Bulbul Influence On American Culture
Its legends about the religion, having been brought from the sub–continent run similar to those in Sri
Lanka, although the latter is said to have no existing record about the religious origin.
The influences of many countries on the country's culture are evident in its dance forms and music
and instruments that make this music. Bulbul has remained a favorite musical instrument. It is a kind
of horizontal according usually accompanying devotional or religious songs such as maulud and
maadhaha. ("Maldives Music : The Maldives")
According to ("A Brief History Of Maldives") The bodu beru, which means "big drum," consists of
songs and dances by the common people, which are now part of entertainment in stage shows,
festivals and national celebrations.

Technology And Physics Behind The Compact Disc
Good morning students and teachers, today I will be talking to you about the technology and physics
behind the Compact disc otherwise known as the CD
Everybody knows that the CD is slowly fading out and being replaced by a digital world where files
and streams are the main methods of music delivery. But the CD is not yet done.
What is a CD? A CD is a thin circular disc comprised of metal and plastic, the CD is about 12cm in
diameter and is usually made up of 3 layers, it is capable of storing up to 74 minutes of audio but
usually only has 50 minutes stored on it to make sure it is at optimal function, the digital data that
can be stored on a CD is; 44 100 samples per second, therefore, you can store 682 MB on a CD that
is capable of 74 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lacquer is used rather than the polycarbonate due to the positioning of the metal film.
The metal layer of the CD is the layer that contains the data. CD data is represented as tiny
indentations known as "pits", these pits are encoded in a spiral track that if unrolled from it spiral
would be around 5.5 km long, the spiral is moulded into the top of the polycarbonate layer, these are
microscopic and usually expressed in the measurement of a micron µm which is 1 millionth of a
meter. The areas between pits are known as "lands". The pits are even smaller than the lands and are
approximately 100 nm deep by 500 µm wide, and vary from 850 µm to 3.5 µm in length. The
measurement of the pit represents the binary information of the data stored on the disc.
The optical system employs a highly coherent light source and the pits are made approximately a
quarter wavelength deep. The readout beam axis is nominally aligned to be perpendicular to the disc
plane. When there are no pit–land edges in the spot, all of the reflected beam will share the same
phase. The phase of the reflected beam will, however, change by 180 degrees when the spot moves
from pit to land or vice versa. When the optical spot traverses a pit–land edge the magnitude of the
beam reflected back into the sensor will momentarily drop almost to zero...The reflected beam then
consists of two portions, equal in magnitude but opposite in phase.

Introduction
One of the utmost gratifying aspects of collecting vinyl is building an extensive collection of records
from distinct era's and decades. As you read through the history of vinyl you will be presented with
insight magnifying your ability to identify and understand information with regards to vinyl
pressings from as early as the 1900s. This chapter not only riffles through a variety of record facts
that will bring the newbie record collector up to speed, but also contains intriguing knowledge and
stories even the fanatical record collectors are expectedly unaware of. You will undoubtedly at some
point put this book down and head online or out to the record shop to locate obscure and noteworthy
finds.

In the 1988 McDonald's held a Flexi Disc contest that gave 1 lucky winner a million dollars!
Chances of winning were only 1 in 80,000,000 but this campaign drew momentary attention. Flexi–
discs were also common additions to cereal boxes. Kids could cut out an Archie Comic on the back
of their Super Sugar Crisps or a Kiss Flexi with their "Kiss Krunch" cereal. Regardless of the fact
that Flexi–Disc releases can be designed for fun and creative purposes, they are easily worn out,
warp and bend and are therefore were not in reality favored.
Unusual, Obscure and Creative Records Over the years, an abundance of obscure and unique
records have been pressed using strange color combinations and unexpected materials. Here are a
few memorable pressings.
X–ray Records
During the 1950s in the Soviet Union x–rays were brought about to duplicate banned music. Using
X–rays discarded from hospitals, a bootlegger would cut them into circles, create a hole in the center
by burning the x–ray with a cigarette, and imprint music onto them. X–ray records are an item that
is hunted for and collected by particular vinyl

Terracotta Warriors Analysis
After watching the video Secrets of China's Terracotta Warriors English documentary, I learned that
there was so much history behind the Terracotta warriors. These clay statues were made for the first
emperor Qin Shi Huang funeral as a more humane way to follow ancient Chinese tradition without
killing off your court. Reasons, why they started making Terracotta warriors, is because in ancient
Chinese history when an emperor is having a funeral they would take their court and useful people
with them by making then drink arsenic wine. Crazy enough many people at that time would think
following your emperor to death is an honor. Even though people would follow the emperor
willingly to death it was still viewed as an inhuman thing. Later

Rosin Esters Lab Report
ESTERIFICATION OF ROSIN TO MAKE ESTER GUM
Esterification :– It is a reaction between alcohols and carboxylic acids to produce esters.
The carboxylic acid group of a rosin acid can be converted to an ester through a reaction with
various alcohols. The alcohols typically used to make rosin esters are given below. The molecular
weight and functionality of the alcohol determines the softening point of the subsequent ester.
Glycerol with three reactive sites is the most commonly used alcohols. Methanol with a single
hydroxyl group and tri–ethylene–glycol with two reactive sites are used to produce liquid and low
softening point esters.

Lacquer is a wood polish; it is the chemical added to wood to give it the smooth and shiny
properties. Without it, the wood of a piano would be a lot more difficult to work with, shrinking the
lifespan of the common piano by years if not decades. Without lacquer, the piano and other
hammered string instruments may have never become the influential instruments they are today.
WHAT IS LACQUER EXACTLY? Lacquer is a polymer of many different bases that when coated
on a wooden substance, offers a layer of protection and gloss to a piece of wood. The most common
lacquer used on piano frames is a urushiol–based lacquer. Urushiol is a common allergen found in
many Anacardiaceae plants such as poison ivy. It has a boiling point of
200˚ C (392˚ F) and can dissolve in substances such as alcohol. It is composed of a 6 carbon ring
with 3 double bonds similar to benzene, 2 hydroxyl groups, and an R group. The R group varies
from a large amount of hydrocarbons (such as (CH2)14CH3, (CH2)7CH=CH(CH2)5CH3,
(CH2)7CH=CHCH2CH=CH(CH2)2CH3 and others).

Fatherhood In The Descendants
In the course of the film, King starts off as a solely involved in work, but when King gets word of
Elizabeth's mishap, King recognizes he will have to become a single father to his daughters
Alexandra and Scottie. According to Marquis de Sade, the ideology of fatherhood is, "the notion that
a child is "born of the father's blood" and only incidentally of a mother's body" (Lacquer, 209).
Moreover, fatherhood is not constructed on significant facts, but also on political and social
background therefore, the philosophy of fatherhood is socially constructed. In The Descendants,
King is the biological father of Alexandra and Scottie, which makes King, "responsible for
supporting "his" children" (Lacquer, 213). After watching the film, it is clear to the audience that

her wellbeing. Furthermore, King alongside the doctors, help explain to Scottie what is to happen to
Elizabeth and King nurtures Scottie to support her. Moreover, to the bigger picture, King supports
Alexandra and Scottie by giving them a home to live in, food to eat, and drives them to wherever
they go. Lastly, as a single father, King is expected to set a good example for his children. An
example of King setting a good example for his children is when King and Alexandra go to confront
Speer. Instead of acting out in physical violence, King decides to swear at Speer before going any
further with his intentions. Although this is not what the ideal parent would say in front of their
child, it is nothing that Alexandra has not said herself before as seen earlier in the

The Truth behind Processed Food Essay
What do Americans really know about the different foods they eat? There are two types of foods,
which are processed foods and unprocessed foods. Processed foods are foods that are packaged,
canned, frozen, and put on shelves. Processed foods are unhealthy because they are high in calories,
trans–fat, and saturated fat. Here are several different processed foods that many Americans eat
quite often, sausage, hot dogs, ham, boxed cakes, bread, milk, and cheeses. Non–processed foods
are fresh and natural foods. Non– Processed foods are foods that have not been altered. Examples of
Non–Processed foods are fruit, vegetables, and nuts. Some processed food come from farm animals,

A common chemical used in food packaging called bisphenol A (BPA), is found to have some health
risks. Jose Antonio Brotons, Maria Fatima Olea–Serrano, Mercedes Villalobos, Vicente Pedraza, and
Nicolas Olea show in their article that foods that are in lacquer coated cans may have estrogenic
activity.
The plastic monomer bisphenol–A, identified by mass spectrometry, was found as a contaminant not
only in the liquid of the preserved vegetables but also in water autoclaved in the cans. The amount
of bisphenol–A in the extracts accounted for all the hormonal activity measured. Although the
presence of other xenoestrogens cannot be ruled out, it is apparent that all estrogenic activity in
these cans was due to bisphenol–A leached from the lacquer coating. (1).
Clearly, bisphenol–A is a chemical that people or animals should consume. The Food and Drug
Administration (FDA) has shown concern about possible effects of BPA on humans. The possible
effects can harm very young children, fetuses, the brain, behavior, and hormones. The impact of
certain estrogenic xenobiotics on the reproductive system development and health of animals has
been clearly documented. Findings, such as ours demonstrate thathumans are also exposed at risk.
As data accumulate regarding to infertility, genital tract malformations and increasing cancer rates in
estrogen target tissues (especially the breast),

Lacquer Table History 'By Yo K' O
It might be surprising to learn that parachuting may have begun prior to 90 B.C. in China. China's
renowned historian, Suma Ch'ien studied ancient texts, which told the story of Emperor Shun whose
father was trying to kill him. He fled into a granary tower, which his father set ablaze. The Emperor
tied several large conical straw hats together and jumped out of the tower, the hats serving as a
parachute, and landed safely on the ground. A book published in 1214 entitled "Lacquer Table
History" by Yo K'o relates an episode that occurred in Canton in the 1100's, when an Arab stole one
leg of a golden lacquered table. He escaped by climbing to the top of a mosque's very tall minaret
and jumped, holding onto two umbrellas without handles. He reached the ground without injury.
(The Chinese also invented the first umbrellas.) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because of their feats, the first European construction of a parachute–like device was made during
the reign of King Louis XIV of France in the 1680's. It was Joseph Montgolfier of France, who in
the late 18th century, first gave significant meaning to the modern use of the parachute by testing his
device while jumping out of a hot air balloon. His success led to a plethora of balloonist stunt
jumpers using parachutes. With the high incidence of hot air balloon accidents that were occurring at
the time, the parachute gained impetus as a mechanism to save lives. Famous balloonist Jean Pierre
Blanchard, the first person to cross over the English Channel in one, used the parachute to make

Eileen Gray: Le Corbusier Or Frank Lloyd Wright
Eileen Gray
When one talks or thinks of architecture, or the architects, there is a great gender gap, and due to
these gaps, some women do not acquire the acknowledgement that is rightfully theirs. As one of the
finest architects, designers, and artist of the 20th century, Eileen Gray was and still has not been
given any attention as a serious designer/architect, unlike her counter parts, Le Corbusier, De Stijl,
Mies van der Rohe, or Frank Lloyd Wright.
Eileen Gray spent most of her designing life in France and was influenced greatly by a veriety of
designers and architects. She found her self indulged in the art of Toulouse–Lautrec, Cezanne, Van
Gogh, Gaughin, Seurat, and Bonnaard. Eileen Gray admired Le Corbusier's Five Points ... Show

Further more, Eileen Gray proposed four problems that the great architects of the time, like Le
Corbusier, Frank Lloyd Wright, and Mies van der Rohe all thought about, but did not incorporate
them into there work. Eileen proposed the problem of the windows. There were three types that the
three had come up with, but all of them were similar, unlike hers. The problem of shutters, they
never used any. The problem of independence and privacy. They all believed in free flowing open
spaces, but Eileen incorporated room, that were private and independent, and gave the plan a free
open space. The final problem that came into play was the idea of an open access kitchen, but with
out the odour spreading into the house. All these problems were looked at closely when Eileen Gray
built the E–1027 house. The problems also made the other architects to think and plan their
buildings and incorporate these ideas.
As well, Eileen Gary, through out her education, was the experimenting type, trying and
investigating surfaces and materials. She worked with lacquer, rugs and designed furniture using
materials that would normally be used for construction. She investigated the limits of the vertical,
two dimensional, surfaces using lacquer. In her work she folded both representational and abstract
geometrical patterns into the surface and frequently juxtaposing them on opposite sides of the same
screen. Her ideas

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Lacquer
Lacquer is the most mineralized tissue of the body, framing a hard, thin, translucent layer of
calcified tissue that covers the whole anatomic crown of the tooth. It can shift in thickness and
hardness on every tooth, from tooth to tooth and from individual to individual. It can likewise
fluctuate in shading (ordinarily from yellowish to grayish white) contingent upon varieties in the
thickness, nature of its mineral structure and surface stains. Lacquer has no blood or nerve supply
inside of it. It is veneer's hardness that empowers teeth to withstand obtuse, overwhelming
masticatory powers. Finish is so difficult in light of the fact that it is made essentially out of
inorganic materials: Roughly 95% to 98% of it is calcium and phosphate particles that make up
strong hydroxyapatite precious stones. Yet, these are not unadulterated gems, in light of the fact that
they are carbonated and contain follow minerals, for example, strontium, magnesium, lead, and
fluoride. These components make "natural hydroxyapatite" more solvent than unadulterated
hydroxyapatite. Around 1% to 2% of finish is comprised of natural materials, especially lacquer
particular proteins called enamelins, which have a high proclivity for tying hydroxyapatite precious
stones. Water ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Jewellery Box Essay
PARTS OF A WHOLE HISTORY
Jewellery has been around since the stone age, after the Neanderthals had gained the knowledge of
cutting and molding, accordingly the origin of jewellery box can be traced for over the centuries,
however the exact reference to the first ever made jewellery box is not easily available. Throughout
history a jewellery box was at times considered as a casket and also treated as miniature treasure
chests. People would typically craft them from the high quality and exceptional materials. They
were once regarded as a symbol of wealth and luxury and hence were originally designed for royalty
and priests, who could afford to own valuables and were designed by local craftsmen and artisans.
Keeping jewellery safe and in a good condition is the primary motive of a jewellery box. Initially
they made trinket boxes which were smaller in size as compared to a multicompartmental jewellery
box. Some had myriad compartments, drawers, trays, and velvet slots for rings which were made in
different sizes. Besides jewellery boxes, manufacturing snuff and tea box was a common
phenomenon, however the origin of boxes with or without lids in general is also not specified we
can only trace it after the rise of trade and commerce where the very first jewellery box might have
been a ceramic jar which was a typical material to carry goods in ancient

understanding medieval Japan because it changed historians' beliefs on medieval Japan through the
many artifacts and remains it has left. These include pottery, coinage and a collection of wooden
objects.
In 1928, a large amount of pottery, coins, imported goods, tools and other artifacts were discovered

Historians and Archaeologists discovered many pottery that can be traced back to distant villages in

As I left, I felt a sense of piety, a piety that I must visit again and again. The Hall of Buddhas gave

The next corridor was an exhibit of ceramics of everyday life in the Neolithic period of the
Majlayao culture (Machong phase, CA 2300–2000BC Metropolitan Museum plaque). The pottery of
this period expresses similarities in the color and shapes to the art found amongst the indigenous
cultures elsewhere in the world. On the side was another room with two guardian lions (6th dynasty
220–589). Lion statues were status symbols for great dwellings that were placed outside of main
entranceways to promote good and to stop evil from entering in (Feng Shui, Lam 38). In the room at
the Museum they guard lacquer images and woodcarvings of Buddhas. Buddha images executed in
dry lacquer were highly valued by the Chinese because of the costly time–consuming process
required to produce them (Metropolitan Museum wall–plaque). Possibly the lions do serve a
purpose here: to prevent any evil beings from entering a room filled with prized lacquer Buddhas.
The Han dynasty (25–220 CE) exhibit outside in the corridor demonstrated remarkable uniformity.
Common pottery such as models of houses and farm structures, were created as funerary objects for
burials. The Han period has deeply shaped and cast its roots in contemporary burial rituals. Today,

Toilet Seat Dermatitis Essay
A CASE REPORT OF TOILET SEAT DERMATITIS
ABSTRACT:
Toilet seat dermatitis is a contact dermatitis involving the posterior thighs and the gluteal region
resulting from contact with toilet seats. It was commonly seen with wooden toilet seats. It is more
frequently seen on usage of public toilets where harsher cleansers are used. Here we describe a case
of pruritic symmentric erythematous eruption over the posterior thighs and the lower gluteal area in
a 5 year old atopic boy.
Key words: Toilet seat dermatitis, contact dermatitis, irritant dermatitis.
INTRODUCTION:
Toilet seat dermatitis was first described in in 1927 by Mackee who stated that it was a form of
contact dermatitis occurring on the gluteal area and thighs coming in contact with the ... Show more

Detergents were used to clean the toilet seats regularly. No toilet seat cover was used.
On examination erythematous scaly excoriated papules were seen over the posterior thighs and the
lower gluteal area. These are the areas which come in contact with the toilet seat. No lesions were
seen elsewhere. Systemic examination was normal.
A diagnosis of toilet seat dermatitis was made and the child was treated with topical corticosteroids,
emollients and antihistamines. The mother was advised to avoid harsh cleansers, to clean the toilet
bowl and seat every day and to use toilet seat covers or newspapers to avoid direct contact of the
toilet seat with the skin. The lesions resolved completely in two weeks. Figure 1: Erythematous
papules and plaques seen over the lower buttocks and posterior thighs.
DISCUSSION:
Toilet seat dermatitis can be an allergic or irritant contact dermatitis. Previously when wooden toilet
seats were used, allergic contact dermatitis was seen to the varnishes, lacquers [2] or Sudan stain [5]
present in the wooden toilet seats. Polyurethane toilet seats have also been reported to cause allergic
contact toilet seat dermatitis due to reaction of isocyanates

Overspray Research Paper
An ideal facility for painting is a clean, well lit, temperature controlled paint shop, however if one is
not available and you must create your own painting location, you do not want to paint: Outside in
fog or high humidity Outside in direct sunlight In the wind In a dusty place In a rented or borrowed
spray booth where you can't take your time Also, keep in mind that certain locations require the user
of solvent based paints to filter overspray and have a method of collecting waste. The four basic
methods of applying paints are: (1) Airless spraying (2) Electrostatic spraying (3) Conventional
pressure fed gun (4) High–Volume, Low–Pressure (HVLP) systems Airless sprayers force paint
through a small opening at high pressures. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The pressures are so high that the paint is atomized and can be applied to the surface. The major
disadvantage of this system is that the paint particles are traveling so fast when they reach the
surface, many will actually bounce off and gather in the air. This is called overspray. HVLP systems
were designed to address overspray. A HVLP system is, in essence, a modified pressure fed system.
A HVLP spray gun gathers the air inside the gun and send it downstream with as little pressure drop
as possible. Two types of HVLP spray systems are available: a conversion spray gun and a turbine
system. A conversion spray gun uses high pressure air, but drops the pressure before it goes into the
gun. This type of system requires a high capacity air compressor with moisture traps. A turbine
system simply supplies a large amount of air (via turbine) to the gun; high pressure is not necessary.
The turbine is typically powered by a high–speed electric motor. The heat from the turbine
eliminates up to 95% of the moisture in the air. This type of system is sold with a turbine, hose, and
spray gun. Most of the cost is from the spray gun and not the turbine due to the machining

influenced by the technological and economic advances of the decade. The name is short for Art
Decoratifs, which refers to the Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels
Modernes, held in Paris in 1925, where the style was first exhibited. The exposition was one of the
world fairs commonly held at the time, showcasing French goods and high fashions to the world.
Unfortunately, such lavish and widespread fairs became increasingly uncommon after the event of
World War I, and after advances in technology created devices such as the radio and, eventually,
television, the world fairs ended. When people could remain up to date on technological and artistic
advances from the comforts of their own homes, the world fairs became unnecessary. Examples of
art deco were exhibited at the Exposition Internationale, which allowed the art style to grow in
popularity and spread throughout western Europe. It eventually spread to the United States in 1928,
where it would remain popular well into the 1930's and 40's, waning only at the beginning of World
War II.
Most of the characteristic features of the art deco style were influenced by the new technology and
wealth of the era. The appreciation for machines, man–made materials, and the wealth and leisure
they brought, could be

Jacob Van Loon
This is "The Wilderness– Explosions in the Sky" by Jacob van Loon
I particularly like this art piece because it is complex, contrasting, and portrays certain moods and
images.
To start, this painting was made by drawing many overlapping straight lines, and painting over it
with a lacquer, then he repeated this step several more times. He then filled each shape with blue or
orange watercolor paint. You can see where the paint leaks out in some places, this provides a
balanced ratio of geometric and abstract shapes. The blending also softens the contrast between the
two colors.
I've concluded that the painting makes me think of an "apocalypse now" scenario. Its looks similar
to an office building with the sky reflecting off glass panes.

Architecture And Design: Eileen Gray's Approach To Design
In this essay the architect and or designer I will be writing about is Eileen Gray. The main aspects
that will be discussed are her approach to design and her philosophies related to it, how she uses
form, ornamentation, structure and materials in regards to her furniture and architectural designs.
Also considered will be how she uses spacial organisation within her buildings, the use of light and
the minimalistic style she so favoured for her buildings designs. The following designs will be
mentioned briefly, discussed in detail and analysed in this essay: the bibendum chair, the Lotus
Table, apartment E–1027, the E–1027 table and Tempe à Pailla.

This is also true of her own home, Tempe à Pailla, which was another of her designs that became a
major symbol of modernist architecture. She designed her home around her living and working
needs, an example of form follows function, with multi–functional furniture to suit any changes in
her life that she felt like or needed to make. She also incorporated unique ways that she could
control the lighting in each room to her personal needs. Gray appreciated her privacy immensely,
although her home featured multiple balconies to take advantage of various views surrounding it,

Examples Of What Your Nails Can Say About Your Health Essay
What Your Nails Can Say About Your Health
What Your Nails Can Say About Your Health
Nails are not just an aesthetic feature of your body, they can tell a lot about your physical health!
When the nails start to grow in a different shape or even change their colour, it usually is a sign that
something might be wrong with your health. American Academy of Dermatology agrees to this,
according to their study – "Nails often reflect our general state of health. Changes in the nail, such
as discoloration or thickening, can signal health problems including liver and kidney diseases, heart
and lung conditions, anemia, and diabetes." In many cases, the changes to your nails can point to
some undiagnosed disease(s).
With this post, you will learn ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They appear when the nail gets lifted from the surface of the skin beneath it (known as nail bed),
after there is an excessive pressure or just any kind of trauma on the nail.
Solution for White Spots On Nails – Practically, there is no solution for white spots on nails as they
fade away or grow out on their own. You just need to be cautious about them and try not to put
excess pressure on the nails! In case the white spots don't go away eventually, you might consider
getting medical help because it can be a fungal nail infection (known as Onychomycosis).
Pitted Nails
Pitted nails i.e. nails with multiple pits or dents are common in people with skin diseases like
psoriasis and eczema.
Solution for Pitted Nails – If you are yet to be diagnosed with any such skin condition, then you
should consider visiting a doctor.
Blue Nails
Lack of oxygen in the blood makes the nails turn blue. Lungs and heart related diseases like Asthma,
COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease), Congestive heart failure, hole in the heart, etc,
also play their part in turning the nails blue as an indication. On the other hand, people who reside in
colder regions may get blue nails often, but it's mainly due to the climate and not due to any serious
health concern.
Solution for Blue Nails – Get checked by a doctor if you are having any respiratory problems along
with the blue nails issue. Wear warm gloves if it's because of the cold climate.

The Spread Of The Silk Road During The Han Dynasty
The Silk Road came to fruition during the Han Dynasty thanks to an interdependent demand of high
end goods in Chinese and Roman markets. Since there was no direct trading route for goods
between these two locales, goods instead traveled through an interconnected network of Chinese and
Central Asian merchants. The route for good would take more than half a year, and the journey was
treacherous. These routes began in the Chinese capital of Chang'an and would then travel northeast
to Lanzhou, where they would then cross into either Yumen or Dunhuang. From there the goods
would cross into the Tarmin basin, and then on to the Kashi. From Kasha the trade route either
continued North (stopping at Tashkent, Samarkand, and Bukhara), or South (stopping

Japanese Samurai Armor
Armor is art, a craft that has been perfected over hundreds of years of warfare and battles. As
strategies and combat techniques change, protection of the samurai must be reevaluated. Although
all armor is functional the status of the soldier determined the type of armor that one could own.
Higher status samurai wore armor that was highly personalized. Armor is terrifying in appearance,
yet it is a symbol of status and prestige. Samurai have a great sense of pride in their metal. When
fully armored they resemble dragons and other fierce creatures. Armor has evolved to keep up with
new strategies in warfare. The Japanese made significant contributions to crafting ... Show more

The arrival of guns in the 16th century changed the way the Japanese design their armor. Armor was
expensive to produce and was very time consuming especially if it was being customized. The need
for weapons, armor, and army members increased, therefore production had to increase and
development techniques had to change. The long military campaigns of that period revealed the
disadvantages of lamella armor. When wet, it became very heavy and dried very slowly. Harsh
seasonal weather conditions and storms exposed the flaws within the armor. It was impossible to
keep the armor clean on campaign and it eventually started to smell bad. Ants, fleas and lice started
settling in. Intricate lacing techniques were easily damaged by swords and other weapons weapons,
and the repair of it was difficult and time

The Loss Of A Loved One
The loss of a loved one can be a difficult thing to bear. In modern culture if a mother loses a son, she
might receive sympathy and comfort while she is grieving. This isn't necessarily the case when it
comes to self–mummification. Mummification is a ritual that not many people have much of a say
in. A person is either mummified by the conditions they die in, or as part of a ceremony after death.
However, what if I said there is a group of select Buddhist monks that were able to complete the
mummification process... themselves? In northern Japan, there have been about a two dozen
Buddhist monks whose bodies have been found mummified. Their deaths date between the 12th and
early 20th centuries, but the practice of self–mummification dates farther back! In the following
paragraphs, I will introduce the origins of this ritual, a detailed description of the practice itself, the
function and significance, as well as several other fascinating points I came across during my
research. The practice of self–mummification surfaced in Northern Japan, around the Yamagata
Prefecture. There have been about 24 known cases in which the mummified body of a Buddhist
monk has been found. The practice of self–mummification is called "Sokushinbutsu". (io9 2014)
These tremendously devoted Buddhists monks accepted the extreme challenge of self–mummifying
themselves through a series of rough measures. The Sokushinbutsu went through a special rite called
"nyūjō", which would turn them into "living

Fluoridation Of Drinking Water Fluoridation Is A Great...
Introduction
AS we are all know public health deals with identifying and preventing the disease among the
community . Public health refers to "the science and art of preventing disease, prolonging life and
promoting health through organized efforts and informed choices of society, organizations, public
and private, communities and individuals." It is concerned with threats to health based on population
health analysis. Some of the events that played a major role in the improvement of public health are
immunization , flouridation of drinking water to prevent dental caries , family planning and so on .
Body
Let us see about the two major events that played a major role in the public health along with the
evolution of science .They are Flouridation of Drinking water and Family planning .
FLUORIDATION OF DRINKING WATER
Fluoridation of group drinking water is a main consideration in charge of the decrease in dental
caries (tooth rot) . The historical backdrop of water fluoridation is a great case of clinical perception
prompting epidemiologic examination and group based general wellbeing intercession. Albeit other
fluoride–containing items are accessible, water fluoridation remains the most fair and practical
strategy for conveying fluoride to all individuals from most groups, paying little respect to age,
instructive achievement, or wage level.

My problem/phenomenon:
Have you ever wondered what would happen if you spilled something onto your recorded audio
Compact Disk (CD) and didn't realized it until several days later? Below is a report on the effects of
long term exposure of certain household chemicals will have on CD's.
Possible hypotheses:
It is my belief that the Sulfuric Acid will be the one to do the most damage to the CD. If there is any
damage done at all.
Experimental Design and Timeline:
I have wondered about what a household chemical will do when exposed to a CD. So I have decided
to conduct an experiment in which I will take 5 pre–recorded audio CD's and divide them into 24
different sections. That will allow me to place 1 drop of each chemical onto each section 1 day for
24 days and record the result. I have decided to do this by trying out several different acids and
solvents that you can find around the house.
The 4 different Acids I plan to use are?
1. Acetic acid found in Vinegar
2. Citric acid found in Lemon Juice
3. Tartaric acid found in Red Wine
4. Sulfuric acid found in Car Battery Acid
At the end of 24 day I plan to take photos of what each CD's look like before I wash them off with
warm soapy water. After

Chihab came to Cairo 20 years after King Musa and people were still talking about King Musa's
trip. King Musa came to Cairo en route to Mecca for his Islamic pilgrimage. While in Cairo, King
Musa gave the people there all of his gold coins. He also borrowed money from the people of Cairo
so he could pay them back at a high interest rate to give them more money. King Musa was "king
emperor" of the Mali Empire in Africa. To acquire such wealth, the Mali economy needed to have
good balance. The Mali Empire was a part of trade, thus meaning a part of interdependence between
regions. So, not only does this story contrast the modern view of Muslims, it also challenges the
West's idea of Africa's economy and the work available there. Many people think that a world
economic system didn't develop until the 1500s CE. People are often focused on the areas and times
of their ancestry, so they only acknowledge the developments during those times. Dr. Janet Abu–
Lughod uses her book Before European Hegemony to refute those views. Contrary to popular belief,
in years before 1500, there was a world economic system already emerging, due to interdependent

Finishing Hardwood Floors
Hardwood floor can be finished using high power sanding machines, although some handwork may
be necessary in places that on which a sanding machine will not fit, or near corners. Before starting
the finishing process, the hardwood surface should be free of dirt and all nails must be carefully
driven so they are not protruding in the floor or the baseboard. Depending on the hardwood flooring
surface, sometimes with two sanding cuts, you will get a nice finish whatsoever, if the floor is
uneven, then three sanding cuts will be needed.
Hardwood Flooring Sanding Machines
There are two main types of sanding machines: drum or disk type. Drum sanders have the sandpaper
mounted on a drum that rotates parallel to the plane of the floor, scratching in straight lines in the
direction of the sanding machine. On the other hand, disk sanders are the ones in which the
sandpaper rotates in a circle in the plane of the floor. There are different tools that will facilitate
sanding hardwood floor near the edges of the floor and next to the baseboard.
Choosing the right sandpaper is a very important thing to do, because coarse grits will scratch the
hardwood leaving some marks that will be noticeable. Fine grits are better when you want to have
the best finishing on a hardwood flooring, although it will require additional work. For better results,
start by using the coarse sandpaper, to level the floor and continue to polish the surface using finer
sandpaper.

"The Courtship of Mr. Lyon" – Angela Carter This short story involves almost an identical plot to
the original Beauty and the Beast. The theme expressed throughout both is that beauty is what's on
the inside, rather than what's on the outside, which is portrayed through the main character, Beauty.
The author used the circumstances of Beauty's father to show that "her sweetness and her gravity"
was transformed into "a lacquer of the invincible prettiness that characterizes certain pampered,
exquisite, expensive cats" by his restored wealth (Carter 143). While the story involves elements of
storytelling just by following the plot of the original tale, it's lacking emotion. The author of this

The Army Of The Undead Essay
The Army of the Undead
In 1974 Chinese farmers in Lintong District, Xi 'an, of the Shaanxi province were digging for a well
when they unearthed fragments of clay figures and made one of the most important discoveries in
art history to date. Archaeologists were notified of the discovery and they began excavating the area
for more clues as to what was buried. The clay army of China's first emperor, Qin Shi Huang, was
found buried in pits near the emperor's underground tomb, over 8,000 warriors dated to
approximately the late third century BCE. The massive life sized army was once in full color and
complete with weapons such as swords and bows. Researchers have studied the various techniques
and new technology that was introduced to create the fine detail and unique features of each figure.
Art historians have speculated possible influences from other cultures such as Greek and Hellenistic
that helped shape the style of the figures. The terracotta warriors have been excavated from four
main pits, other clay figures including chariots, horses, and performers have been discovered around
the emperor's tomb. The clay army is a part of a much larger necropolis consisting of several halls,
stables, and an imperial park around the tomb mound. Qin Shi Huang's tomb hasn't been excavated
out of fear of destroying artifacts buried within by exposing them.
The discovery of the Terracotta army at first seemed to strengthen the idea of Chinas first emperor
being a ruthless warmonger who

colophons, texts written on attached pieces of paper or silk. Calligraphy and painting have always
been closely related but China held calligraphy much higher than painting. A long tradition ties all
the pictures and poetry together. Many artists added seal impressions in redin to identify themselves.
No other Chinese form of art has such a worldwide admiration as porcelain. Artists often decorated
ceramics, such as porcelain in colored designs or pictures, working with finely ground minerals
suspended in water and a binding agent. Chinese used lacquer, made from the sap of a Asiatic sumac
tree, to cover wood. The Asiatic sumac tree is native to central and southern China. When the
lacquer dries it prevents wood from decaying. China is one of the world's great economic powers. ...

design today.

Eileen Gray's vision of E.1027's design was from a social aspect. She used the smallest volume of
space yet still maintaining the desired comfort.
In the 1970's, Gray withdrew from the front of the design world only to be given her much deserved
accolade from a new design era. She received this kudos with pride as she was retiring from the
field. Her works proved an enormous appreciation and even set a record in 1972 after her final
furniture pieces were sold out at auction in Paris. "She was able to enjoy this belated recognition
with a bemused detachment".
In conclusion, this essay has briefly addressed Eileen Gray's position and unique character she
carried through her career during the modernist design period. It focused in on one of her most
exemplary works, the E–1027 house, while covering wider areas including her views on the distinct
roles within modernism and her addition to the development of this movement through furniture
design and architecture. Her prominence is solid due to her individual collection of work that still

I plan on finishing these stairs in a spray lacquer finish. I think this type of finish would be best as
its hard wearing and easy to apply coat after coat. A spray lacquer finish is quick–drying so it is does
not take long before many coats can be applied. Context and Rational Regulations in today's joinery
design can affect how some aspects of joinery cannot be exactly reproduced. The main area in
joinery were this is relevant is in stair design because for example older stair designs would have
had bigger risers which does not comply with modern regulations. This can take from the original
look of the stairs but to comply with regulations stairs are reproduced in measurements that comply
with regulations. However when replacing a traditional style windows it can be by regulation to
replace it with pieces of exact dimensions to keep with the previous style. Regulations on the design
and geometry of external joinery are the strictest area as and windows are considered the eyes of the
building. So essentially the reasons for regulations on stair design is due to that they have a
everyday practical use and need to be safe as a lot of accidents in the home are from falling down
stairs. Another main area where this has implications on stair design is the regulation with the gap

Bulbul Influence On American Culture

  • 1. Bulbul Influence On American Culture Its legends about the religion, having been brought from the sub–continent run similar to those in Sri Lanka, although the latter is said to have no existing record about the religious origin. The influences of many countries on the country's culture are evident in its dance forms and music and instruments that make this music. Bulbul has remained a favorite musical instrument. It is a kind of horizontal according usually accompanying devotional or religious songs such as maulud and maadhaha. ("Maldives Music : The Maldives") According to ("A Brief History Of Maldives") The bodu beru, which means "big drum," consists of songs and dances by the common people, which are now part of entertainment in stage shows, festivals and national celebrations. ... • 3. Technology And Physics Behind The Compact Disc Good morning students and teachers, today I will be talking to you about the technology and physics behind the Compact disc otherwise known as the CD Everybody knows that the CD is slowly fading out and being replaced by a digital world where files and streams are the main methods of music delivery. But the CD is not yet done. What is a CD? A CD is a thin circular disc comprised of metal and plastic, the CD is about 12cm in diameter and is usually made up of 3 layers, it is capable of storing up to 74 minutes of audio but usually only has 50 minutes stored on it to make sure it is at optimal function, the digital data that can be stored on a CD is; 44 100 samples per second, therefore, you can store 682 MB on a CD that is capable of 74 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Lacquer is used rather than the polycarbonate due to the positioning of the metal film. The metal layer of the CD is the layer that contains the data. CD data is represented as tiny indentations known as "pits", these pits are encoded in a spiral track that if unrolled from it spiral would be around 5.5 km long, the spiral is moulded into the top of the polycarbonate layer, these are microscopic and usually expressed in the measurement of a micron µm which is 1 millionth of a meter. The areas between pits are known as "lands". The pits are even smaller than the lands and are approximately 100 nm deep by 500 µm wide, and vary from 850 µm to 3.5 µm in length. The measurement of the pit represents the binary information of the data stored on the disc. The optical system employs a highly coherent light source and the pits are made approximately a quarter wavelength deep. The readout beam axis is nominally aligned to be perpendicular to the disc plane. When there are no pit–land edges in the spot, all of the reflected beam will share the same phase. The phase of the reflected beam will, however, change by 180 degrees when the spot moves from pit to land or vice versa. When the optical spot traverses a pit–land edge the magnitude of the beam reflected back into the sensor will momentarily drop almost to zero...The reflected beam then consists of two portions, equal in magnitude but opposite in phase. Both ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As you read through the history of vinyl you will be presented with insight magnifying your ability to identify and understand information with regards to vinyl pressings from as early as the 1900s. This chapter not only riffles through a variety of record facts that will bring the newbie record collector up to speed, but also contains intriguing knowledge and stories even the fanatical record collectors are expectedly unaware of. You will undoubtedly at some point put this book down and head online or out to the record shop to locate obscure and noteworthy finds. Collecting vinyl requires a ... Chances of winning were only 1 in 80,000,000 but this campaign drew momentary attention. Flexi– discs were also common additions to cereal boxes. Kids could cut out an Archie Comic on the back of their Super Sugar Crisps or a Kiss Flexi with their "Kiss Krunch" cereal. Regardless of the fact that Flexi–Disc releases can be designed for fun and creative purposes, they are easily worn out, warp and bend and are therefore were not in reality favored. Unusual, Obscure and Creative Records Over the years, an abundance of obscure and unique records have been pressed using strange color combinations and unexpected materials. Here are a few memorable pressings. X–ray Records During the 1950s in the Soviet Union x–rays were brought about to duplicate banned music. Using X–rays discarded from hospitals, a bootlegger would cut them into circles, create a hole in the center by burning the x–ray with a cigarette, and imprint music onto them. • 7. Terracotta Warriors Analysis After watching the video Secrets of China's Terracotta Warriors English documentary, I learned that there was so much history behind the Terracotta warriors. These clay statues were made for the first emperor Qin Shi Huang funeral as a more humane way to follow ancient Chinese tradition without killing off your court. Reasons, why they started making Terracotta warriors, is because in ancient Chinese history when an emperor is having a funeral they would take their court and useful people with them by making then drink arsenic wine. Crazy enough many people at that time would think following your emperor to death is an honor. Even though people would follow the emperor willingly to death it was still viewed as an inhuman thing. The carboxylic acid group of a rosin acid can be converted to an ester through a reaction with various alcohols. The alcohols typically used to make rosin esters are given below. The molecular weight and functionality of the alcohol determines the softening point of the subsequent ester. Glycerol with three reactive sites is the most commonly used alcohols. Methanol with a single hydroxyl group and tri–ethylene–glycol with two reactive sites are used to produce liquid and low softening point esters. Lacquer is a wood polish; it is the chemical added to wood to give it the smooth and shiny properties. Without it, the wood of a piano would be a lot more difficult to work with, shrinking the lifespan of the common piano by years if not decades. Without lacquer, the piano and other hammered string instruments may have never become the influential instruments they are today. WHAT IS LACQUER EXACTLY? Lacquer is a polymer of many different bases that when coated on a wooden substance, offers a layer of protection and gloss to a piece of wood. The most common lacquer used on piano frames is a urushiol–based lacquer. Urushiol is a common allergen found in many Anacardiaceae plants such as poison ivy. It has a boiling point of 200˚ C (392˚ F) and can dissolve in substances such as alcohol. It is composed of a 6 carbon ring with 3 double bonds similar to benzene, 2 hydroxyl groups, and an R group. The R group varies from a large amount of hydrocarbons (such as (CH2)14CH3, (CH2)7CH=CH(CH2)5CH3, (CH2)7CH=CHCH2CH=CH(CH2)2CH3 and others). • 13. Fatherhood In The Descendants In the course of the film, King starts off as a solely involved in work, but when King gets word of Elizabeth's mishap, King recognizes he will have to become a single father to his daughters Alexandra and Scottie. According to Marquis de Sade, the ideology of fatherhood is, "the notion that a child is "born of the father's blood" and only incidentally of a mother's body" (Lacquer, 209). Moreover, fatherhood is not constructed on significant facts, but also on political and social background therefore, the philosophy of fatherhood is socially constructed. Furthermore, King alongside the doctors, help explain to Scottie what is to happen to Elizabeth and King nurtures Scottie to support her. Moreover, to the bigger picture, King supports Alexandra and Scottie by giving them a home to live in, food to eat, and drives them to wherever they go. Lastly, as a single father, King is expected to set a good example for his children. An example of King setting a good example for his children is when King and Alexandra go to confront Speer. Processed foods are foods that are packaged, canned, frozen, and put on shelves. Processed foods are unhealthy because they are high in calories, trans–fat, and saturated fat. Here are several different processed foods that many Americans eat quite often, sausage, hot dogs, ham, boxed cakes, bread, milk, and cheeses. Non–processed foods are fresh and natural foods. A common chemical used in food packaging called bisphenol A (BPA), is found to have some health risks. Jose Antonio Brotons, Maria Fatima Olea–Serrano, Mercedes Villalobos, Vicente Pedraza, and Nicolas Olea show in their article that foods that are in lacquer coated cans may have estrogenic activity. The plastic monomer bisphenol–A, identified by mass spectrometry, was found as a contaminant not only in the liquid of the preserved vegetables but also in water autoclaved in the cans. The amount of bisphenol–A in the extracts accounted for all the hormonal activity measured. Although the presence of other xenoestrogens cannot be ruled out, it is apparent that all estrogenic activity in these cans was due to bisphenol–A leached from the lacquer coating. (1). Clearly, bisphenol–A is a chemical that people or animals should consume. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has shown concern about possible effects of BPA on humans. The possible effects can harm very young children, fetuses, the brain, behavior, and hormones. The impact of certain estrogenic xenobiotics on the reproductive system development and health of animals has been clearly documented. Findings, such as ours demonstrate thathumans are also exposed at risk. • 17. Lacquer Table History 'By Yo K' O It might be surprising to learn that parachuting may have begun prior to 90 B.C. in China. China's renowned historian, Suma Ch'ien studied ancient texts, which told the story of Emperor Shun whose father was trying to kill him. He fled into a granary tower, which his father set ablaze. The Emperor tied several large conical straw hats together and jumped out of the tower, the hats serving as a parachute, and landed safely on the ground. A book published in 1214 entitled "Lacquer Table History" by Yo K'o relates an episode that occurred in Canton in the 1100's, when an Arab stole one leg of a golden lacquered table. He escaped by climbing to the top of a mosque's very tall minaret and jumped, holding onto two umbrellas without handles. He reached the ground without injury. It was Joseph Montgolfier of France, who in the late 18th century, first gave significant meaning to the modern use of the parachute by testing his device while jumping out of a hot air balloon. His success led to a plethora of balloonist stunt jumpers using parachutes. With the high incidence of hot air balloon accidents that were occurring at the time, the parachute gained impetus as a mechanism to save lives. Eileen Gray: Le Corbusier Or Frank Lloyd Wright Eileen Gray When one talks or thinks of architecture, or the architects, there is a great gender gap, and due to these gaps, some women do not acquire the acknowledgement that is rightfully theirs. As one of the finest architects, designers, and artist of the 20th century, Eileen Gray was and still has not been given any attention as a serious designer/architect, unlike her counter parts, Le Corbusier, De Stijl, Mies van der Rohe, or Frank Lloyd Wright. Eileen Gray spent most of her designing life in France and was influenced greatly by a veriety of designers and architects. Further more, Eileen Gray proposed four problems that the great architects of the time, like Le Corbusier, Frank Lloyd Wright, and Mies van der Rohe all thought about, but did not incorporate them into there work. Eileen proposed the problem of the windows. There were three types that the three had come up with, but all of them were similar, unlike hers. The problem of shutters, they never used any. The problem of independence and privacy. They all believed in free flowing open spaces, but Eileen incorporated room, that were private and independent, and gave the plan a free open space. The final problem that came into play was the idea of an open access kitchen, but with out the odour spreading into the house. All these problems were looked at closely when Eileen Gray built the E–1027 house. The problems also made the other architects to think and plan their buildings and incorporate these ideas. As well, Eileen Gary, through out her education, was the experimenting type, trying and investigating surfaces and materials. She worked with lacquer, rugs and designed furniture using materials that would normally be used for construction. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Lacquer Lacquer is the most mineralized tissue of the body, framing a hard, thin, translucent layer of calcified tissue that covers the whole anatomic crown of the tooth. It can shift in thickness and hardness on every tooth, from tooth to tooth and from individual to individual. It can likewise fluctuate in shading (ordinarily from yellowish to grayish white) contingent upon varieties in the thickness, nature of its mineral structure and surface stains. Lacquer has no blood or nerve supply inside of it. It is veneer's hardness that empowers teeth to withstand obtuse, overwhelming masticatory powers. Finish is so difficult in light of the fact that it is made essentially out of inorganic materials: Roughly 95% to 98% of it is calcium and phosphate particles that make up strong hydroxyapatite precious stones. Yet, these are not unadulterated gems, in light of the fact that they are carbonated and contain follow minerals, for example, strontium, magnesium, lead, and fluoride. These components make "natural hydroxyapatite" more solvent than unadulterated hydroxyapatite. Jewellery Box Essay PARTS OF A WHOLE HISTORY Jewellery has been around since the stone age, after the Neanderthals had gained the knowledge of cutting and molding, accordingly the origin of jewellery box can be traced for over the centuries, however the exact reference to the first ever made jewellery box is not easily available. Throughout history a jewellery box was at times considered as a casket and also treated as miniature treasure chests. People would typically craft them from the high quality and exceptional materials. They were once regarded as a symbol of wealth and luxury and hence were originally designed for royalty and priests, who could afford to own valuables and were designed by local craftsmen and artisans. Keeping jewellery safe and in a good condition is the primary motive of a jewellery box. Initially they made trinket boxes which were smaller in size as compared to a multicompartmental jewellery box. Some had myriad compartments, drawers, trays, and velvet slots for rings which were made in different sizes. Besides jewellery boxes, manufacturing snuff and tea box was a common phenomenon, however the origin of boxes with or without lids in general is also not specified we can only trace it after the rise of trade and commerce where the very first jewellery box might have been a ceramic jar which was a typical material to carry goods in ancient ... Visit to the Metropolitan Museum of Art and Viewing the Asian Art Collections The Metropolitan Museum of Art has one of the finest Asian art collections that has enlightened and strengthened my understanding in my personal art experience. The Hall of Buddhas gave me a sense of peace: a thought of quietness to gather myself, a peace that I have long forgotten or not shared. The next corridor was an exhibit of ceramics of everyday life in the Neolithic period of the Majlayao culture (Machong phase, CA 2300–2000BC Metropolitan Museum plaque). The pottery of this period expresses similarities in the color and shapes to the art found amongst the indigenous cultures elsewhere in the world. On the side was another room with two guardian lions (6th dynasty 220–589). Lion statues were status symbols for great dwellings that were placed outside of main entranceways to promote good and to stop evil from entering in (Feng Shui, Lam 38). In the room at the Museum they guard lacquer images and woodcarvings of Buddhas. Buddha images executed in dry lacquer were highly valued by the Chinese because of the costly time–consuming process required to produce them (Metropolitan Museum wall–plaque). Possibly the lions do serve a purpose here: to prevent any evil beings from entering a room filled with prized lacquer Buddhas. The Han dynasty (25–220 CE) exhibit outside in the corridor demonstrated remarkable uniformity. Common pottery such as models of houses and farm structures, were created as funerary objects for burials. The Han period has deeply shaped and cast its roots in contemporary burial rituals. Thus the Terracotta Warriors were born. As a potter myself I have always been fascinated with the herculean effort and particularities of the production of the Terracotta warriors. Each figure is life sized, not made using a mold and utterly unique from figure to figure. Further more not just any clay would do, because the statue would be so heavy due to its size the clay itself would have to be uncharacteristically strong as well as dense to stand up on its own power and also not to explode in the hand bricked kilns used at the time. The clay used to make these 8,000 life sized figures can only be found in one place which is located only 18 kilometers away from the Terracotta warriors grave. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The pressures are so high that the paint is atomized and can be applied to the surface. The major disadvantage of this system is that the paint particles are traveling so fast when they reach the surface, many will actually bounce off and gather in the air. This is called overspray. HVLP systems were designed to address overspray. A HVLP system is, in essence, a modified pressure fed system. A HVLP spray gun gathers the air inside the gun and send it downstream with as little pressure drop as possible. Two types of HVLP spray systems are available: a conversion spray gun and a turbine system. A conversion spray gun uses high pressure air, but drops the pressure before it goes into the gun. This type of system requires a high capacity air compressor with moisture traps. A turbine system simply supplies a large amount of air (via turbine) to the gun; high pressure is not necessary. The turbine is typically powered by a high–speed electric motor. The heat from the turbine eliminates up to 95% of the moisture in the air. This type of system is sold with a turbine, hose, and spray gun. Most of the cost is from the spray gun and not the turbine due to the machining requirements of the ... One of the new styles of the day was art deco, or style modernes, a style influenced by the technological and economic advances of the decade. The name is short for Art Decoratifs, which refers to the Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes, held in Paris in 1925, where the style was first exhibited. The exposition was one of the world fairs commonly held at the time, showcasing French goods and high fashions to the world. Unfortunately, such lavish and widespread fairs became increasingly uncommon after the event of World War I, and after advances in technology created devices such as the radio and, eventually, television, the world fairs ended. When people could remain up to date on technological and artistic advances from the comforts of their own homes, the world fairs became unnecessary. Examples of art deco were exhibited at the Exposition Internationale, which allowed the art style to grow in popularity and spread throughout western Europe. It eventually spread to the United States in 1928, where it would remain popular well into the 1930's and 40's, waning only at the beginning of World War II. Most of the characteristic features of the art deco style were influenced by the new technology and wealth of the era. To start, this painting was made by drawing many overlapping straight lines, and painting over it with a lacquer, then he repeated this step several more times. He then filled each shape with blue or orange watercolor paint. You can see where the paint leaks out in some places, this provides a balanced ratio of geometric and abstract shapes. The blending also softens the contrast between the two colors. I've concluded that the painting makes me think of an "apocalypse now" scenario. So, not only does this story contrast the modern view of Muslims, it also challenges the West's idea of Africa's economy and the work available there. Many people think that a world economic system didn't develop until the 1500s CE. People are often focused on the areas and times of their ancestry, so they only acknowledge the developments during those times. Dr. Janet Abu– Lughod uses her book Before European Hegemony to refute those views. Contrary to popular belief, in years before 1500, there was a world economic system already emerging, due to interdependent balance between regions throughout the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Finishing Hardwood Floors Hardwood floor can be finished using high power sanding machines, although some handwork may be necessary in places that on which a sanding machine will not fit, or near corners. Before starting the finishing process, the hardwood surface should be free of dirt and all nails must be carefully driven so they are not protruding in the floor or the baseboard. Depending on the hardwood flooring surface, sometimes with two sanding cuts, you will get a nice finish whatsoever, if the floor is uneven, then three sanding cuts will be needed. Hardwood Flooring Sanding Machines There are two main types of sanding machines: drum or disk type. Drum sanders have the sandpaper mounted on a drum that rotates parallel to the plane of the floor, scratching in straight lines in the direction of the sanding machine. On the other hand, disk sanders are the ones in which the sandpaper rotates in a circle in the plane of the floor. There are different tools that will facilitate sanding hardwood floor near the edges of the floor and next to the baseboard. Choosing the right sandpaper is a very important thing to do, because coarse grits will scratch the hardwood leaving some marks that will be noticeable. Fine grits are better when you want to have the best finishing on a hardwood flooring, although it will require additional work. For better results, start by using the coarse sandpaper, to level the floor and continue to polish the surface using finer sandpaper. Hardwood Flooring Sanding ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 69. The Courtship Of Mr. Lyon By Angela Carter "The Courtship of Mr. Lyon" – Angela Carter This short story involves almost an identical plot to the original Beauty and the Beast. The theme expressed throughout both is that beauty is what's on the inside, rather than what's on the outside, which is portrayed through the main character, Beauty. The author used the circumstances of Beauty's father to show that "her sweetness and her gravity" was transformed into "a lacquer of the invincible prettiness that characterizes certain pampered, exquisite, expensive cats" by his restored wealth (Carter 143). While the story involves elements of storytelling just by following the plot of the original tale, it's lacking emotion. The author of this short story allowed Beauty to chose whether she would ... • 73. The Army Of The Undead Essay The Army of the Undead In 1974 Chinese farmers in Lintong District, Xi 'an, of the Shaanxi province were digging for a well when they unearthed fragments of clay figures and made one of the most important discoveries in art history to date. Archaeologists were notified of the discovery and they began excavating the area for more clues as to what was buried. The clay army of China's first emperor, Qin Shi Huang, was found buried in pits near the emperor's underground tomb, over 8,000 warriors dated to approximately the late third century BCE. The massive life sized army was once in full color and complete with weapons such as swords and bows. Researchers have studied the various techniques and new technology that was introduced to create the fine detail and unique features of each figure. Art historians have speculated possible influences from other cultures such as Greek and Hellenistic that helped shape the style of the figures. The terracotta warriors have been excavated from four main pits, other clay figures including chariots, horses, and performers have been discovered around the emperor's tomb. The clay army is a part of a much larger necropolis consisting of several halls, stables, and an imperial park around the tomb mound. Qin Shi Huang's tomb hasn't been excavated out of fear of destroying artifacts buried within by exposing them. The discovery of the Terracotta army at first seemed to strengthen the idea of Chinas first emperor being a ruthless warmonger who ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The style of cut string stairs I chose is in Victorian style as it's the most common historical style been reproduced today and also original Victorian staircases remain intact in many homes throughout the western world dating back as far as the 1830s. The exact stairs I propose to reproduce is the stairs pictured on the title page. I found these stairs after extensive searches of old Victorian style homes on Google, the staircase is from a house in Yorkshire, England and the house has been published many times for its interior design. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I plan on finishing these stairs in a spray lacquer finish. I think this type of finish would be best as its hard wearing and easy to apply coat after coat. A spray lacquer finish is quick–drying so it is does not take long before many coats can be applied. Context and Rational Regulations in today's joinery design can affect how some aspects of joinery cannot be exactly reproduced. The main area in joinery were this is relevant is in stair design because for example older stair designs would have had bigger risers which does not comply with modern regulations. This can take from the original look of the stairs but to comply with regulations stairs are reproduced in measurements that comply with regulations. However when replacing a traditional style windows it can be by regulation to replace it with pieces of exact dimensions to keep with the previous style. Regulations on the design and geometry of external joinery are the strictest area as and windows are considered the eyes of the building. So essentially the reasons for regulations on stair design is due to that they have a everyday practical use and need to be safe as a lot of accidents in the home are from falling down stairs. Another main area where this has implications on stair design is the regulation with the gap between balusters as the regulation state they cannot be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
