significant effect on stock prices. However, in partial tests only total asset turnover is found to have an individually significant impact, while the other variables do not. The study uses multiple linear regression analysis on financial data from 7 sample companies to analyze the relationships between these financial metrics and stock price movements.
The document discusses a study examining factors that influence CEO salaries. It reviews literature finding positive correlations between firm performance, size, and CEO compensation. The study analyzes salaries and characteristics of 70 Fortune 500 CEOs using regression analysis. Sixteen independent variables are considered, including CEO attributes, firm financials, and market data. Preliminary results found profit margin had the strongest positive impact on salary, while age and long-term debt also positively impacted salary. Further analysis is needed to better predict CEO pay.

Introduction to AI for Nonprofits with Tapp NetworkTechSoup
Dive into the world of AI! Experts Jon Hill and Tareq Monaur will guide you through AI's role in enhancing nonprofit websites and basic marketing strategies, making it easy to understand and apply.
A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
