In this session you will get an understanding how to evaluate your company's or applications' cloud readiness. We will cover aspects such as workload and data categorisation, automation levels, design for failure and cost-optimised architectures. We will be looking at typical application evolution paths from tightly coupled physical systems, in some cases through virtualisation, to cloud-native, or cloud-ready, loosely coupled, distributed and automated solutions.
Cloud adoption requires that fundamental changes are considered across the entire organization, and that stakeholders across all organizational units are engaged in these changes. This session will introduce participants to the AWS Cloud Adoption Framework (AWS CAF) to help organizations take an accelerated path to successful cloud adoption. Participants will be exposed to consideration, guidance, and best practices that can be used to help their organizations develop an efficient and effective plan to realize measurable business benefits from cloud adoption faster and with less risk.
Cloud First does not mean you should jump into cloud without a well-constructed plan. The most successful organizations build the foundational capabilities first and create a roadmap that aligns people, technology, platforms, security, governance and culture. Many CIO’s want the benefits associated with cloud technologies but don’t necessarily know where to start and what questions to ask. This session will provide real world examples of the transformation process, challenges and successes that organizations have experienced in their cloud journey. We will define a low risk strategy and approach to achieve success in the cloud quickly. We will describe the sequencing requirements, milestones, and foundational services that need to be in place on Day 1. And finally, we will reveal the most critical and often overlooked component of your transformation strategy. Sponsored by Smartronix.

AWS Cloud Center Excellence Quick Start Prescriptive GuidanceTom Laszewski
This presentation is a practical playbook for defining, establishing, and implementing a Cloud Enablement Engine (CEE). It collates and summarizes the lessons learned and anti-patterns gathered from the CEE journeys successfully navigated at Amazon and other large enterprise companies. A lot has been written about the need to establish a CEE, the benefits of moving to a productization mindset, and the business value of tribes, guilds, and two-pizza teams. However, larger organizations are still struggling with a CEE 30-60-90 day plan, and the essential components of the CEE during its first six months in existence.
The prescriptive guidance in this presentation provides pragmatic and tactical advice for establishing a Cloud Enablement Engine (CEE) – also referred to as a Cloud Center of Excellence (CCoE) or Cloud Enablement Team. This presentation serves as a step-by-step guide for the initial setup activities, and the top ten best practices that have been extrapolated from working across a large number of customers. What not to do is as important as what to do. Therefore, the top ten anti-patterns are discussed.
A key focus of the CEE is transforming the IT organization from an on-premise operating model to a Cloud Operating Model (COM). The transformation to COM and the charter of a CEE are highly correlated and interconnected. During the nascent stage of the CEE, the focus of the CEE will be on the infrastructure components of a COM. This includes the operations, security & control, platform architecture & governance, and infrastructure provisioning & configuration management functions. AWS understands that enterprise (on-premises) operating models are based on ITIL. Therefore, the cloud transformation from an on-premises operating model to a COM will include mapping ITIL to a cloud, agile, and DevOps based capabilities and processes. Fortunately, ITIL 4.0 embraces DevOps, cloud, and agile.

The People Model and Cloud Transformation | AWS Public Sector Summit 2016Amazon Web Services
A successful cloud transformation journey incorporates the three pillars of transformation: people, process, and technology. While leveraging the technology, the people component drives transformations. But far too often, cloud transformation efforts concentrate on the process improvement strategies and technology implementation, while essentially ignoring the human aspect of the change initiative and the opportunity to develop a more agile, DevOps culture. Many leaders who look back on previous change initiatives reflect that process and technology were simple to change compared to the people part of the organization. A central perspective within the AWS Cloud Adoption Framework, the "people perspective," guides organizations about aspects that affect people to reduce the risk and accelerate the value realization from cloud adoption. This session covers best-practice methods that enable customers to address challenges in setting up the right organizational structure to manage cloud operations, roles and job responsibilities during transition and post-cloud adoption, assessing gaps in skills and competencies required, building effective training models, and shaping a DevOps culture.
The pathway to the cloud has many different options and levers that customers can pull. This webinar walks customers through actual steps from creating a cloud adoption vision to actually building a migration roadmap with actionable guidance. We’ll go through proven migration patterns, methods and tooling that AWS has leveraged successfully with hundreds of Enterprise customers around the globe. Learn what challenges customers face when planning the migrations to cloud, and how they overcome them to minimize risk and accelerate the adoption.
Learn how cloud is the "New Normal" and the benefits of a cloud environment, with benefits for every industry, customer type, and stage of cloud adoption.

CPN210 Defining an Enterprise Cloud Strategy - AWS re: Invent 2012Amazon Web Services
Few terms are more confusing than the term "cloud." While we've moved beyond the age of "defining the cloud," there's still a significant amount of confusion in understanding the role of the public cloud in an enterprise IT infrastructure. This presentation defines the elements of a mature enterprise cloud computing strategy that includes all components of a hybrid cloud, how to build out an integrated public/private infrastructure, and strategies for when and where to deploy new systems, and when it makes sense to migrate existing systems.
IDC Analysts predict that the market for public cloud consulting services will grow 10x faster than overall IT professional services. This session will cover how AWS consulting partners have built successful AWS practices by investing in sales, delivery, training, and building AWS specific methodologies. We will cover best practices in each functional area, and provide a 6-12 month roadmap for building your AWS practice.

(ENT206) Migrating Thousands of Workloads to AWS at Enterprise Scale | AWS re...Amazon Web Services
Migrating workloads to AWS in an enterprise environment is not easy, but with the right approach, an enterprise-sized organization can migrate thousands of instances to AWS quickly and cost effectively. You can leave this session with a good understanding of the migration framework used to assess an enterprise application portfolio and how to move thousands of instances to AWS in a quick and repeatable fashion.
In this session, we describe the components of Accenture's cloud migration framework, including tools and capabilities provided by Accenture, AWS, and third-party software solutions, and how enterprises can leverage these techniques to migrate efficiently and effectively. The migration framework covers:
- Defining an overall cloud strategy
- Assessing the business requirements, including application and data requirements
- Creating the right AWS architecture and environment
- Moving applications and data using automated migration tools- Services to manage the migrated environment
Many large enterprises have begun using AWS to host development and test environments while also building greenfield applications in AWS. After realizing the benefits that AWS has to offer, many Enterprise look for ways to accelerate their migration to the cloud. In beginning this journey they are often faced with a number of challenges such as determining which applications should move, how they should move, and how can they be effectively managed in the cloud. Accenture, working with AWS Solution Architects, and AWS Professional Services have developed a framework, based on our experiences, to quickly, efficiently, and successfully move enterprise applications to AWS at scale. This session will review our approach, tools, and methods that can help Enterprises evolve their cloud transformation programs.
The complexities of a cloud transformation program that involves the migration of hundreds or thousands of servers can present a significant challenge to program management and the coordination of IT teams tasked with the success and support of migration. This session outlines a highly collaborative agile approach to accelerate migration activities through automation of the iterative capture, sharing, and documentation of decisions and information, incorporated into a common DevOps solution.

Database Oracle e VMware Cloud™ on AWS: i miti da sfatareAmazon Web Services

Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.
Neuro-symbolic is not enough, we need neuro-*semantic*Frank van Harmelen
Neuro-symbolic (NeSy) AI is on the rise. However, simply machine learning on just any symbolic structure is not sufficient to really harvest the gains of NeSy. These will only be gained when the symbolic structures have an actual semantics. I give an operational definition of semantics as “predictable inference”.
All of this illustrated with link prediction over knowledge graphs, but the argument is general.
