Culture is often used to explain why organizations differ in terms of success, employee’s loyalty, and even public perception. This paper will explore the organizational culture of Apple Inc on three levels- artifacts, values, and assumptions. This approach to understanding organizational culture is useful because it allows for an in-depth look at issues within an organization.
Artifacts
Artifacts are visible components of an organization's culture although members can interpret them very differently. Rituals and ceremonies are the easiest artifacts to spot within any given company. At Apple Inc, there are numerous rituals that past and current employees associate strongly with the consumer electronics industry. For instance, new employees have to go through an orientation process to ensure they understand what being a member of the organization entails. The company's CEOs are also known for keeping in contact with employees at the operational level. The contact is supposed to motivate employees and to ensure they understand the CEO's vision for the company. Other common ceremonies at the company include staff parties to celebrate both big and large goals that have been accomplished. The ceremonies make the company a desirable and a fun place to work, while employees are also allowed to dress down on certain days of the week (Ahmad, 2012).

The leaders in most global organizations have to deal with growing complexities in the industry and the market, uncertainties, workplace diversity, and highly volatile markets. The changes taking place in the market may affect the performance of their businesses as well as their competitiveness in the global market. As the business conditions continue to change rapidly, the leaders should be in a position to adjust accordingly and match this pace as a way of maintaining the performance of the organizations. As a global and creative organization, a firm should be able to nurture and develop such creative leaders who are capable of navigating the complexity of the market and maintain the firm's competitive advantage. As such, a leader of a creative organization should be in a position to establish the right direction, pace, and a meaningful work environment that supports the growth of individuals and the entire organization (Anderson et al, 2015). The leader should be able to facilitate the engagement of all the stakeholders and ensure that they assume responsibility in as much as they are held accountable for the performance of the firm. Also, one should lead effectively through maintenance of relationships, systems, and processes that facilitate the execution, focus, attainment, and maintenance of the desired results. This essay explores Apple Inc., as a creative organization that has been able to attain considerable success in the global market through effective and creative leadership strategies.

The company under observation is Apple that deals in the creation of laptops and smartphone technology in the US, their mission statement is “Apple designs Macs, the best personal computers in the world, along with OS X, iLife, iWork and professional software. Apple leads the digital music revolution with its iPods and iTunes online store. Apple has reinvented the mobile phone with its revolutionary iPhone and App Store, and is defining the future of mobile media and computing devices with iPad." This is to mainly show that as a company Apple has a commitment to ensuring that its customers that include students, teachers and program creators globally enjoy the best computing experience through their efficient and effective software and hardware. Their vision statement is “We believe that we are on the face of the earth to make great products and that’s not changing. We are constantly focusing on innovating. We believe in the simple, not the complex. We believe that we need to own and control the primary technologies behind the products that we make and participate only in markets where we can make a significant contribution. We believe in saying no to thousands of projects so that we can really focus on the few that are truly important and meaningful to us. We believe in deep collaboration and cross-pollination of our groups, which allow us to innovate in a way that others cannot. And frankly, we don’t settle for anything less than excellence in every group in the company, and we have the self- honesty to admit when we’re wrong and the courage to change. And I think regardless of who is in what job those values are so embedded in this company that Apple will do extremely well.” This is mainly to indicate the company believes in their capacity to withstand in the long run, through continued success and expansion.
The strategy applied by Apple has focused on differentiation of their products despite continual production on a yearly basis it is the same technology with minimal changes in software and design of the appearance. In this aspect, the iPhone can clearly be used as an example on a yearly basis a new design is released with some changes in the physical appearance yet minimal software differences. As per 2015, the shares of Apple sold made about $233,715, the dividends paid were about $11.4billion at about $0.57 per share. In 2016 there was about $ 213, 000 purchase in shares that resulted in dividends of about $12 billion being paid out by the company.2017 resulted in about $15billion in returns to investors in form of dividends, with an overall $25 billion revenue generated by the company. This indicates an increasing trend from the three years indicated continuously.
The key staff working in Apple are based in the marketing and technical positions, with the company dealing in manufacture of electronic devices there arises need for qualified staff to deal wit.

This learning paper describes a pilot project in north-west Cambodia that used positive deviance as a method of behaviour change communication for malaria control. Positive deviance is a behaviour and social change approach that helps identify existing model behaviours within a community that can be shared and amplified by the rest of the community. The project discussed in this learning paper focused on mobile and migrant workers and resident communities in three villages in Simpov Loun, north-west Cambodia.
The positive deviance project involved selecting role models from within the community who practised uncommon but positive behaviour with regards to malaria prevention and control. These role models then worked within the community to show other individuals and families how they could act in similar ways, in order to improve malaria prevention and enhance malaria treatment.
The paper looks closely at what this project involved, discusses what worked well, what lessons were learned and the challenges met during the period it was running. A range of recommendations, covering many different aspects of positive deviance and malaria, has come out of this project and are provided for future malaria control work using positive deviance.

Today we will review the company’s current organizational structure and its effectiveness and ineffectiveness in the structure. We will also review possible changes that would benefit the company to make to its current structure more effective in the current competitive market for its leadership team.
Current Organizational Structure
Since the days of Steve Jobs; the company has gone through some changes to its organizational structure. When Steve Jobs was running his company, he made every decision; but now the company uses a more collective approach with its company. The company is using a modern structural approach to its managing and leadership style by putting teams in control of what happens.
The current mission statement is “"Apple designs Macs, the best personal computers in the world, along with OS X, ILife, iWork and professional software. Apple leads the digital music revolution with its iPods and iTunes online store. Apple has reinvented the mobile phone with its revolutionary iPhone and App Store, and has recently introduced iPad 2 which is defining the future of mobile media and computing devices.” (Farfan, 2016). This is a mix of both a mission statement and a vision of what the company wants to see.
By using an approach of a modern structure of having the company ran by the departments and employees versus by a company leader such as the CEO, the company feels that they can accomplish their goals and ideas with the least amount of buy-in needed from the Board of directors or CEO. The teams and departments can set their own guidelines of how quickly their projects will run which in turn leads to having products and services available more quickly to consumers for purchase. The employees are more productive in this type of environment for the company because they are also able to focus solely on their job functions while not have to worry about other departments.

An organization's culture is what normally sets it apart from other companies in the industry that could be offering similar services. Scholars have described organizational culture as the behavior of people within a particular organization, including their norms, beliefs, language, and habits as well. Culture is often used to explain why organizations differ in terms of success, employee’s loyalty, and even public perception. This paper will explore the organizational culture of Apple Inc on three levels- artifacts, values, and assumptions. This approach to understanding organizational culture is useful because it allows for an in-depth look at issues within an organization.
Artifacts
Artifacts are visible components of an organization's culture although members can interpret them very differently. Rituals and ceremonies are the easiest artifacts to spot within any given company. At Apple Inc, there are numerous rituals that past and current employees associate strongly with the consumer electronics industry. For instance, new employees have to go through an orientation process to ensure they understand what being a member of the organization entails. The company's CEOs are also known for keeping in contact with employees at the operational level. The contact is supposed to motivate employees and to ensure they understand the CEO's vision for the company. Other common ceremonies at the company include staff parties to celebrate both big and large goals that have been accomplished. The ceremonies make the company a desirable and a fun place to work, while employees are also allowed to dress down on certain days of the week (Ahmad, 2012).
Another element of Apple's culture is slogans and symbols that only members of the company can decipher correctly. For instance, Apple has the phrase 'who's in charge' amongst its staff. The phrase means that for each activity, there must be a person that is responsible to ensure that it is completed successfully (Ahmad, 2012). Responsibility avoidance is highly discouraged and even lower level employees are held responsible totally for their assignments. This element of culture is a source of motivation because people feel that they are contributing directly to the success of the company. The company's logo is a very important in shaping the culture of the company. It represents the fact the company is a leader in the computer and phone manufacturing industry.
The final artifact in the company is stories told about the company's past. Stories are supposed to highlight the key moments in the company's journey to success. By telling such stories, employees are expected to learn the attributes that leaders showed at those key moments and practices them. The leaders in most global organizations have to deal with growing complexities in the industry and the market, uncertainties, workplace diversity, and highly volatile markets. The company under observation is Apple that deals in the creation of laptops and smartphone technology in the US, their mission statement is “Apple designs Macs, the best personal computers in the world, along with OS X, iLife, iWork and professional software. Apple leads the digital music revolution with its iPods and iTunes online store. Apple has reinvented the mobile phone with its revolutionary iPhone and App Store, and is defining the future of mobile media and computing devices with iPad." This is to mainly show that as a company Apple has a commitment to ensuring that its customers that include students, teachers and program creators globally enjoy the best computing experience through their efficient and effective software and hardware. Their vision statement is “We believe that we are on the face of the earth to make great products and that’s not changing. We are constantly focusing on innovating. We believe in the simple, not the complex. We believe that we need to own and control the primary technologies behind the products that we make and participate only in markets where we can make a significant contribution. We believe in saying no to thousands of projects so that we can really focus on the few that are truly important and meaningful to us. We believe in deep collaboration and cross-pollination of our groups, which allow us to innovate in a way that others cannot. And frankly, we don’t settle for anything less than excellence in every group in the company, and we have the self- honesty to admit when we’re wrong and the courage to change. And I think regardless of who is in what job those values are so embedded in this company that Apple will do extremely well.” This is mainly to indicate the company believes in their capacity to withstand in the long run, through continued success and expansion.
The strategy applied by Apple has focused on differentiation of their products despite continual production on a yearly basis it is the same technology with minimal changes in software and design of the appearance. In this aspect, the iPhone can clearly be used as an example on a yearly basis a new design is released with some changes in the physical appearance yet minimal software differences. As per 2015, the shares of Apple sold made about $233,715, the dividends paid were about $11.4billion at about $0.57 per share. In 2016 there was about $ 213, 000 purchase in shares that resulted in dividends of about $12 billion being paid out by the company.2017 resulted in about $15billion in returns to investors in form of dividends, with an overall $25 billion revenue generated by the company. This indicates an increasing trend from the three years indicated continuously.

Finding and gathering organization possibilities is an activity for companies especially for firms like Apple Inc. In order to establish business strategic planning, managers are supposed to analyze cases that present organizations competitive benefits which distinguishes them from their rivals in the market. Apple is a huge firm which promotes creativity and brand value. Apple strictly focuses on ways to establish themselves as next generation technology leaders. We have many new and same products upcoming into the market which creates challenge for Apple to emphasize their vision. But still Apple succeeds growing in this inflated market and ensures that the growth rate is carried at a descent pace that doesn’t create problems for their brand identity or to their potential revenue growth. Generic Strategy
Apple stands in the world market for its creativity and innovation. The company successfully establishes market leadership by practicing generic strategy. Apple implemented the generic strategy for three places that comprises Low-cost leadership, Differentiation, and Focus. Concentrating on Low-cost Leadership, Apple has the advantage of controlling its huge and accepted supply chain to output the products at an affordable price. The prices for Apple products are at a high rate for increase in demands. So producing mass products like Phone and iPod, the firm establishes effective contract with the suppliers. This helps the company to provide a great quality product compared to the rivals. The iPod is the first key implementation by Apple that captured market shares from Sony which is known for its walkman. It experienced an evolution which came into action by the digital technology that segregated the iPod from various other goods in the market. Finally providing focus to enhanced planning, Apple was able concentrated on its products and introduced the iPod that targeted a huge number of people. In spite of the product being costly, the reduced size and the capability to accompany more songs established a belief amongst youth and the rest of the population. (John Kirk, 2013).
Value Discipline
One of the greatest concentrations of Apple is to ensure that their customers purchase value and the company utilizes it for promoting success. Apple was aware of the fact that few customers experienced value along with cost, services and goods. By this practice Apple links with Value Discipline as the top overall cost provider. The company succeeded in giving customers products with reduced cost and increase sales. Management was considered the key members to practice the Value Discipline and helping their customers and enhancing.
